    I am the original owner of a ‘97 Valkyrie; it currently has 106,000 miles on it; enjoyed your rundown. One correction: gas mileage sucks…30-33 mpg with ethanol, 10% improvement without ethanol. Carbs have never been a problem.

      Valhalla is one portion of the underworld for those who worship the demon Odin! All of the pagan gods are fallen angels (idolaters who corrupt the naive earthlings to serve them; instead of the almighty God)! People always promote these entities without first learning of their miserable ends - Odin is devoured by Fenrir, a wolf that represents anarchy! The almighty God is theirs and ours father; he is imune to pagan self-deceit!

    Great motorcycles that are under valued. You can find very good examples for less than $4000. The gas mileage is not good though. I get about 25 to 30 MPG on mine. Will never get close to 250 or 300 miles on a tank or gasoline.

    • @JW...-oj5iw
      @JW...-oj5iw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You got that right. My average is in the 30-35 mpg. I did a maximum fuel mileage loop and got 55. It was absolute torture. Maximum speed 55mph, quick upshifting, minimum stops. At the end of the trek, I was pleased that such mileage was technically possible, but it requires a set of circumstances that kill both souls, bike and rider.

      250 km is achievable, but I'm usually into reserve by then. 250 miles? Maybe, at not-quite-highway-speeds, with a strong tail wind, having just taken a mood-deadening drug. My little car with a 1.9L engine got better gas mileage. I've had my Valk since new in 2001, and will only get rid of it when I can no longer ride.

    Awesome bike, and actually fits you yourself really well..! Nice also to hear an American being open about comparing Japanese machines to Harley Davidson. Nothing bad against Harley Davidson, on the contrary, but Honda really is stunning in it's designs and quality. Bickering about which brand is better or nicer is nonsense, a true biker loves pretty much all bikes and keeps an open mind. Thanks for the video, stunning bike. 👍👍

    After 20 fill-ups (nearly all open highway and freeway cruising at 65 - 85 MPH), my ‘99 Valkyrie is averaging 30.8 MPG.
    With a fuel tank capacity of 5.3 gallons, from fill-up to empty I can only travel 163.24 miles.
    That sucks - literally.
    But MAN, I love this SWEEET-sounding, smooth-riding two-wheeled Honda HOT ROD!

    I have a '99 bought it in 2013 it had 18k when I bought it now has 45k... Recently bought new brakes and tires. Getting ready for major maintenance like valve adjustment, cam belts change, pulleys and tensioners and coolant flush, probably will take me to 100k. Might change front and rear bearings upon inspection. Bike been awesome, without a peep of issues and it never disappoints even when I run up on big displacement mega twins. Getting ready for spring, summer traveling.

    • @JW...-oj5iw

      It may sound unbelievable, but the owner's manual tells you to inspect the cam belts at 100,000 miles.

    • @boreed5734
      @boreed5734 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JW...-oj5iw I realize those belts last a really long time and I talked to a experienced motorcycle mechanic who's worked on bikes for years including the Valks and he says he has never seen or heard of one breaking. I seen a picture of one posted by a guy who changed his and put the new one and old one side by side and it was difficult to tell the difference , the old one had no stress cracks even when squeezed to try to find them.. most just change them for peace of mind. I searched the web to see if anyone had one break I have not found anyone.

    • @JW...-oj5iw
      @JW...-oj5iw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@boreed5734 ... I have some experience in the matter. My friend across the street bought one of my '98s. Prior to a fairly long ride, he took it to a local that apparently sold him on the idea of replacing the belts. Bike had around 50k. He left the original belts at my house. They looked pristine, no visible deterioration of any kind. In the past, I had a mishap with my '78 Goldwing, bumping the right sprocket cover and destroying the belt. The engine design allowed the loss of the belt to not destroy the valves. It's called non-interference design. I was able to replace the belt and reset the cover at minimum expense. If the older bike had the bars that the Valkyrie comes with, it would likely have been unaffected by the little bump.

    • @boreed5734
      @boreed5734 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JW...-oj5iw Great info JW.. if I take the cover off to inspect I would need a new gasket?

    • @JW...-oj5iw
      @JW...-oj5iw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boreed5734 ... Sorry for the delay. I'm very busy today. Since it's not holding oil in the engine, only keeping the elements out, the sprocket cover seals are likely to be reusable. That being said, every circumstance is unique what happens to the seals on another bike, won't necessarily happen to yours. On the '78 'wing, I didn't have to do anything with the cover seals or bolts. Just stuck it back together after putting on the new belt. That was in the early '80s.

    No doubt when considering model name choices for this iconic motorcycle Honda was influenced by the U.S.A.F.'s futuristic supersonic strategic bomber the XB70 Valkyrie. This technological bomber also featured a F-6 design with six turbo jets mounted side-by-side for supersonic performance. The last surviving model is on display at the Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio not to far from the Marysville Ohio factory where Honda produced the Gold Wings & Valkyrie.
