Ren is siiiiiick 🔥 And this is the sickest ad for some sick boi merch 😂 He gotta put that sweatshirt up on the merch store! Seriously though, Ren showing love for music he loves with his ReNtakes is yet another reason to love him. Somehow he manages to be humble and show respect for other artists while spitting braggadocios bars 😅 Not quite sure how that’s even possible, but hey it’s Ren doing Ren things 🤣
@@Suziejouk-zj6eoI'd seen others come up with that too, but I don't think it lines up with what Ren is all about. Ren is all about raising everyone up, so I think it's a play on the sentence itself. If you don't know what the word is, how can you complain about what you don't know? I think that's a lot smarter, more positive and a more "Ren" take to me. But that's just my take. All love here ❤😊
@@Suziejouk-zj6eo Sorry but you probably just haven't heard Ren saying he actually didn't say that or any of the other derogative terms that people had been spreading since the song came out , he said something nonsensical , @CyntaxEraNZ is right 👍🫂
Sounds like you caught his shout out to pi day 3.14. At 8:33 how about the old school bus driving by while he is showing respect to the old school Rappers. Finally the length of REN’s Halftime is Exactly Half the length of NAS’ official Halftime video.
Yeah, he added the drum roll at the beginning, the guitar riff when he stops walking and the camera circles him and you might notice 3 little guitar licks on the 4/4 beat. It’s all very subtle but effective!
love that serendipity....just like the car (trolly) horn, as well as the lights and sirens framing Chinchilla in their live busking of "One Dance/Drunk In Love"...
Nas original handle was kid wave. Ren introduced the scheme about pirates at the stop sign so he could reference not just pie but he says waviest guy in his rap to reference early Nas He is amazing Also the reference to. Atomic physic scheme is not just put there as a rap filler he did it because the original beat Nas used came from an album called breaking atoms Even Ai couldn’t come up with that level of rhyme construction Greatcreaction
Great reaction man. 👍♥ Love how you're overwhelmed again, again and again. Yea, Ren is a quite clever guy. Wise beyond his years. And he knows a lot of/about music. He often has some easter eggs in his songs/videos. I think you got most of the references in the song. I guess not everyone is aware of this. And I have the text in my archive anyway. 😉 Ren's retake has some references, not only to Mike Tyson and the rappers Notorious B.I.G. (r.i.p. Big), Mac Miller (r.i.p. Mac), 2pac (r.i.p. pac) and Lil Peep (r.i.p. peep). 'R.I.P Mack' is at the same time a hint to the song 'Mackay' which he released after this one. That song is dedicated to his friend Callum Mackay who drowned in an accident. There are also these: - The out-beeped verse is: Like a feminist with nothing to complain to. He published it like that from the beginning. And immediately there was a big puzzle about what he was saying. - "I'm the waviest guy" refers to Nas' former nickname 'Kid Wave'. - "An isotope, a proton and a neutron in the nuclei..." refers to 'Breaking Atoms' one of the first albums Nas was involved in. - "sleep is the cousin of death" is a line from Nas' song 'N.Y. State of Mind' from the Illmatic album. Also a reference to 'Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst' by 'Kendrick Lamar', another rapper Ren loves. - Also, the "China without rice, Bible without Christ" was homage to The Big Picture album by Big L (from the intro). - "It's like rats to the music when I'm feedin 'em pie" like the pied piper. - Ren said that the traffic light thing was a coincidence. But he was very happy about it. - Ren's song is 2:10 which is Halftime! of the original (4:20). - The song was release on Pi-day: 14th of March. US date notation: 3/14. On his channel RenMakes Stuff you will find a BTS video about how the did this video.
Wow thanks for all those details. I'm learning all this type of music since last years Rens discovery . I'm loving the learning and appreciate the history !
Loving your videos. Great to hear your take with the hip hop history & those that have trail blazed before. Following your journey down the rabbit hole & commenting for the algorithms ✨
@@BigMikeReactionsThat whole part was just a comment thread under Nas's "Halftime" video on TH-cam. Ren decided to take and use it in the song. 😅 He's brilliant and hilarious! 🧡
Rikashae went on a quest to figure the beeped word, as I understand it the whole scheme from "rap without Ren is like" is based on comments section for Nas halftime video on youtube in reply to question what is rap without Nas.
BTW, here are his best flows in my opinion: Wicked Ways The Hunger Down On The Beat Castles Made Of Sand And if you want to hear more British rappers then there’s a duo the likes of which you’ll have NEVER heard before, then try Pete & Bas doing “T-Pain”
Love how he hits this track with nothing but love and respect. Such a great homage from an up-and-coming rapper, to all those that came before. It's just SO 'Ren' : )
Ive heard this before, and I know a ton of RENs work by now, but why?! REN curses like a sailor, talks about drugs, death, violence, sex, domestic violence, self harm… unapologetically and without batting an eye, why hide that?! Or for that matter why not just put something else in? It’s like he goes to great lengths to make a point and I don’t get it.
Yay! This is such a fun one. Ren pulled from the comments section on the original Halftime video for the lyrics in that whole part where he bleeps part of it out.
He blurred a word to be controversial- he made a joke about it a few days prior to release. 😂 The pirate scheme was a nod to when Nas performed as “Kid Wave” when he was starting out. I’m so glad to see this one getting attention. 💜
New sub. You are sharp with Ren's lyrics, most can't understand him first listen and/or use lyrics which is fine. They didn't catch hardly anything you caught. Catching the cross walk was being very aware, and the pii-day. Great job sir. I'm your neighbor to the east. I live in Northwest Wisconsin. I noticed you're a Minny-soooota Vi-queen fan...😂
March 14, Pi. First time got that. Would take a lot to take apart all the bars but love those who capture something different. He’s pretty awesome eh! Also getting the King Arthur references I catch because of my name. This song is awesome and so is your reaction. Peace and love
Well done sir, I'm truly impressed, you are indeed a hip-hop head, very few catch that the Mac he was referring to was Craig Mac, and the infamous photo of Diddy giving Craig and Biggy their signing bonuses at a McDonalds in Big Mac boxes. You also caught the nod to NY State of Mind with the "Sleep is the cousin of death" line!! I think the line he blurred out said something about "a bitch", meaning like a woman, Ren was coy about revealing what he actually said, and from other things he's stated, my guess is he bleeped out the word in the style they bleeped out words back in the 90s, not like today where the audio goes mute for a split second. Also, I'm pretty sure Ren didn't touch the beat til the second half, the person you hear say "right right right" in the mix, is Jay Z, and I'm not sure if it's in both versions. Halftime was released before illmatic, on a movie sound track, Zebrahead, a year or so before he released illmatic, Jay Z's voice might have been removed after their falling out. The brass horns you hear in the background are in the original, Nas put them in there as a tribute to his dad, who is a blues/jazz musician, at the halfway point, where Ren stops for a minute, the brass horns are replaced with a crunchy guitar lick, that's the only thing I'm aware of that Ren changed up as far as the beat. Great reaction!! ✌💚
Ren's lyrics are so deep. The atomic lyrics was a reference to Breaking Atoms album by Main Source because of the connection between Large Professor and Nas.
He also finishes his Halftime in exactly half the time of Naz original 🤯
Pie bars Pi bars released on 3.14
He's definitely not AI! I've seen him live! :) Whether, or not, he's an alien has yet to be confirmed... :)

He said the traffic lights zero was unplanned but that serendipity tends to follow him around.
Same with the school bus when he is talking about all the lost rappers who schooled the generations after ;)
Also the spinning globe stopping on Columbia in Money Game 3
True, like the bus part
@@chguardiI thought I read or heard something about using a piece of string to control the globe somehow?
