- The latest in a line of successful Acura endurance racing prototypes, the ARX-06 features Acura-specific bodywork and aerodynamics based around an all-new ORECA LMDh chassis which utilizes an electrified hybrid power unit featuring an equally new, bespoke twin-turbocharged 2.4 liter V6 internal combustion engine designed, developed and manufactured by Honda Performance Development [HPD] the racing arm for Acura Motorsports in North America.
In preparation for the 2023 IMSA season, Acura and HPD work on the prototype race car ahead of its premiere at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Now HPD, let's get to the point.
Can you PLEASE convince Honda to let the ARX-06 race in the WEC? Because it is clearly capable of victory.

One of the most unique designs on the grid that really pushes boundaries. And y'all got pole position at Rolex first time out! Hell'uva job HPD! The ARX-06 is going to win a lot of races!

This is like the same car as the dpi from last year
@@bastienhubert283 underneath its quite different. The motor is a lot more radical: it has Indycar and F1 technology in it while the previous DPI was based on a J series road car motor

The 2022 finale coverage was perfect. No overblown voiceover, just the right shots to convey the intensity.
I think one of the reasons I support this team is how much power they produce from such a small engine and how high it revs just like F1
This is one of thee greatest car documentaries I have ever witnessed, that petite Le Mans ending, I felt that. Just amazing work from everyone involved. Glad to be Honda/Acura fanboy, kick ass in the new season y’all! 🏁🏎️🏁

As a career automotive designer who also raced, designed and built racecars (SCCA Sports racers) its great to see some fellow designers having a very strong hand in the shaping of this serious race car.

What a beautiful documentary. I've been following this team since Steve and Diane Horne decide to bring LCI and took a gamble on Andre Rebiero and we won at Loudon in '95. Go HPD! I always throw you a salute when coming down the Grapevine!
This was totally awesome!!!!!! They took every Acura/Honda race car. With the late Ayrton Senna's spirit guiding the design of the car. An influence of the Batmobile, Supercar Gattiger The first generation and second generation NSX. Racer X and Speed Racer. All rolled into one. I wish Gulf Oil was still in the United States. It would be awesome to have seen her in. The Gulf racing blue. With Gulf-Acura on her bonnet. A fond tribute to the Late John Weyer.

Love how the new engine kind of purrs on decel like the F1 engine. Can I get a road-going car that sounds like that? 🤤
They say their all about RACING!, yet all but the S2000, a few older civics and NSX production cars are front wheel drive and mostly BORING automatics! I want to see a Honda/Acura production car with the same level of excitement as the LMDH, or at least 1/4 of that excitement. The newest NSX was WAY over electronified.........it practically drives itself. Much unlike a Lotus Exiege, a real drivers machine. OH!... and half the price, 10 times the FUN! Honda had some good stuff in the 90’s. SOOoo Much potential 🧐

I wonder if this car can compete in 24h le mans in de la sarthe. Looks cool.
Theoretically the LMDh (GTP) are allowed to partizipate in Le Mans 24h, if they do depends on the teams. BMW for example announced for 2024 Le Mans 24h with their LMDh. It was the whole purpose of creating the LMH/LMDh classes so that both can run in both race series (IMSA/WEC) and therefore both in 24h Le Mans and 24h Daytona.

I was really disappointed you discouraged them from fighting at the end of the 24 this year. Good thing I'm a Red Bull fan so ignoring cognitive dissonance about team orders is kind of my thing. Let's go Acura!
You know what, I would love IMSA behind the scene documentary. Somebody should pitch this to Amazon and make a drive to survive contender series. Also, brilliant move to use the proven Indy car engine. A LOT of people from my automotive group laugh out loud at Acura small block V6 turbo engine, with mostly championing Cadillac NA V8 or Porsche's NA-like turbo setup... But well, the ARX-06 looks like a proper contender to start with, so jokes on them.

IF THEY LOWER THE WEIGHT & INCREASE THE POWER THESE GTP CAN BE FAST AS F1
With mandated L/D, power and torque curve it's not a rocket science to build a car out of Oreca. As one tech director said, they needed only three engineers to construct chassis nowadays. All other stuff goes to PR management. All in all it has nothing with true GTP and uses the great name just for commercial reasons.

the car (HPD ARX-04b) wasn't a success at all. only had 1 race (2015 Daytona 24 Hours), both of cars retired and that's it.
