I was born and raised in Buffalo and building that 33 killed the east side of Buffalo. The Jefferson area housed black teachers, doctors, etc. And they planted that expressway right in the middle. They used it for white flight.
The comment about redlining the black neighborhoods is untrue. Buffalo was 3% black when redlining started in the 1930's. Immigrants from southern and eastern Europe were afffected by redlining. So much has been written about redlining is untrue, it has become a cottage industry .
