Thank you very much for this great video. I couldn’t get my conbee II stick to work trough ZHA until you advised to turn off the deconz app. That worked a treat for me and I can now connect to my zigbee devices. Thank you and please keep helping us novices through you great videos. Much appreciated!
hello, i also have a conbee 2, my configuration: nuc - proxmox - haos . both hu home assistant and win 11 on vm are not working. it starts but after 2 minutes it stops. while on a PC without proxmox it works fine, do you have any suggestions?
I use this with Zigbee2mqtt. I am in a rural environment and have been impressed by range. My network has about 90 devices in 4 different buildings. House, two garages and an observatory. I have some zigbee outlets which serve to extend the mesh.
I myself am on a farm using HA for the house and now looking at extending it to Hydroponics. Would love to see what you use in way of hardware and network configurations to see how you have potentially hardened your configuration.
@@AndrewDanne I haven't really done much to harden the system. I only allow external access through a VPN. Almost no Wi-FI around here except mine. I occasionaly see one or two networks available but basically my neighbors varn and thats it. I don't think I have a particularly strong model for you to follow.
The ZHA fails to use Conbee because you installed Deconz. You should not have Deconz add on installed at all if you want to use ZHA. No USB serial devices no matter what tech will work with two simultaneous programs.
Thanks so much for coming down and for the very generous gifts. It was lovely to meet subscribers and viewers and hopefully get more people interested in the Home Automation Hobby
Many people don't have solid WiFi on their property and not all WiFi devices can survive with out cloud contact :-( So Zigbee, Z-Wave, LoRa allow for isolation from WiFi (DNS, routes, etc..) and will in nearly all cases survive loss of WiFi / internet. When you test you system, remove your Internet connection for more that 60 minutes (allows for route timeouts) and see if all things are still functional. Yes Zigbee, Z-Wave and LoRa are more expensive but allow for a alternative networks and as they can create Mesh networks if hardwired (not battery) then you can create a solid network that is not reliant on WiFi or Internet.
@@AndrewDanne Just add another Wi-Fi repeater. My Wi-Fi router is powered via a battery with a charger. I have Wi-Fi even without light. Do not buy cloud dependant devices. They are dangerous by design. You need Wi-Fi. You do not need Internet. All my home works only vía Wi-Fi. I do not need Internet at all. It's more cheap too.
@cosmefulanito5933 - 2.4GHz is the most crowded spectrum on the planet, and in my home, I'm starting to see a lot of problems cropping up on 2.4GHz because of the number of devices I have linked to it, and I'm not running your everyday Consumer grade Wi-Fi! Alternative network types like Zigbee/Z-Wave/Thread etc allow for more reliable, lower latency, and more devices, without clogging up your Wi-Fi network and overflowing the ARP tables on your router.
@@HiveMindAutomation I have more than 50 devices connected to the automation Wi-Fi network. No problem with any. Never. Unless you live in a building with networks all over the place, you shouldn't have any problems either. Your case may be extreme and special. I don't have a problem with latency. 2 or 3ms is not a big problem. No device could cause a problem on my Wi-Fi network because I have a separate network for cell phones, computers, TVs, and other devices. The network for control devices is on another channel.

I'm not a Windows guy so I don't really have any relevant tips here. Sorry.
I'd recommend trying the Home Assistant Forums

Sounds like a good sized network. Thanks for watching.

Yes, I did figure that bit out. Thanks for the detail around the USB-Serial part though, Hadn't thought of that.
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow ☺️

Die Fingernägel hättest Du ja schon vorher schneiden können...
yep, sorry about that. I'm a bit more mindful of them now.
Just run all your house on 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi.
There is no point to use other very expensive methods.

I have hundreds of devices on an Asus AX router. Sorry WiFi is not up to it.
I am slowly moving to ZigBee or using Tasmota UDP packets.
