Himmlers wife being the head of the red Cross is one of those things in the show that just really fits. Like hoover leading the RBI.
The jews hate the Red Cross so of course the jewish writers made Frau Himmler head of the Red Cross
Himmler's wife, Margarethe Himmler, was actually the head of the German Red Cross.
She actually was a part of the Red Cross as a nurse during WWI
Excellent portrayal of Margarete Himmler by Gwynyth Walsh! Perfect!
The real Margarete Himmler wasn’t anything like this.
@@Sunburn2007 What was she like?
@@davidspeck8659 Well, going on what US and British interrogators documented about her, she was a very small town type of person. A naive demeanor. Unassuming. Folksy. Not particularly savvy politically and largely not interested in those things. Polar opposite from what you see here.
@@Sunburn2007 I did find this so I think she may have been more career oriented than people thought: Once World War II began, Himmler helped operate a military hospital affiliated with the German Red Cross. By December 1939, she was supervising the Red Cross hospitals in Military District III (Berlin-Brandenburg). In this position, she led missions into the territories and countries occupied by the German Wehrmacht.[27] In March 1940, Margarete recorded a business trip to German-occupied Poland, so she was certainly a witness to events there. For her efforts, Himmler reached the rank of colonel in the German Red Cross. So it looks like she was a colonel. Not that I lke Margrete Himmler. But I do really like this scene from Man in the High Castle.
@@davidspeck8659 Yeah but she was always a Red Cross volunteer throughout her life. Her party membership was nominal. Whatever rank she assumed in the Red Cross was token and largely due to her husband. But she really didn’t do anything of significance during the Reich’s existence. She was much more a “Nazi” after the war than she ever was before.
Was scared for helen everytime this woman was on the screen with her
If she wasn’t already intolerable by being Himmlers Wife. She’s very German in the sense that she’s efficient in the way she views her day and is precise with time keeping to the point of her day sounding completely monotonous. Day in, day out
Irl she was just as "dangerous"
While not being involved "entirely" in the crimes of the third reich (i.e., the holocaust), she was STILL fervently a "national socialist/antisemite" wanted jews gone fought to keep her husband's legacy pure etc etc
I mentioned this cause again. While she didn't personally get involved, she still heavily benefited from the regime/her husband's actions
This Scene is so so differently voiced in the german version of the Show. Obviously Helen cant say she isnt fluent in german in this scene, and Margarete doesnt even say something she wouldnt understand. Its funny how the english Version plays with switching between German and English from Time to time.
There's a German version? Can you show me
@@conspiracyflyer9531 just change the language settings of Amazon Prime from englisch to German, that should be enough
@@conspiracyflyer9531 I think he means dubbed
She reminds me of my mother. ❤
Seriously? LOL!
How... Sweet 😐
Reminds me of my
Gran Tomson my Mum's Mum
She had no time for other women ether & was straight to the point with venom she had no time for
Fools like Helen Smith ether.
I must say I always thought
The actress that played
Helen Smith was hot I forgot her name.
A snake, viper actually. Highly deadly.
Margarete giving Helen the finger: 1:25
The bigger finger is just getting a kiss on the cheek and not giving one back. And Himmler is a European, a lot of peoples kiss two or three times on the cheek when greeting.
The Reich's Red Cross! I wonder how these two were compatible in this universe
Believe it or not, the Nazi party were avid supporters of the red cross. No saying that makes them good by the way, still complete assholes.
The Red Cross visited the _camp_ twice during WW2. They never reported anything _suspicious_
She was high-ranking in the Red Cross in real life
@@jonathanwpressman I know. It's just the compatibility of the Reich's and Red Cross' values I'm pointing here.
@@art_hist_2000 ahhhh I see
Her arm band doesn't make much sense (Deutsches medizinische Hilfe lol, it's not even grammatically correct, it would be Deutsche medizinische Hilfe, but even that is a very strange term, they could have just written Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) and in season 4 they apparently didn't have the budget to hire actual Germans anymore. In season 1, they had some good Germans, so sad.
Absolutely, they could have asked on every German / English online forum within 5min how it's grammatically correct, but they apparently didn't even try.
I thinnk they just dont wanna get sued by the real red cross (they are sue happy)
Frau Himmler is very 'woke' in an Aryan sort of way.
Would you care to explain how 'Frau Himmler's wokeness in an Aryan-esk way.' Are you referring to 0:41 to 1:10?
@@113-M yeah I confused also
Frau Himmler is involved in her husband’s work, whilst having work of her own. Then she leers at Helen because Helen does nothing more than clean the house and take care of the kids.
I think they mean that she's "feministic", in the satirical sense that she bosses around her husband.
@yat9779Don’t see how that’s “woke”. Do people even know what “woke” means or has it just become a buzzword at this point?
Really expected this to be an alternate Maggie Thatcher for some reason.
You mean to tell me this wasn't Maggie Thatcher? I couldn't tell the difference.
I can definitely see whare your thinking comes from in this clip she is like a Nazi
Margaret Thatcher that is to say an Iron Lady I would have to say my Gran Tomson was very much an Iron Lady was well she could whip the floor with anyone verbally.
Sehr starker Deutsch-Niederländischer akzent auf Margarete😂
Hahaha I'm dutch myself and it's so funny to hear
You are dismissed
Frau Himmler here is a cold fish. Jeez she's a heartless old battle ax.
Yeah I was terrified for Helen whenever she was on screen
@@honeywine3166 Frau Himmler could scare the mess out of the head of SPECTRE from the James Bond novels and movies Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Rosa Kleb from the movie From Russia with Love would be scared of this woman.
Oh she has a heart. It's just made of iron. Ice cold.
unless you want a dominatrix. Then it can be fun!
Good Lord. That's an image I've got to get out of my head.
You are dismisssssssed
🐍
Margarete Himmler here looks straight up queen!
Lol, i´m a full flegded german and even I didn´t understand, what she was trying to say at 2:36. Also the spelling of "Deutsches medizinische Hilfe" aside - i truly believe that Himmlers wife is the last person supposed to be there ;D
"Seine Lebenskraft steigt" The prononciation was very awful by some actors.
0:17 did she just throw her coat at the floor?
No between 0:17-0:21 you can see her handing the coat to the maid
I thought it said helen keller, I was waiting for the good part.
You’d think the Reich Red Cross would be renamed to something like the Reich Red Irminsul or something that’s not Christian coded
Mrs. Smith is a ancestor of Joseph Smith.
I bet she was fun at tupperware parties.
Stimulants cloud ze mind.
Germans were very bonked out on methamphetamines after 1938 (pervatin was available without a prescription) -- one can assume this would have coninued well into the 1960's. I know that in the USA people were also using amphetamines during the war in factories and in the military, but usage was not as widespread.
@@eddihaskell nope the nazis planed on cracking down on it after the war (a sthey sarted seen the negative long term effects of ther use)
-
they just needed it to end the war
Charming woman. 🙄
Her morning routine is pretty good for you though
Helen Himler sounds like any socialite wife
"Frau Himmler..."
*WHINNY!*
“Blücher!”
💯
Fun fact: Himmler had two families.
who were they
@@honeywine3166 Basically his secretary.
Next time, they actors should get some German pronunciation training before, because their German sounds as if Dutch people would speak German. And even the Dutch people have a better German pronunciation.
Maybe you Germans should have won the war if you wanted proper German pronunciations outside of Germany.
@@owenlindkvist5355 Not everybody who speaks German is from Germany, but you are probably too uneducated to understand this.
@@BattlestarGentoo And your failure to understand a simple joke points out how very German you are. Bravo.
@@owenlindkvist5355 A joke has a payoff. Yours didn't have one and there are no signs of irony as well. So you don't know how to make jokes.
And by the way, I hate Germany because it is a communist leftard country now.
Does tea/coffee really cloud the mind?
A cup of tea in the morning is a always a good thing. Same goes for a glass of Sweet Tea in the summer. Yummy.
i thing this is a heydrich reference
-
in that show they gave himmler and his goons heydrich traits
-
heydrich was sayed to take no stimulants except one cup of "coffee" each day
Helen wasn't blond enough for her.
Did she end up getting killed? I hope so.
I mean lots of high command and her husband were murdered in a coup, so probably dead. This character was only in the show for a few lines tough.
Yikes… just yikes… It’s like a parody and a bad one at that. And the German is so badly pronounced…
Katherine from Gotham is worse. She’s like Hillary
got any videos of her?
@@honeywine3166 I'll find something
Characters in Gotham is overdone lol, Margaret is pretentious and elitist but this is ridiculous LOL!
