They just do what they could do. It works, it generates money and yeah kinda dangerous (very). But rather than do nothing and get nothing. at least their wives and family could eat something. It's not a pleasant workplace, but do they have choice?
It's not much different to 1st world countries in the 50s and many of them survived to old age.. the biggest difference is first world countries in the 50s had leathers but imagine wearing full leathers in the oppressive heat of the tropics plus the heat from the foundry, people would be dying of heat exhaustion

Oh yes. We must start woth good, high quality steel of the purest grade. Just toss in any old bunch of old.cribs, used bicycles, BBQ pits, and rusty car doors, aluminum cans, unused IEDs from next door in Afghanistan, trash pot and pans.

Cast iron is a good material for low speed gears, all that scrap steel can easily be turned back into iron by adding carbon.. those gear will last a very long time

Хотел увидеть способ обработки эвольвенты зуба, но не показали.
Скорее всего - строганием, с предварительным накерниванием(прорисовкой) на торце шестерни по шаблону. На 23:35 внизу кадра шаблон бумажный на шестерне лежит.
Мое предположение оказалось верным - вот th-cam.com/video/X_BJ4I6f2wo/w-d-xo.html в конце видео показан процесс строгания и на 17:09 хорошо видно кернение.
По бумажному шаблону болгарками выпиливают. В конце видно.
Считай на коленке изготовляют сложные детали механизмов. Это восхищает!

@@user-li2fm6qs4n любой заказчик деталей, проверяет страну изготовитель, вполне может быть, деталь от какого-то крупного механизма, и может дорого, заказ которой, в высотехнологичной стране обойдётся в копеечку. Заплатив по паре рупий работягам третьесортной страны, владелецу оборудования, гораздо дешевле менять эту деталь раз в месяц, чем купить оригинальную, сделанную по технологии..

Эта шестерня отлита из смеси неизвестных металлов просто в землю. Она никак не закалена и не упрочнена. У неё наверно ось не в центре. Профиль её зубьев неизвестен. Я уверен, внутри неё пустоты и микротрещины. Кому нужна такая продукция, кто её целевая аудитория?

Having worked in a US foundry as a young man this is just amazing! I did think it was very dangerous but this goes well beyond that.
I came back and watched again! Breaking the gear out of the mold and the guy is trying to keep it from landing on his sandals! I had steel toed boots and even one time had to have the boot cut off when it crashed the metal toe guard down. Guys who poured were in heat resistant suits. Damn!

People have to eat, roof over their head,Family, Etc. You do whatever you need too. Been there myself back in the day.

Состав металла определяется составом металлолома, из которого отлита шестерня. Там видно, что они в печь кидают.
Состав стали? Термообработка? Техника безопасности? О чём вы! Железный век. Они профиль зуба шестерни, похоже, по картонному шаблону режут.
I like perfect quality of this gear creation process. No chemical control of alloy, melted from scrap. Direct gear casting to sand. No forging of stock, no stock machining at all. Visible caverns on inner surfase. Perfect! Melt scrap to crap.
These guys are amazing, what a great work ethic. I would love to watch them work in a modern shop. I do wish that they would wear boots.

It would be interesting to hear the opinion of somebody with expertise in metallurgy. These workers appear to be just melting down random scrap to make these gears. Can you just do that and expect these gears to hold up? I would have thought for work like this, the composition of the metal would have to be very carefully controlled. How robust are these gears likely to be?
Steel can be turned back into iron by adding carbon, high carbon steel is around .45% and iron is around 4.5%.. iron is a good material for low speed gears because of the lubricating properties of carbon

Die Arbeit dieser fleißigen Leute ist richtig gut. Das einzige was sie noch benötigen ist eine entsprechende Schutzausrüstung. Sprich Sicherheitsschuhe, Schutzbrillen und so weiter.
Jetzt mal ein anderes Thema. Ich glaube nicht das das Zahnrad lange halten wird. Denn Stahl ist nicht gleich Stahl. Je nach Einsatzgebiet des Werkstücks ist ein anderer Stahl zu kochen. Ich kann nicht einfach alles in einen Topf werfen und hoffen das es schon gehen wird. Es gibt genaue Mischungstabellen. Und wenn man sich da nicht dran hält kommt minderwertige Qualität raus

I am from the US always say i worked hard my whole life until i started watching work around the world i am embarrassed for those statements now i just say i worked all my life long hours out of respect for these kind of men...wish there was something i could do to make all your lives a bit easier..

They're not working hard lol and i bet they're all there because of the camera and to get paid for their big order of a gear lol. Their culture is very lazy and they're cutting so many corners and doing things without proper experience. It's an accident waiting to happen but they don't care because there's too many of them lol. Irresponsible society caused by British propaganda imo. Nothing to do with race. We're all have potential. Just bad education and leadership. Same thing that created the victim culture and welfare society here in the west.
Apart from the safety isissues. Casting steel is brittle steel. You need to forge a billet first, then cut the gear. But I guess their engineering standards are as good their safety standards.

I'm also wondering about the type of metal used. It looks to be just scrap. I'm no expert but can you just use whatever's at hand and expect these gears to hold up under load? I would have thought the quality of the steel would require more thought than just melt down random stuff.
Cast steel isn't brittle, cast iron is.. scrap steel can be turned back into iron by adding carbon to get to around 4.5% carbon.. for low speed gears, iron is a good material because of the lubricating properties of carbon
@@bukster1 It does, they are mixing some random steel materials and making a gear, without any purification. Ridiculous. 😂 Those gears will not hold for long in whatever they are used.
You people are acting like they have high quality equipment at their disposal. Get off your high horses and atleast acknowledge that these people are out there putting in the work that the majority of people would not even take the time of day to do. Is it the best way to be making these big gears and the material they are using the best for this big part? No more than likely not. But it's the best they got and judging on how they are transporting it. None of those parts are going anywhere near something you may be using so I wouldn't worry about it. Awesome work guys!

Good..... but the safety protection is very minimal, especially when pouring molten metal... just imagine if there was a splash of hot metal liquid on the workers.
