- US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti says, 'I know that India and I respect that India likes its strategic autonomy, but in times of conflict, there is no such thing as strategic autonomy. We will in crisis moments need to know each other. I don't care what title we put to it, but we will need to know that we are trusted friends, brothers and sisters, and colleagues in times of need.'

Wrong. India sees it's future with a number of countries, not just the US.
All the countries that India has a future with - Are with the US, not Russia nor China
@@deccanheartmajority of global south is not with us malign hegemony not anymore as the world has witnessed , US bombsh while china builds, also one more thing India is not that land that maintains relationships with only USA or say only Russia or china it’s the land that want to befriend everybody in the world like vishwwamitra . This land knows : वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्, this land preaches लोकः समस्ताः सुखिनो भवन्तु and these dharmic values we hold are from time immemorial and that what makes us bharatiya so understanding these values will help us cement our friendship bond for ever . India needs strategic autonomy for the survival of mankind I know it’s a bold statement but it is what it is .
@deccanheart. My earlier reply to you was swiftly censored by UT. Western freedom of speech my foot. Another American has a better advice: to be a friend of America is fatal.
@@katong1953 Take a look at all the Balance of Payments, FDI’s, Technologies Partnerships, Open Markets… and the core Indian values. You will find your answer

Tell me 1 thing that India needs from Russia?
Tell me 1 thing that you use - ‘Made In Russia’.
Nothing!
Russia is a ‘Fake’ and ‘Useless’ friend. Where Russia has been the most helpful to India is - Their vote in the UN.
Take a look at Reality - Whenever there is an Indo-China issue, Russia has NEVER taken India’s side. It is the USA that has stopped China from encroaching Arunachal Pradesh.
Indians have this blind love for the Rooskies.
Moreover, the values we espouse are in direct contrast with Putin. Putin, is probably the Worst (and one of the most Destructive) Person on Earth.
We can’t side with Democracy based countries while also supporting Authoritarian regimes. We need to step up and support Countries that are like minded as ours
Modi has more leverage in speaking to Russsia compared to any Western leader.
Leverage on what? No one else in the World wants to embrace and recognize this tyrant (who eliminates his opponents).
India really doesn’t need anything from Russia, and Russia doesn’t need anything from India.
@@vip129870 - True - Because No Western Leaders want to talk with Putin. Nevertheless, how has Modi used this leverage? He got some Indians released from the frontline and got licenses to produce guns in India. This is the leverage we have
India’s reliance on Russia is a relic of American favoritism for Pakistan since the Cold War. You reap what you sow.
Nonsense.
India's _relationship_ with Russia is far older, far more strategic, fair more intrinsic than purveyors of modern international political expediency will have you believe.
Russia has been India's friend through thick-and-thin. India owes Russia the same.
Putin may lead Russia, but Putin is not Russia. India must stand-by Russia as it goes through its crisis.

Possibly. Not denying. In a relationship where China was the other party, I can "understand."
China is _still_ a greater supporter of Russia than India. And more powerful and more meaningful.
The fact remains that India and Russia are friends. India needs to help Russia through this drug overdose.
@@narkelnaru2710Please realize that the US is with the Russian people and not Putin. Whereas, India’s posture seems like ‘Pro- Putin’. Supporting Putin is supporting his Oligarchy, not the citizens of Russia
@@narkelnaru2710in any Indo-China conflict, the Russians are silent. It is the Americans who are warning China not to encroach Arunachal Pradesh.
eric the Arrogant Goblin garcetti is hallucinating
What a hypocritical, preachy speech? It is amazing he can deliver this with a straight face given all the democracies of the world that US has meddled with.
They develop selective amnesia when it suits them.
Why don’t you evaluate in today’s reality
@@deccanheart India helped US fight off the millennium bug. What cynical calculation did India have at that time.
Look without India, this would be a bipolar world. Russia and China on one end fighting off the US Coalition on the other. Mr. Garcetti should fully appreciate that India is carrying out a very perilous task of being the great balancer in this world.
@@zurichkunst3615 - Would you want a World with powers like China / Russia or the West (includes S Korea, Taiwan, Israel, Japan…). Where do you see the future of India with?
@@zurichkunst3615 India will be its strongest and project power when it stands up to its own values, not being a Power balancer. We need to align with countries that reflect our values and not embrace tyrants who subjugate their citizenry.
The frustration he is in. Ball is in Indias court
We want to have a good relation with The USA but there are big buts between us. Given the conduct of the usa in the last seventy years, it is very difficult for us to trust Americans and totally rely on them.
He is talking as if US is doing India a favor with their collaboration on basic tech in howitzers and helicopters. Com'on man!😂
Take a look at the Balance of Trade, FDI inflows, The West’s investments in India (jobs in India). Yes, we need all those to be able to grow and prosper. Sorry, there is not much that we really need from Russia.
If you think that Russia will be on your side with a conflict with China, just look at the previous few incidents
Multipolarity. Many poles, many options; strategic or otherwise.
Sounds more like a warning
This guy is a talker… I have huge respect for Strobe Talbott.
Sorry mr ambassador We get strategically and autonomously lazy sometimes.

This fool is talking nonsense.
Imperialist !
True, there is no such thing as strategic autonomy. When India says they want to have a "strategic autonomy" what they are implying is "we are going on a rogue mission with Russia". That's how it spells out.
Dont forget around 30 million Russian have died during world war 2 and Russia was an ally of USA , its only when it dropped atomic power on Japan USA felt it should go around the world dictating its views and that’s what’s been happening for the past post world war 2 time , USA want to split russia into many smaller region so that it remains a sole hegemon in the world so that it can have a freehand on imposing its agenda to whole world
What an idiotic opinion.....
Srategic autonomy should be followed in a more strict manner only during times of conflict as long as it's in the best interests of this nation.
He should try his 'sales pitch' somewhere else.
