- Here is my tumbler accent tag. I felt very stupid doing this but it was nice the get out if my comfort zone.
I am for the Freestate, a town called Sasolburg.
I currently live and work in the UK and people often tells me I have a strong accent - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
This is H-a-r-d-c-o-r-e South African accent. I loved it.

Very Dutch way of pronouncing. Saying this as a Dutch woman.
I know a married couple that live in Texas, the woman is an Afrikaner from Northern Cape and the man is from a rural part of Central Texas, and their child has an accent which sounds slightly like this. It is less prominent, due to American influence being from Texas, and it is more slower and drawn out like a Texas accent. I thought it actually sounds really nice.
The funny thing is the kid uses Afrikaans words and Texas slang. He's just a little guy, about 7, and its the cutest thing seeing him say something like "I'm fixin' to have corn bread, It's so lekker" ("lekker" meaning "tasty" in Afrikaans as I am told). I think its on account of the fact his mother is stay-at-home and also they have a rural farm (cattle ranch) away from people. Half the people working there are Afrikaans speaking relatives (the woman and her mother, and her two brothers families, moved to America in the 2001 after a farm attack in early 2000 killed her father) so the kid most often interacts with Afrikaans speaking relatives and Texans. I was told that his cousins also have hybrid Afrikaans-Texan accents.
Lekker is like a general term that means you're really enjoying whatever you're labelling as "lekker". I can understand why they said it means tasty in that context, but really, anything can be lekkerrrr. If food is lekker, it was nice and tasty. If you had a lekker day, you had lots of fun. If a guy says that woman looks lekker, then he really wants to shag her. If you ask someone what they did today and they say, oh I just went to the movies and had some lunch with friends and then you respond with: oh lekker... Then it's like saying: Oooh, that sounds nice. If you say: Gheez, I was lekker busy today, then it means you were VERY extremely busy today.
Lekker is just a lekker word to use for EVERYTHING haha.

@@joachimcilliers Late to the party, but shit that's a good explanation! I live in New Zealand and I've always struggled to explain it to non-Afrikaans speakers. Now I have a go-to explanation, hahaha. Although, in saying that, te reo Māori (the Māori language) pronounces the letter R the same way. So Māori people get it!
The rolled r is similar to a soft d.
The d in an American body is the sound of a singular r roll.

I lost my Afrikaans English accent. Although, my stepmother says that it comes out sometimes when I speak to my dad. But unconsciously 😂 I come back to listen to it sometimes because it is unique!

Leo didn't speak Afrikaans English he spoke with a Rhodesian English accent, Rhodesia was an English speaking country not afrikaans

Kruger's accent is very much a white English-speaking accent from a very specific part of Johannesburg, Andrei. Incredibly niche. I know that accent exists in the real world too, because I had a teacher at school who sounded just like Kruger. He was also terrifying, haha.
sharlto copley does an overexaggerated afrikaans accent in his movies, especially district 9. Thats probably the strongest an afrikaans accent can get. Sharlto is actually english with english accent but knows the afrikaans accent since he is from johannesburg.
