  • What is resampling and how do we do it in REAPER?
These questions answered and more int this video.
    What is reasampling?
It is essentially taking the output of one track and recording to another, usually for the purpose of further sonic manipulation in a sampler that wouldn't be possible without committing to new files.
    Routing in reaper
    3 tracks are needed
One for sound source (a synth with fx), one for recording the sound in realtime, and one for a sampler (ReaSamplomatic5000).
Track 1 (source) sends to track 2 at unity gain. Track one master send is disabled.
Track to is set to Record Mode: Output Stereo
After recording the interesting sounds are imported into ReaSamplomatic using the "Import from arrange" button or CMD-Option / CTRL-ALT - Drag into the plugin.
In ReaSamplomatic5k we can further process the sound with pitch bend, pitch offset, looping, playing chords and trying different resample (the other kind 😉 ) modes for better or worse quality sound when stretching.

I always intended to look at this in more detail but procrastinated. I'm quite happy dropping in some semi-melodic drum sounds and turning them into actual melodies. Thanks!

You should mention "loop start offset" and "xfade", they work together and can make really indistinguishable looping.
It would be nice if they make multisampling machine, so samples can be mapped to a key, like Slicex in FruityLoops.

Wow awesome! How did you chop the crop the same on one keystroke before importing it? Like splitting on both sides

Why are there even resampling modes here since the sampled audio piece is just being slowed down/sped up anyway along with the pitch changes?

I like to know how to do the first resampling, the changing of the frequency. Any steps?

Resampling is a very important Topic Nowadays. Luckily REAPER is all set for that. Its just time for Updates of some of the ReaPlugs.

Do you know how can I separate every drum element on a separate track after having done the drums in ReaSamplomatic500?

After you record a sample strings sound, can you do that with the recording so you have your own version of that strings sound?

I can't get reaper 6 to obey importing from arrange for just the one part, using selection markers on the time bar like you did only imports the whole track length. Awesome video, thank you!

It kills me that rea5000 does not allow samples to be mapped across the keyboard in one instance, it forces you to have a VST instance for each key. PAINFUL.

Great video, but is there a way to change the pitch and keep the same tempo? That's what a lot of people really want

not possible with this sampler. Something like Kontakt would be more suitable

  • @Otakutaru

Q: How do you trigger MIDI input into the VSTi without using the onscreen MIDI or something like that? First I though that you were using a MIDI controller, but... Maybe not xD. Just want to know if there's some "magic" key that would allow playing a sound while tweaking the VSTi.
    Love your videos BTW.

Since no one else gave this as an option, although this is from a long time ago, there is the option of insert>midi event, then double click on the blank midi clip and draw it in in the piano roll view. Can also use the virtual midi keyboard

Reshampling gud but it has to tweak a lot esp for notes value if I put 4 sample drums each time .
I want few basic things like slicex in fruity loops n drag n drop drum machine in bitwig otherwise this daw is complete.

Then you want a drum sampler, it's something completely different than resampling. There's plenty of them out there for you to download and use.

How do I play multiple instances of reasampleomatic, sequentially, on a channel? Example: I place three instances of the plugin in a channel, and I want them to play in sequence. In chain order. With just one key on the piano, I want you to play the reasampleomatic of the channel! I don't want to use the baby plugin, I want to use reasampleomatic. I'm going to cut a guitar loop and put it in several instances in the reasampleomatic, so I want it to play in sequence. This way, I can increase the project's pbm and the guitar accompany it. If I put the full sample of the guitar in the reasampleomatic, and increase the speed, the plugin cannot make the loop speed up. The Track BPM.

Not really so useful. U can do all that things in synth like massive or serum. Unless you have sound that you can't design

    • @TheREAPERBlog
      @TheREAPERBlog  8 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Then don't do it. Just putting the technique out there because people have been asking. Not everyone has massive and/or serum too.

Yep. I don't have a powerful third party sampler and ReaSamploMatic5000 is a (fairly) easy way for me to take any sound and throw it on a MIDI device. However, it can be a little tedious when using multiple sample tracks, so I generally keep this sampler simpler!
