Ren got you again on this track. Yes, the lyrics are more mainstream and less deep, but the visuals allude to a lot of deeper topics. The jist of "Animal Farm" by George Orwell is the animals rebel against the human farmer because they don't like his rules and think he is cruel. Then, slowly over the course of the book, the animals behavior becomes just like to humans to where they are ordering each other around, manipulating each other, and creating a class system. They ended up no better than the humans, and in some cases worse. Great social commentary.

The ending visual with the cane and the people in the streets is so Clockwork Orange that if I was walking down the street and saw it I'd be backing away... lol. The Orwell reference is great because you can delve into it if you want to go deep but you can also completely ignore it. The number of friends... and friends of friends... he had to rally ... especially in the tub... I'm not sure how they made that gooey but kudos to the ladies - getting everyone to move mark to mark with the masks and the timing needed... so impressive.

I'm up there in age and the opening intro reminded me so much of this old hilarious song called..."They're Coming To Take Me Away Ha Ha" a 1966 novelty song by Napoleon XIV from the UK. No knock on Ren though, just had to get that out because of similar beat and lyric flow.

The Tale of Jenny and Screech is pure Ren, not mainstream. It is a dark tragedy but is amazing storytelling.
This video has Touches of George Orwell " animal farm" , And " a clockwork orange" I believe Directed by Stanley Kubrick. The writing upon the wall it's beginning of the video reflex the same writing the animals put on the side of the barn in the novel. I have heard it commented that this is a book that critiques the rise of communism in the Former Soviet union. In the flavor of anarchy I believe comes from a clockwork orange. Not to mention his white suit. Anarchy Reportedly Bring freedom. Communism Reportedly Releases animalistic Tendency.

This song has crazy layers but it takes a bit of context.
This song is amazing because it’s essentially animal farm from the first person perspective of Napoleon, the book’s protagonist.
At the beginning of the video in the first room with the prisoner tied up you can see the laws of animals from animal farm on the wall.
But this song is the animals from Orwell’s Animal Farm have taken over the farm and they are starting to expand and take over more things, hence the reference to burning parliament down and then taking to the streets at the end.
The eating of animals is also from the book. That and wearing skins. It’s a sign of their corruption.
There’s a ton of references to it you’ll catch if you’ve read that book. If you have listen to it again from that context. It’s nuts.

They do covers and original songs a completely different genres. most of Ren’s tracks are 1 take or live he is amazing. The more I watch the more I love this artist I haven’t seen 1 track I didn’t like.

You will find the pig in all of Ren's newer songs. What it is supposed to represent is open for discussion as Ren has said in various interviews that he leaves it up to the viewer to put their own meaning on it.
As for suggestions for other Ren songs, I'll leave it to all the others who will undoubtedly inundate you with titles. I suggest you listen to an artist who has done two beautiful duets with Ren ("How To Be Me" and "Chalk Outlines"). As a solo artist, Chinchilla has an amazing vocal range, try "Fingers Live for Hunger TV", "Little Girl Gone"(there are two versions and it's almost impossible to choose between them even although they are vastly different in style, PLEASE do both versions). "Shadows" is my personal fav and to finish, just to shock you, try "One Time". Enjoy!!
Well done guys. It's always okay to give criticism, it's just that some people get disrespectful with it. Musical taste is definitely subjective. This is not one of my favourite Ren songs. If you guys want to see more of his rapping ability, Genesis and The Hunger are definite must-listens.
