  • Joe spends the day at one of the largest shows displaying vintage farm equipment in America - the Half Century of Progress Show in Rantoul, Il. This massive event is held on the site of the former Chanote AFB.
If you like our videos please 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹. AND...if you like our videos you may really like our magazine. 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗲 at www.mischka.co... or call us: 877-647-2452.
We start with a parade of vintage tractors.
Joe then visits with a number of exhibitors who show off their vintage tractors, equipment and implements in both static and dynamic displays. You will see:
    Square baler
"The Big Four" by Gas Traction Co in 1910. This plow was used to break prairie land- a large steam powered plow - it could pull 14 plow bottoms while breaking stubble and 8 bottoms while breaking sod. It is one of only 23 in the world.
A collection of International Farmall Cub tractors from the 1940-50s with a large collection of implement that could be put to this diverse plow.
A dynamic display of a belt driven conveyor and lift that takes corn from the corn wagon up and over into a corn crib.
A suite of machines (by Duncan Meader) used to make commemorative medallion/keyrings of the event. We see brass sheets pressed, imprinted and punched.
A corn sheller used to shell corn directly in the fields to wagons to go to market.
Joe interviews Paul Behrends of Paul's Windmill and Crane about his business restoring, repairing, installing fully functional windmills to various clients. Mostly those pumping water or aerating ponds.
We finish with a look a some more static antique farm equipment and a final shot of more of the antique tractor parade.
This event is held every year in late August. Visit their website for the most up to date information. www.halfcentury...

This was an unexpected video. Used to seeing horsepower on here. You folks did a good job showing off Rantoul. I enjoyed the fact that you let the tractors & equipment talk as well as the good people that own them. Didn't flood the sound out with music & I really appreciate that. Regards!

My late husband would have loved this show. He bought a 1949 John Deere tractor for $500, in 1974 from a young high school boy that bought rusty tractors and restored them. Finally in the early 2000's he could no longer get the part needed to repair it. A man we went to church with, bother lived in Michigan and had the same problem. He offered to sell his to Bob for $600 for parts. One tractor could be used for repair parts for the other. Bob sold him our John Deere for that price. He used that tractor all those years and sold it for $100 more than he paid for it. I cried as they pulled out our lane with John Deere headed to Michigan from SW Ohio.
I now own a John Deere Lawn Mower, named Johnny D. I'm 79 and love mowing 2 acres of my property around the house and barn.
