It would make my day 😊
The end joke is lost on most of us that don't live in the US, but the microwave is meant to be a Radarange microwave from the 70's/1980. Now you all know...
I live in the US and didn't know it was a brand pun
@@coyraig8332 me neither lmao, probably one of the only jokes in the film that falls flat.
The Amana brand "Radarange", because microwave frequencies were discovered during research into RADAR ("RAdio Detection And Ranging").
@@NeonBeeCat and to be fair, this movie was released in 1980. For a 44-year-old comedy, it holds up pretty well.
@@NeonBeeCateverybody understood that one when the film was released. It’s funny how references age out. I remember watching Archer with my nephew and realizing he was missing about 1/4 of the jokes because was too young to get the references (e.g., Father Guido Sardouchebag).
Would have never guessed that was him
You only see him in profile, so yeah, I didn't know and _Airplane!_ is one of the movies I've seen so many times it's nearly memorized.
Fun fact! It’s the 1st film Jonathan Banks has appeared in actually before he was super popular in breaking bad actually!!!!
I would have been able to tell you I'd seen that actor before, but there's no way I would have been able to tell you from where.
It's funny because in some of his other stuff (especially Beverly Hills Cop) he looks very similar.
@@LadyhawksLairDotCom only see him in profile, but it's clearly his face.
That last joke only works if you understand that radarrange is an older name for microwave oven
Thank you, I'm too young to have known that.
I only know that because they call them "reinji-obun" (range oven) in Japanese
I didn't know that, but I knew radar uses microwaves.
Meh, the visual absurdity works enough for me. I never knew there was context for the joke lol
……………..yes
You forgot one of the best bits: "He's all over the place! 900 feet 1300 feet, what an asshole!"
Literally one of the best lines in the movie
We had a good thing going….
Los Pollos Airplanos
ROTFL made my day !
Chicken plane. 🤣
That's great
The fact it actually translates it 💀

Waltuh, put your landing gear away waltuh
We're not landing waltuh
I’m landing your gear rn waltuh
Here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna get on a plane to Chicago to win back your stewardess ex-girlfriend. You're gonna order steak, but the pilots and navigator will order fish. They'll get sick and pass out, leaving only you able to fly the plane. You'll have to land the plane yourself, despite your crippling PTSD from a failed mission in the war, aided only by your ex, a doctor who isn't named Shirley, and a war colleague who doesn't know how much you hate his guts. Just keep calm, try not to drive too many people to suicide with your life story, and remember: Good luck. We're all counting on you.
And remember, Hijacking is a federal offense, so don't yell "Hi, Jack!" to your friend at the airport.
Seems simple enough.
Amazing
Kinda like "When pigs fly!" "Hey, we've got air Marshall's now.
And don't call me Shirley.
what if airplane movie is about the plane from breaking bad?
Lmfao! Aw man the last scene here got me. (Opens the microwave) “about 2 more minutes chief!”
Whoa…… hits blunt…
Lol no wonder it crashed
It isn't??? 😮
🤯
The genius of Airplane is that we keep finding a new joke every second, even the ones that aren't intended, every time we watched the movie. Like that surreal scene of Mike checking out the "Radar Range" microwave, followed by Airplane cast on "instruments".
So true 😁
Pretty sure those jokes were intended.
@@daveidmarx8296 Exactly. I don't get what OP meant by unintended jokes.
It was called the Amana Radarange. We had one.
But the one in this scene isn't an Amana Radarange. I've been looking for the same one online but can't find it. The dials look somewhat like a Sharp, but in a different configuration.
"Radarange" was sort of a generic reference to any kind of microwave oven back in the '70s, kind of like "Xerox" was any copying machine.
It was years before I caught that the plane engine sound effects were for a prop plane.
This is the moment Mike Ehrmantraut became Donald Margolis
Searched for this comment and found it ;)
*facepalm*
Mother of god! I’ve seen Airplane! a thousand times, never knew Jonathan Banks was in it! 🤷🏽♂️
Me too! And even funnier that the peak of his career was on breaking bad! Even tho he been the entertainment industry since the 70’s
Same goes for seeing him in Gremlins.
I only recently realized he's the main bad guy's right hand man in Beverly Hills Cop, and gets killed in the first part of 48 Hours. Dude is solid.
@@JessicaGarcia-xf9wrglad Walter ended him
kid named airplane:
Jonathan Banks like the Forrest Gump of movies - he's been in a lot of our favorites throughout the decades.
What?
@Chuck Buskee Jurassic Park just to name one.
@@bryanferratt6598Do The Right Thing as well
@@dakotahmays1437Never seen, heard, or tasted that movie before 🎥😋.
Under Siege 2 , Beverley Hills Cop and Stir Crazy .
If Jimmy ever got wind of this footage of Mike with hair, he’d never let Mike hear the end of it.
then mike would _really_ leave him in a hole in the desert
Waltuh I have become an air traffic controller Waltuh
Kid named airplane:
One of my favorite lines ever: "It's about two more minutes chief." 🤣
Strikuh, you gotta land the plane Strikuh.
This movie is so blink and you’ll miss it. The guy in the beginning getting laundry in the background 😂
chicken looks totally pale
"It's about two more minutes chief."
You missed the best part: "He's all over the place. 900 feet up to 1300 feet...what an asshole!!"
I think you have to know that microwaves were originally called Radar Ranges in the US. Range, like a gas range or grill.
Great fact! This joke is lost on most of us that don't live in the US. I couldn't find this particular model, but it is or is meant to be a Radarange microwave from the 70's/1980.
@@stoopidvideoz The Radarange was made by a company called Amana and first sold in the US in 1967.
@@markkershenblatt The Radarange was originally made by Raytheon, a company better known these days as a defense contractor. They developed the Radarange after discovering that the radio emissions from their radar systems would cause objects in the path of the emissions to heat up.
@@cmgeorge12 One can't help but wonder how they "discovered" that :D
a plane named finger
Finger is a turbojet plane with a turboprop plane sound
Kid named finger
A kind named flight navigator.
Let me fly in peace.
Walter White downvoted this.
An actor for 50 years. Probably less than 10 roles where he is not a henchman of some bad guy
2 more minutes chief. No half measures here.
0:03 Surely, that's Mike. "Wayfarer 515, are you on instruments ?" Oh crap, I jus't can't believe it.
You better believe it. And don't call me Shirley.
Waltuh...I'm landin' this plane right now waltuh
This is the moment Mike became Flysenberg
Try something new, casual.
This is priceless !!
Primarily I first got Jonathan Banks on my radar when watched the I in my opinion iconic 1981 TV show "The Gangster Chronicles" where he made an outstanding portrayal of the New York gangster Dutch Schulz. Then as Algren and Zach in the Eddie Murphie films "48 Hrs." (1982) and "Beverly Hills Cop" (1984).
Being a true fan of Airplane films which I have seen a zillion times I IMMEDIATELY knew Bank's part when I read that he was in one of them too
the funniest movie I've ever seen!
Waltuh, you’re rapidly descending waltuh, you need to pull up waltuh
Watched it twice, Can't even tell which one he is. I can't picture him as anything other than an old man. LOL
I recognized him...but only once it was pointed out to me...geez.
He was in a lot of great movies... Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours and of course, this one. 😊
Air traffic controller named finger:
Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, and Jonathan Banks all in one scene. Nothing but GOATS 🫡
And these days he's Robert Stack and Lloyd Bridges combined!
finger
i always forget jonathan banks was in my favorite movie and whenever i remember it's like a massive train hitting me at full speed
As Mike Jonathan had something very Stallone like seriousness in his expressions. I had no idea he was part of my most fav comedy flick. Would have never guessed!
that last line "about two more minutes chief" you can just subtly here his cadence he would later use for mike.
He cooks chicken and he is a radar operator like the father of that Jesse's gf ? Bravo vince you gosh darn genius.
44 years later and just now I'm knowing this! And I watched this movie lots of times!
It's the film that keeps giving 😊
Walthur
Don't think that chicken had enough stickers...
LOL. I never knew that was him.
He definitely should do more of this king of comedy
That bird is not 2 minutes away from being ready for serving
"Actually, Landing an airplane is very simple. Most people get it on the first try."
Ayyy! It’s Mike Ehrmantraut when he use to have hair bro!!!!
I just learned today that Jonathan Banks was in Airplane! 😂 I googled Leslie Neilsen after seeing a video of him and saw Jon and was so shocked!
Mike was in Airplane!? I had no idea 😊
"Waltuh,, land the plane down Waltuh."
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit methamphetamines"
Waltuh, get the plane on land right now, Waltuh.
and 25 years later BAM he is a household name lol.
That turkey was still stone cold raw 😂
air traffic controller named finger:
So Mike got soooo fed up with the complete absurdities of the Air-traffic control industry that he decided to be a cop... and we all know how that went 🙃
Walter, pull your airplane up Walter. I’m not cleaning this up
I am the one who flies
Seeing Jonathan Banks with hair is one of those surreal obscuritys like Blonde Barney or Four Armed Grimace.
What a humorous scene from a comedy classic. I hope that the controller doesn't get involved in some former high school chemistry teacher's chicanery
I knew it was him because if you look closely you can see a finger
Did you get your plane fixed? You’re gonna wanna get your plane fixed
A microwave seems like a joke about it's magnetron and the relation to radar.
Guys had like a 40,000 Watt Microwave.
That Raw Turkey was gonna be done in about 2 more minutes.
He was also in Undersiege 2: Dark Teritory about train heist
Best known for his role in Wiseguy.
Wow, never knew this.
He never gets a close up shot on his face from the front.
funny enough I watched gremlins for the first time a few days ago and one of the officers in that movie is played by Jonathan banks how funny is that
So thats what he looked like when he took Gordie to the killing field!
Ah so in this timeline Mike is Jane's father
The first time i ever seen this movie i was the highest ive ever been off of acid… peaking watching water pour down actors faces wondering if its the movie or the acid
He was in airplane and gremlins
MIKE WITH HAIR
It's weird to think that there's a clip of him when he was younger, facing almost directly into the camera, called "Johnathon Banks 1976 Barnaby Jones..." which has only around 9000 views while this has almost 150 000.
Don't worry, his Jonathan Banks' Retro '70s Educational Menstruation Film Team Coco film has over 1 million views 🤣
No wonder Janes dad crashed the plane
Jane's dad had in his mind a dialog of the Joker (2019) about the life is a tragedy or a comedy
It's about two more minutes, chief.Yep, we're boned!
That's professor buzz hickey
Just found out from my dad that apparently he was in Airplane and I didn't believe him. Went 17 years not knowing this... Wowzers
Cool, at which part, do you know?
@@stoopidvideoz well, I know Jonathan Banks from Beverly Hills Cop mostly (even though most people say Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul), so I picked it up pretty quickly once I found out. But I'd say likely the part where they are playing Atari 2600 Basketball.
@@Fraccy Cool 😎
Your dad was in Airplane? Surely you can't be serious...
whose here because they only just realised they've seen Jon Banks in more movies than you thought....? Rabbit hole here i come...
He was in Beverly Hills Cop too.
The movie will always be called Flying High...
Don’t eat the fish Waltah
so it's official, breaking bad is officially Flying High canon
And also in one of the best episodes, in my opinion, of Hill Street Blues.
Wow, it's like he's an actor or something!!
"bad choice air road" LMAO
so it was his fault all along
WHAAAAAT THE FUUUCK - checked wikipedia's Breakind Bad characters entries, clicked on the actor playing Mike and... THIS happened. SURELY THIS CAN'T BE SERIOUS - well Walter, no more half measures.
This world is insane !
You are goddamn right! And don't call me Shirley.
@@mellowgeekstudio ROTFL They are on instruments !
Inside the microwave was a turkey, not a chicken. The Audio Descriptive track confirmed this.
Cool.
all the great gags and you dont even notice royalty
Kid named radar.
He was in an episode of Little House On The Prairie.
0:25 i still use a Radarange
Nice! 👍😊
woah
He was one of the cops in Gremlins too!
