I hear all the birds in the trees, they're singing so happily, joyfully, oh playfully, watching...
That's a very Logical deduction.......sorry you had to wait 9 months🍻
That's Super! Tramp
You’re crushing the content variety.
I'm glad he is one that will finish something unlike the other channels like his that never seem to finish anything.
I agree, you have a lot of good and interesting projects and you don't make us wait forever for a new one! The other guys suck because they seem to run out of steam and or ideas.
You keep the crazy train going full steam!
Hell yeah, he has proven time and time again that he does not back down from a challenge
@@BuckDuck69I call cap. I can recall many times he had to sell a bike cause it was out his pay grade. Dude had a mint 2007 cr125 and sold it cause he didn’t know how to replace a crank seal. This dude acts like he knows stuff but in reality he don’t.
Everything that he owns becomes clapped
I love how vinny was squeeking his chew toy in background ... he was trolling the guys that complain about the beeping every vid ... 😅😮😅
Over 50 years old and watching this is literally one of the top 5 happiest moments of my life

Rough life huh

@@Day12My probably seeing one of these for the first time in a long while
That is a cute little ride-on 1960's boat. It looked a little front-heavy, like it was riding a few inches low in the front and plowing water. I would put a 10-12 hp Kawasaki or Honda four-stroke engine in it, beef up the engine mount area and experiment with adding some rear ballast weight (a round iron 20-30 lb. barbell disc in the bottom of the gas tank well?) and when I got it to where it planed with the rear an 1 - 2 inches lower and the front 2 inches higher, I would epoxy-coat (rino-liner, tuff-guard, etc.) it to rustproof it. And with the added speed and plane angle the rear rudder might need to be reduced to around 1/2 as large; I would experiment by making an aluminum collar for the steering shaft and then test various size bolt-on rudders until it turned fast at full speed but not too fast for safety. Then I'd tig weld the rudder to the hub, put it together with a stainless bolt and nylock and build another one as a spare. Finds like this little boat from the past and restomodding them with upgrades, add-ons, adjustments to the mechanicals, electrical, fuel delivery system, etc. while keeping the original look and vibe are the BEST...they're a little bit of a challenge, interesting, historical, they take some engineering, some creativity, good ol' wrenching, they're fun and useable and enjoyable when they're finished.
Looks like as much fun as mowing the yard.
Ha! My 3 year old, laughs at the sight of the slow speed of the "Jet Boat!"🧐
But me, i be like "What a day for a daydream!"🤣👍
Awesome work Joe. That motor is definitely down on power. I think it’s only running on one cylinder, I had a 5hp Evenrude of the same vintage and it reved significantly higher. It might be down tuned too, there were similar boats for theme parks that I’ve seen that had restrictive plates to make them only turn 2000 rpm or so when they should be at 6000 or so flat out. Also, an idea for the water outlet: instead of running the hose out and siliconing, you could bolt a barb fitting through the hole and connect the line to it.
yea needs a bigger motor
I had a geo metro, that came from factory with a 3 cylinder engine, drove it a year on 2 cylinders 😂....no wonder it had to be in 1st on a 10 degree incline...or any hill for that matter. Saved me some gas money! 😅 till my buddy said ... you need a new piston and head gasket....i said 200 its yours. He didnt buy it. Lmao!
if it have been used for rental or in a hollyday park, it will have been tuned down for safety.
just like you only get the learning key when you rent a jetski.
back then they just dident have learning key´s
those places would never get a insuriance if they let people go full speed (and you dont want to rent out anything with alot of power to drunk people on hollyday vacation)
and when they do that it is often ruff to the motor.
so if it have been used alot, it might have some damege from only running slow.
like getting a car from a old person, its starts gouing fatser when you ride it fast for a little time
i have an old 5 horse Johnson sea horse from 1946 and it pulls harder than that thing on an aluminum 12v haul with two people and a cooler. I agree with seanguaraldi2728 that motor is barley runnin. those 2 strokes need to open up to hit that pwr band. that tiny of a vessel with a 6 hp, or 5 should haul butt.
@@Hansen710 Tuned down or restricted in a way for sure. Could be an easy fix.
You’re not only really good with small engines , you find some of the coolest stuff made in the off roading industry. Amazing finds and repairs. Keep up the great job !
Have you seen mustie1? If not you would dig it.
@@dustinh4175 mustie1 is great!
Been looking forward to this one. I like watching old things come to life again. By the way, you are absolutely pumping out the content. Appreciate you a lot.
Yeah me too this is so old and so cool I love the boat
Good times. I had a vintage evenrude and couldn’t get it to run on both cylinders. It had a broken reed which was stainless. Put in a used replacement and it ran great 🎉
I was 6 or 7 years old and my parents friends owned a cottage in Michigan. We were there for a party and they put me on that exact boat and off I went ,things were great at first and then disaster!! The throttle stuck wide open and I kept riding by the dock screaming at the adults mind you I was probably going 5 miles an hour, finally I drove straight towards shore and someone opened the engine cover and killed the engine that was over 50 years ago. God I am getting old.
Awesome! Another vintage odd unique save! Again, I really dig when you save these type of old school beauties. Well done, Joe!!
Love this beaut Joe,looks like a rippa!👌👊🦾🦾🦾
You know someone really knows what their are doing when they don't know what a starter looks like especially when it dosent even have a electrical wire.
Nice job ...
That's really groovy and far out in a hip and happening way. Needs some 60's flower power art.
Back To the Futiure , needs a bigger Flux Capacitor !
That's a cool little getaway cruiser. You could use it a sa small eco tugboat...connect a flat bottom john boat to the rear with 2 tow straps. 3 friends...a cooler and fishgear.. maybe an extra 5 gallon gas can! And thats a party with a motor 🎉. I think its cool. Love tinkering with this stuff!
Fun little boat!
PFD….always have one. I highly recommend wearing it with smaller crafts.
This is very cool to watch, and somewhere out there some old person remembers riding these at a theme park or water world! Good work and excellent videos! Thank you for sharing...

Great job with the classic wave runner Joe, I love the background music of those Robin's make, I'm a huge admire of birds 🐦 🐦⬛ 👌 have a Great Day, Joe.
I love old stuff like this, everything was visible and tangible, you could see a broken part and tend to it.
Today with sensors and computers, everything's invisible and requires expensive diagnostic shit to "see" whats broke.
The sound of song birds, and a squeaky chew toy... nature at it's finest. 👌
The engine was made for leaded fuel pre 1975. You may want to use the higher octane gas. Predestination, or spark knock could be an issue.
Great to see this fun kids boat saved.
Nice to see George again too. 😍
This would be great for a child just getting started in water sports. Thanks for sharing, D
CHECK FOR RESTRICTOR PLATE/DESIGN BETWEEN/INSIDE INTAKE and check the carb/intake tube diameter and that the ignition advancing mechanism works correctly. And check the size of the drilled exhaust ports in the cylinder wall
Fun little cruiser. Thinking engine swap🤔Thanks for the learning moment.
Being born in the middle 70’s I was a baby when I last saw one of these. I do remember they scared me when I was little and they scare me now. Was expecting the thing to be a little faster. It is a 7hp motor. Enjoyed your video’s. Now drop a jet ski engine and then see what happens. 😂🎉
Great Cote t always a new surprise every week I live on the Outerbanks of NC I started my boating with a wooden skiff and a 6 hp Evinrude that motor isn’t producing what it’s capable of even with the collar around the lower unit u should be on plane with no issues. Pick another place after tuning it up you’ll be surprised at the difference!
Love the life jacket blends in with his top😂😂😂😂🇬🇧
KEEP UP THE different vlogs they are so interesting to watch...Have good one from Australia...💯🇦🇺...
That engine has little compression and im shocked it runs at all.that boat flys with a good motor in it.
looks like one of them stay close to the shore type crafts incase ya gotta swim back to shore?! 🤔👍
He is crushing the variety for sure. Just a side note when you hear squeaky carburetor linkage and squeaky throttle lever time for a shot of WD-40, our savior......
Now you need a fleet of bumper boats for the lake!
Primarily used in water parks, where weeds aren't an issue. Really cool little watercraft. I used to go to Knobles Grove in PA, about 30 years ago and they used to have bumper boats. Innertubes with a seat and a little .5hp outboard tiller motor with a centrifugal clutch(think, tanonka outboard motor). I was saddened when I seen they were removed(I'm sure for safety reasons). Man we had fun stuff back then.
A 22-minute in you showed that very nice sturdy looking boat stand. I'm now officially lazy shamed.....
Definitely only running on one cylinder, killing total power, otherwise very cool. Have to decide on whether to do a full ignition tune up for around 75 bucks is worth it. I'd expect at the very least 10 mph with that motor. Nicely done as usual Joe 👍
Lol that is as fast as they go.
I feel thw same thing, having running OK is another world
I've got an early 6hp and it should go way way better than that. If mine can move 4 people in a 12 foot tinny then your boat should fly
@@volvogt21exactly…that is a planing hull, granted it is a little overloaded !
@volvogt21 they don't go any faster lol.
Awesome job my friend. You always finding new rides for the channel. Keep the content going. No one touches your work ethic or content!!!
Absolute legend getting this gem back on the water.
I think you should put a jetski motor in this and then you wouldn't need that stuff hanging underneath the lil boat. I think that this boat would be able to handle a bigger motor and different steering. It would be fast and turn great plus you would be able to go in lower water in rivers and streams. Keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family. 💯👍😊🙏🏼
If you cant find a gas tank a Tupperware bowl would work, just glue the lid down and make a fitting. Great video again.
Hopefully you can find a good gas tank to fit, looking forward to an update vid. Great fix, found myself talking to the screen saying “change those rusty plugs” on the last video 😂
Fellow Wisconsinites are loving the channel. CAREFUL JOE!!
That's an OMC powerhead. If your order service parts for a 1968 6 johnson or evinrude they will fit. Quick tip. Replace your points and condensers with OEM evinrude points and condensers kit "tune up kit" also thoes ignition systems are designed to run champion J6C
buy whaler 15 rañge 85 hp omc jet drive
You can go up and down the Mississippi and write a book those motors are that tough
Just learn the channel
I have a Evinrude 6 all I'm saying is I don't think he has the timing as advanced as it could be or it would be planeing that boat out
He might have the carb wide open but I don't think the timing is on fast
That motor isn't winding all the way up
. Also a 35 horsepower of that era has a problem that size that thing is way over propped that's the problem.. the propeller on a 6 horsepower Johnson or Evinrude is about 7 1/2 in
i remember riding these as bumper boats as a kid really slow boats i was dissapointed
Being a 50 year old and having worked on and for an OMC dealer for 30 years, I can tell you that six horse is only running on one cylinder either low compression, or I need to work with the points and condenser‘s under the flywheel no fire, but that’s cool. I’ve never seen one of those.
Yes it is slow, it’s not a Sea Doo, but for an extra adrenaline rush, perhaps riding over Niagara Falls would be interesting (full speed, haha) with your best friends Joe- Vinny and George (in their life jackets of course)! Trailering and launching that beast is not fun! : )
that lower runs like a distributor slipping into its driver and driving pumps. at least in my 70s chevys
OREGON here💜Won't be draggin a skier..but it's a sweet lil' ride💯..takin my SeaDoo out today with my Lab pup on the Columbia river, n over to the island for some water Frisbee fun✅
.. Great vid👍
Joe, you should try to find one of those mini speed boats with a 20- 30 hp outboard on it ! Everyone loves speed lol. I'm going to look for a couple soon for my grandkids. I think they will love those ! Excellent video !
@scott, those boats aren't rated for outboard motors.
Yeah, I grew up with them in the late 70's and 80's. We called them Hydroplanes. Even with a Mercury 9.9 hp they would go 35 or 40 mph. They still sell kits for them. Put a 20 hp on one and it will go 50 mph or better.
Get yourself some Harbor Freight pneumatic tires for that boat cart so you can roll over those rough boat ramp surfaces!
Calling Capt. VInnie!! 😂
good thing you had your hat on backwards...the pure terrifying blind speed of that thing is something to known!!!
Love the content variety going from four wheelers and dirt bikes to boats to a mini bulldozer and everything else!
Keep up the great work Joe! Your content is excellent considering you are not scared to work on anything!
It's hard to believe you didn't change that water pump while the lower unit was off. Lol
To be honest that old one is still good and better then these new ones that wont last a year or two.
Briliant, shows the difference berween men and woman.

Good job fixing her up!
Thank you for saving this boat 😊
Water in the gearcase oil. Replace prop and shaft seal along with the gearcase seal. All parts easily available.
Great job bro! First bit of life it's had since 1971. This is awesome. Very cool! 🚢
Good video. Wouldn’t call it a jet boat since it uses a lower unit and prop unless you’re referring to the shape of the boat. Love the variety of videos. Keep them coming.
The perfect base to make it a jet boat though.
Its a jet boat with the venturi mounted around the prop. Later on they moved the venturi up inside the hull into the configuration most are familiar with today. Likely after dealing with all the damage from running them aground cracking the hulls around the hard mounted lower ends and snapping off rudders.
In that form though they should have been much more fuel efficient then the insane models we have today. A 50 to 70 MPH jet ski is great fun until you take a toss and hit the water.
Best!
@@neilfromclearwaterfl81 that by no means is a jet drive in any way, shape or form. It has no impeller, no bowl, no nozzle. That boat is powered by a traditional outboard motor, with a propeller that simply has a prop guard cast onto the lower unit for safety purposes.
@@Cradletothegrave67 Back then with the venturi at that length they were considered jets while a prop guard was much shorter. I remember those days very well. I understand it doesn't fit the model you kiddies go by today but back then Popular Mechanics and Mechanics Illustrated (I subscribed to both along with Popular Science) presented them as mini-jet boats with an external jet due to the longer tube.
Best!
Thats not a jet drive ore a prop guard.. its a prop nozzle that makes the prop more efficient and makes more torque 🙃
Great video just surprised on how slow it is but I guess you got to take its age into consideration I would have thought it would have at least got on plane 💯💯💪
That's as fast as they go they are for kids lol.
That one still has problems and isn't running right. The engine never gets even close to half its rpm's and needs more work. When they get on plane even with the original engines they are capable of double to triple the speeds shown here.
On an old one like that you really need to take the engine down completely to free the piston rings, check the cylinder bore and lightly hone it, clean the needle bearings on the crank shaft and con rod, replace the shaft seals, de-carbon the ports, clean and polish the reeds, etc, etc. Plus with all the corrosion in the pee hose, the water jacket and cooling pump really needed to be serviced.
There's quite a bit more potential here without installing a large power head.
Best!
That water pump is going to explode into a bunch of little pieces cause it's so old and hard lol

@fredcabor5258 your right I would hate to see him blow up that motor lol

Pretty cool machine! Based on water ripples and wind direction I got you at about 3.6 knots Captain.
Neat little boat and very informative video! One of the very first jet skis!

I drove a red one in kissemee fl. In 1992 and it was awesome i was 7 years old and it would fly ! Love your channel
Fascinating video !!! Great job !!! They have to make these again
Cool find and save. Thanks from Sc
I have a 76 Johnson 6 hp outboard and I can tell you that thing was only running on 1 cylinder. They rev up and make a much more musical RPM sound on full throttle than that. That sounded like idling. I think this thing is so cool though! Keep going and fixing her up! Subscribing!
Just because it doesn't has a resent sticker doesn't mean it wasn't in the water, we have multiple quarrys around here privately owned and people have all kinds of jet skis and mini boats in them that are not registered, looks like yours is in fairly good shape so it probably hasn't been over used, nice find
this is the first project i have seen on all of youtube where I think an electric upgrade would be awesome, more speed and reverse, plus no power would be an idle state.
I used to have this thing in my parents garage that we got from my grandparents. Had never seen 1 before or since and I wish I had been able to fix it and drive it before my parents gave it to another family member. Have never been able to find any information on it. From what I gathered it was called a aqua dart. Floating platform with a hole in the center for outboard motor. I guess you stood on it and steered the engine with a rope. Think it was from the early 50’s. I can’t even find a picture of 1
Good job figuring that thing out Joe! That was pretty cool!

A little more messing around with it you will have it, if you have a big enough drum to set the lower unit in that way u can put some torqe on the engine, and tune the carb might be timing advance is off from throttle adjustment if this engine has it? im a certified powersport mechanic and do the same things as you pretty much and from past experience with engines that size should scream you will def know when its right even with a decent size person in it...keep up the awsome work

Such a cool little toy! Nice filming Minty jade! 😂😁👍
That machine isn't turning up to full throttle. It is barely above an idle. Some throttle adjustment is in order. With 6 hp on that little boat, if properly adjusted it will fly.
OMG that stand is awesome.

Great to watch, looks like great fun and engine is amazing after all this time, well done Joe your a good egg.
At 8:32 you dont need sealant to reinstall the leg. Its a machine fit. You will need sealant and spaghetti seal for the gearcase though to change seals as there is definitely water in the oil.
This really seems like a novelty item. No wonder it was stored for such a long time. I had an inflatable kayak once. Great fun and you could store it away after use. Plus it had great exercise benefits.
Very Cool vlog. Love seeing these vintage boats going back on the water. You might want to consider the fact that it's not really a Jet Boat because it has a propeller.. but no big deal. Thanks for the great content.
