    This video, along with the "what to wear" sections of your other videos, has been a lifesaver for someone who has no clue how to navigate the broad category that is business casual. I would say I wish other channels did the same, but I don't think they'd do nearly as good a job. Great stuff!

    Amazing explanation of smart casual and business casual. As a totally clueless mid thirties guy who moves around a lot for work I deeply appreciate this type of content. Would really welcome more content like this, great channel and thank you!

    While watching I thought of my own collection...and how my Higgins Mill is one of the most comfortable and versatile boots I own. Needless to say, I agree with your #1 choice! (Btw, it has a wood shank, which makes it my perfect travel boot as well for going through security). For whatever reason, I always found Thursdays to be much too narrow for my feet. I also have a bit of a love affair with Grant Stone. Their heavy-duty construction sometimes makes it feel like I'm purposefully stomping around instead of simply walking, but that's more of an observation than a complaint.

    This is perfect timing. I was surprised to see the Thursday boot on the list. I prefer the look of the Allan Edmond or Parkhurst, but the Thursday is a steal. Glad I stayed for the honorable mention... that Grant Stone sounds like a winner (in a different color though) !!

    I always like your video channels with more time spend on you wearing the boots as a positive demonstrations with more different outfits so that these more different outfits gave us more reference how we can learn from you how the boots can match what we are wearing. Thank you very much for your video channels advises.

    I am really impressed with your choices. You threw in some surprising choices and it really shows how much you think and that you are very fair and analytical in the choices. You call out your personal favorites and yet are able to pick boots that are the most appropriate for business casual. Well done!

    Thanks for the video! well thought out. I'm normally a shoe guy at work. Ie loafers, derbys, or longwings. But I wanted to try a "business casual" at work, so I preordered the grant stone Maduro shell Edward. But this goes well I may be adding an Alden Indy!

    I love your video's. I like your honorable mention because I just bought a pair of the black cxl Diesel's on the leather soles almost 2 weeks ago. They are super nice. They are the 3rd pair of GS's that I have. I have the Dune cxl Diesel's and the Crimson cxl Ottawa's and these boots. I have almost busted my ass a dozen times wearing these boots because of the leather sole. I have only worn them out once for a few hours but that's it. When I first got them, I thought I was going to have to return them because the vamp had some really dry looking stains. After careful inspection I think it was just the VSB that GS uses. I could tell that someone put on the vsb but forgot to buff it out and got distracted. That said, I was able to buff it out with some additional VSB and some saphir renovator. Now the boots are super shiny which I like and are a keeper. It's good because I hate to return/exchange things. Otherwise, after conditioning the boots with Saphir and some wax they look super nice and I will for sure be wearing these casually and with dress slacks. Thanks a lot pal. Great video!

    Great collection Tek! I have my everyday IR's in rough & tough which have turned into a beautiful darker brown with several months of casual wear. I also have 2 pair of 1000 Mile in Black and their burgundy color when i want to dress up to more of an office causal apparel. Love my 3 pair (not including another pair of cheaper boots I've had for years which I can't recall the name but the patina is beautiful as well.) Alden Indy's are the only pair on my list left but it's something I'm having to save for as you mentioned

    Good video. I disagree with the Grand Stone pick at practically the 6th spot but thats your list and I respect it. They’ll be #1 on my list comparing them with all the boots you showed. The contrast of the welt with the black leather make these so beautiful. Here in the US a lot people like contrast on their formal & semi formal shoes.

    Great video! I am just starting my high quality boot journey. I purchased the Allen Edmonds Patton boots and I love them. I got them for $150! Actually I think I would be happy with any of the boots on your list. I have very wide feet so I need foot ware that can accommodate that. And that is why I went with AE, but I am sure other companies offer extra wide as well. Although I did not see that option with Thursday boots. I am keeping my eyes out for deal on a pair of AE Higgins Mill. Every review I have seen raves about the comfort.

    I like the Cheaney Jarrow boot for a smarter boot that is not too smart. I have it in black and dark brown (Chicago Tan) CXL plus the very similar Herring Badminton boot which is also made by Cheaney. They have a touch of the Peaky Blinders about them. As does my Herring Shelby boot with a leather sole and a very dark burgundy colour.
    My Loake Hyde, Barker Lambourn 2 in cherry and Crockett & Jones Eskdale 2 also serve the same smart-ish and conservative style. The Barker has grained leather but a very elegant last and the grain is relatively subtle.
    Grained leather seems to be more popular amongst English manufacturers and I get the impression that many people outside the UK regard it as very casual but something like the C&J Coniston in dark brown grain is quite versatile..
    And, yes, I have just as big a boot problem as you and could have easily named an awful lot more in this category....

    First off. I love all of the boots in this top 5. Now this is strictly my opinion but aside from the R.M. Williams, the only type of sport coats and odd trousers that work with these styles of boots are heavier, textured fabrics. I wouldn’t be so bold as to go full suit even in textured fabrics but some could definitely pull it off. My IRL comfort zone w/ these boots wouldn’t stray past jeans, chords & chinos in 3-5 pocket configurations. The casual sport coats work only in the way that it might be expected to have one on standby for a meeting (forced expectations). A knit blazer, Mac coat, bomber, Harrington jacket, or various styles of Barbour jackets looks more harmonious to my eye with these boots than a sports coat. Not a knock on anyone’s style. Just what I’m comfortable pairing these types of boots with.

    • @drzaius844
      @drzaius844 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, I don’t wear storm welted boots with a blazer, unless it’s a descontructed blazer maybe. I stick with flat welted 270 degree GYW boots from Carmina, TLB Mallorca, and Carlos Santos. Even though many are jumpers and field boots, people (including myself) perceive them as dress boots in the States and they dress up extremely well.

    • @pattgsm
      @pattgsm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drzaius844 Yes Carmina, TLB Mallorca & Carlos Santos jumpers and field boot’s last and finish are more elegant and practically scream to be paired w/ suits or sport coats and odd trousers. While definitely more office appropriate, and city activities and not as conducive for site inspections out in the Australian country side. I think Allen Edmonds are great middle ground. The Longbranch, Higgins Mill, Dalton, Denali, Patton, Hamilton, Landon, Liverpool, and Lombard boots are all arguably office suit / sport coat appropriate but not so elegant that they look out of place in the field or as a factory manager that has more office work related duties. At least that’s how I use them and reserve Carmina and more elegant lasted brands as event shoes.

    • @drzaius844
      @drzaius844 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pattgsm I’m a project manager in commercial construction in the US, and I wear moc toe work boots for field inspections, as any site specific safety plan would require. A Higgins Mill or Landon boot would not be allowed. You can tell from our office attire who visited the jobsite that day and who didn’t. There isn’t a way to split the difference, you would just have to change clothes, and nobody bothers.

    • @pattgsm
      @pattgsm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drzaius844 Of course safety above all else. Perhaps my occupational example was off the mark. However, in the management positions of where safety boots aren’t required such as in management positions in hospitality service industries, academics, the arts and apparently Mr. Oh’s profession, the list of AE boots would definitely look the part when paired w/ jeans all the way up to suit they are more office ready than Mr. Oh’s fantastic boot selection but could easily work in jobs that do not require safety shoes. I wouldn’t go kicking rocks in them but I definitely wouldn’t lose any sleep if I did. As I view them as on your feet all day office shoes that are nice but will get scuffed from the daily commute and whatever the work day throws their way. They not elegant event shoes like the Spanish & Italian makers. One of my old bosses was the Food Service Department Head for a Chicago Marriott. He would wear suits everyday and AE shoes but he would not hesitate to take off his jacket and haul and change beer kegs! I would insist that he had on nice shoes (I wore a uniform at that time), but he insisted that they were not his nice shoes. I didn’t realize what he meant until yrs later as I learned more about the different tiers of quality shoes/boots lol. I would more likely wear Mr. Oh’s line up as weekend or off the clock boots.
