Finally someone has clarified certain aspects that many have not said. I mean the different resolution on A7III (4K) or A7S3 (1080) using these lenses and the multiplication factor, is a lens for the aps-c format that can be mounted on full frame sensors. With a friend of mine we are using the Sirui anamorphic 50: a follow focus is essential in my opinion. Good job!
Hey Josh, another great video! I returned this lens after a lot of experimentation with my a7sIII. There are several videos on TH-cam that will show you how to sidestep the 1080p issue and use the clear-zoom function on the A7SIII, where you can automatically crop it to 1.5x in the camera and still be able to shoot in 4K. Unfortunately for me, I was still getting some very slight vignetting on the left side of the frame, although others have said they didn't. I suppose I could have just cropped it out in Premiere, but the 1.5 crop alone seemed to excessive to me in addition to the lack of auto focus, so I sent it back to Sirui. I thought the lens was beautifully made and very sturdy. I really wanted to like it... I've been shooting with Moondog's anamorphic lens on an Iphone for two years now, and I was really addicted to the anamorphic composition. I would pay double what this lens costs now if Sirui could create a full-frame version of this, triple if they could create an AF function!
I am very interested is it worth to buy aps-c camera just to buy this or just use it on A7SIII. I believe eventually it will be released on full frame, but would love sirui to approve it lol. Or maybe just save for A7iii because it is getting cheaper lol
thanks for your information about the a7s3. You say that you get a 1080 image because of the crop. But I saw that you not crop the 4k codec. you crop the hd codec. right? So, cropping in an hd footage, you get less than 1080. Right? I can't crop in with the 4k codec? Thanks Marco

You totally misunderstand what anamorphic is or supposed to do. You're only using it for the artifacts. In anamorphic the image is squeezed, not "stretched", hence why it's called "de-squeezing"
Try the clear image zoom fonction on the A7siii you will have 4k video and you will have better quality overall compare to 1080p! Nice video :D

It won't be 4k, more like enhanced 2.7k/3.2.k but that;s good enough 99% of cases ;)
Just use clear image zoom on the sIII, you can still get a 4K readout.
Thanks for the comment. But it still wont really be a 4K image. It's a digital zoom which will make me lose resolution as well.

24mm on full frame should be 24mm, it’s 36mm equivalent in crop/aps-c
