What a stressful cooking show to watch for John. Considering she had to lie about so many parts of her story to preserve her place. Im surprised he didn’t grab a drink or two afterwards.

"And who else was there that night?" Was such a weird question out of nowhere. The point of the story was to paint the Reich in a good light, and it had already been made. It didn't matter who else was there that night and I don't think they were investigating the Smiths harboring any Jews from before liberation, so it seems unlikely that they put it in the teleprompter for that purpose. It just seems forcefully added by the writers of the show to me

It's a casual question. Maybe they had extended family. Maybe they had friends. She was curious and wanted to fill up the time. There was no intention from her to catch them doing anything. The point of this scene is to show how a simple question like that can throw them off so much because they need to lie and keep up appearances.

The use of Nazi symbolism in this show was greatly overexaggerated, even more than in the real life Nazi Germany. There are swastikas literally in every imaginable place.
    - You pick up up a rock and the bugs from a swastika below it
    - You go into the bathroom, and the doorknob has a swastika on it
    - You change your flat tire, and there's a swastika in the hubcap
    - You go to the bookcase to pick up a (of course Nazi or Hitler-related) book, and the bookstands are shaped like a swastika
    - You take a dump, and the turds fall into the toilet forming a swastika
Not to mention everything is called 'Reich-' haha

Also the use of Nazi symbolism may seem exaggerated...at least in the Greater Nazi Reich because they wanted to Nazify the United States. If you live in the US, you would see everything with an American flag or in red, white, and blue. Buntings, American flags in forms of stickers, small American flags on toothpicks perhaps... Heck, even Boris Johnson tried to carry over the American culture of prominent flag usage to the UK. So, I think it's appropriate that the same type of culture exists in the GNR, only modified to be Nazi. Even with Jahr Null, the Symbols of American history (the largest being the Statue of Liberty and the Liberty Bell) were blown to smithereens or appropriated for Nazi usage.

The bounty of the Reich. The land of bountiful and abundant food! Never mind the fact that Germany could barely feed itself in reality even when they appeared to be winning the war. Ukraine in particular was important to Hitler due to its reputation for extremely fertile land. The idea that the USA, even a conquered USA, would be so short of food people were starving is one of many stretches in this show. lol. The US has land in major abundance and the majority of it is arable land. Much of that arable land is extremely productive and given the huge climate variations in the US, we have a much greater variety of food. Lots of grains, sugarcane, cotton, tobacco (in 1946), nut trees, vegetables of every type, fruit of every type including citrus, any type of meat you can imagine, huge variety of seafood, and lots of other things I haven’t mentioned. We also have huge expanses of grassland that is ideal for pasture for cattle, sheep and goats. So yeah, I seriously doubt that the benevolent Reich would be bringing us food. The Reich would have been loading shipload after shipload of American food and transporting it to Europe. The announcer in this video also drives me nuts in the way she pronounces Reich. She pronounces it Reish instead of the correct pronunciation. Plus---reichsgiving? Come on. lol. What’s next? Reichsmas? National Socialist Labor Day? EasterReich? And Columbus Day will be ReichMarshal Goering Day. Of course July 4 will be Hitler’s birthday. And before I forget, MLK day would be Fuhrer Day.

It's not about the nutrition itself but the total failure of a supply chain.

Y'mean like the Reichsmarschall, or the Reichsführer, or the archetype of the Reichssoldat or the...
It's sometimes hard for us to imagine since most of us don't live in fascist states, but fascist governments LOVE plastering their name anywhere they can. It helps them project power and seem omnipresent, both being good prop and making people think twice before acting against them.
Some of the examples aren't even grammatically correct, or at least are extremely forced in. Like, everyone knew what the Führer lead, calling it the Reichsführer was entirely redundant, but they did it anyway because it reinforced the connection between the führer and the body of the state. The Reichsoldat is even more asinine, since it's made a LOT more sense to call it the "Ubersoldat" or similar, but again they wanted one word to tie everything together.
