Dana Point Harbor Fishing | Float Tube Fishing

- Today we took our float tubes down to Dana Point to fish some new waters which definitely paid off in the end.
We went down to Dana Point harbor with our friends and caught a decent amount of little calico bass, sand bass, and spotted bay bass. We also got Sebastian his first White Sea Bass which was a pretty good size for the harbor. Then we went over to the bait barge to fish for barracudas but all we could catch were mackerel.
At the end of the day we took some dead anchovies near the barge and fished around the docks with them.
Gear Used-
Rods: Casting- Shimano Clarus and Dobyns Fury
Spinning- Abu Garcia Hellbender
Reels: Casting- Shimano Citica and Curado 200e's
Lures: Hookup Baits, Spro Jigs, A-rigs
Float Tubes: Caddis Nevada Float Tubes
Conditions-
Tide: Incoming(low to high)
Visibility: 5-8 ft.
Water Temp: 65-67 F

I saw your buddy out there yesterday while I was fishing on my sup. I couldn't catch any spotties tho. 2 white sea bass and some barracuda. What size hookup bait was that?

nice video guys. I use to float tube for trout and want to get into some bay float tubing.
What rod length and weight rated rod would you recomend. i am looking to use 2 rods.
for baitcasting, i like around a 7', 8-17 lb rod (or similar) with a fast tip, and with a 200 size reel and 20 lb braid. for spinning i'd do the same length but a slightly lighter rod
awesome. i have a 7'8 medium spinning rod that i was using for surf perch. do you think its to long to land fish on a tube?
its a bit longer than i like but it'll definitely work
Mackerel are so annoying, I cant even get my bait down past 1 foot before they take it, they eat bare hooks too
yea they're the dumbest and most aggressive fish in the ocean

does dana point only allow catch and release or is that just what yall do
just check the california regulations... but we like to release most fish, especially bass because they're not a very sustainable fish.

you could if they're legal size but i probably wouldn't recommend it

kinda just depends on the water temp, usually just boardshorts in july and august though
