I confess that in more than 30 years in the field of mechanics and auto parts, I had never seen a steering gear break like this, normally there is wear and tear on gears, bearings and bushings.
Considering the potential risk to absolutely everyone who ever comes with in 100 yards of this vehicle on the road, I would say going the cheap route and saving the 400 or 500 Rupee (Less than 2 dollars) over buying a new Gear. The owner of this vehicle and the shop that performed the work are complete Morons. Stupidity at this level should be criminal... Oh wait it is Criminal in most developed countries.
This steering box appears to be from a heavy vehicle, ie semi tractor. It probably was broken during a wreck so normal loading would never break it. The logic here is probably that it would never stress the repair during normal driving. However….. stress on the DRIVER or passenger or anyone knowing of this repair would be enough to avoid this vehicle forever.
The weld may be satisfactory for the amount of torque and vehicle used. Or at least last until a new part is available. Aircraft parts that have weld repair are ultrasound/x-rayed.
How can it ever be "better than new"? Look closely at the welding. There is very little "penetration", the root weld is hollow with lots of slag left behind and the actual welding technique leaves a lot to be desired. There is no way that this will even be anything near as strong as when it was first made.
@@jesus2391 All of my "Welding Jobs" are 100% x ray inspected or where that is not possible then NDI inspected after each and every "run". But there again I am a proper welder with 40+ years experience on welding high pressure systems
What on earth was supposed to have happened to that steering box rocker shaft to cause it to break the way it did. Surely the splines would have been chewed off first.
These guys do these repairs because a new part is probably not available and a new vehicle is more than can be afforded. It looks like a lot of the stuff they have is very second hand.
Unexpected random loss of steering at some random point in the future right there, You never repair parts like that, they can not be trusted to be safe.
Why? The welding rod should match the material to be welded and these people invariably use the very cheap PaK Bridge (6013 type) welding rods which are not optimised for welding cast steel.
Have you ever done any structural steel fabrication? Would you trust your life on this not breaking again? I think the answer to both questions is a resounding NO.
I commend you guys for a nice clean orderly shop!
Lesson learned from this video. You have two scrap pieces. You can weld them and create a bigger scrap piece.
Ha ha love it anyway its not important its only steering its not like it might kill someone
A clean shop? Bravoooo.
Pakistani men very creative n innovative in repairing and rebuild vehicle parts..

Parabéns pelo seu conhecimento meu amigo
Excelente trabajo los felicito 👍 👏 😉
The good thing is you know exactly where it’s going to break. Again.
(I watch things like this for one purpose: to see what not to do!)
Cut a pilot hole first on the flat first and you won't have to hold your drill bit and tighten your drill bit

will not last long since the original broke under preddure made one piece , how long will this welded one last ??
Hard to say, maybe it was welded before....

Just because it looks pretty at the end doesn't mean its reliable, durable part
Super jest to wykonane pozdrawiam serdecznie 👍👍👍👍
jaja se robisz?
I knew it was going bad when I saw him clamp that ceiling area in the vice
It's called a vise, dufus.
@@Jeff82556 Depends where you’re from! “Vice” in UK. You missed “ceiling” 🤣
It will work, giving time to order a new part.
Good work 👍

When I always see that the turning tool is not aligned in the middle!!🤨😵💫
Probably welded 10 times already....😂
Giỏi quá a thợ tiện
RIP truck driver
Nonsense repairs! They do all these "repairs" for the purpose of making youtube videos. You will never see these parts ever work again.
which may well be better - for everyone involved
I wouldn't let these guys work on my enemies vehicle
This is a safety part....such repair is not allowed....high risk of failure during work causing fatal victims
I'm proud of you all..
Ở xứ sở này, phụ tùng thay mới là cái gì đó vô cùng xa xỉ và không có trong tự điển của họ.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I hope they don’t work on airplanes !
Did you know that 75% of pilots in india dont have pilots licences so it wont matter if they did a bad repair just blame it on the pilot when it fails
I'll bet when that broke, it scared the shit out of the driver.
Nice 👍👍
Your root weldig is scrap metal.

Thẳng tuyệt đối không ?
1/2 the strength of the one that broke. The welding did not go %100 deep
How could you grip the sector thread on a vise you ruined those threads, and don’t you people have Crazy Glue at your Local 7-11?
It’s cheaper to use crazy glue
Totalmente de acuerdo. Saludos desde Uruguay.

Pouco penetração de solda, a qualidade deixou a desejar.
Nice 👍
Nonsense 😂😂😂
Das wär in Deutschland unmöglich
Stimmt. Nie gesehen im deutschen Stuff.
come on you downers didnt it say its better than new?
Poor repair decision. The repair weaker than the original hitch broke. Threader inserts would be better in my opinion.😊
Only you can do jobs the rest of us is not good….
These parts do not last. I a country of no money you do what you have to even if it kills a bus load of people.
disaster
