Saturday afternoon I cut out the skirt and sewed it together and hemmed it. I started at 1pm I was finished at 4:30pm. Had time for a nap before making dinner.

Good job! Cutting the fabric in 3 pieces can be eliminated depending on the fullness desired for the skirt, length of the fabric & position of zipper - its a personal choice. 2 meters (yards for Americans) was used in this tutorial, 2 rectangles cut the same size followed by cutting 1 layer in half for a center back zipper.

Thanks for teaching me another way to gather, which is by hand. I tried to use my machine but the thread kept breaking because I'm having issues with my bobbin holder.

Zipper is the hardest part for novices. I wish you had shown that part in more detail.

Hello Wilma! Thanks for commenting. If your fabric of choice is not too thick and you don't use an excessively long piece of fabric to gather, a regular sewing machine will do just fine. ;)

Hello! The result will be different with a circular pattern. Both are pretty, but for border print fabric, you need to gather rectangles to avoid cutting out the print. 😁

Great tutorial, would however advise people try and pattern match ( line everything up like you would with wallpaper) if they make one long rectangle of fabric. Also if you line the metel bits of the top of the zip with the top of the waistband, then sew as in the video. the zip will look better. The loose bit of zip sticking out can then be folded out of sight and sewn into place :) happy sewing peeps .
