Oh what a great reaction. That was a song he wrote for his wife Annie, at the time, after they had an argument from what I understand. He was so talented and died so young and tragically. RIP.
I got to meet John after his concert in Cerritos, California, on my 47th birthday, 5 months before his passing. His music changed my life.....I live in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho, living the life his songs expressed to me. I miss him, his positivity and his music.....Rest in Peace John.
What a lovely song that speaks of his love for his wife. Wished their marriage had lasted for them. He was a wonderful singer and song writer. RIP John🌹
John Denver was an inspiration in many ways. I think I owned every album he put out. He was a great writer of songs reflecting the ecology movement in the 70's. He wore his heart on sleeve when it came to his love for people & nature. Wonderful wonderful reaction HAP! 🥰🔥😬
There are love songs written stratigically for the masses so they can recognize their own stories in emotional lyrics. And then there are just pure love songs written from the heart and personal experience. I guess the artist even doesn't care how the song will resonate or be successful. There's just emotion that needed to be expressed through music. This song is such song - honest, deep and simple. And that's why we cannot be even a little cynical while listening despite our own bad love experience. You can't hear this and shake your head: "Man, don't be so mushy". You just can't. Because pure emotion always finds a way to people's hearts. And, yes, his voice was definitely something special!
Such a beautiful song! JOHN Wrote this for his then wife "Annie" after a separation. Unfortunately their marriage didn't last (the song didn't work). A truly talented man with a one of a kind voice. John, your music is missed R.I.P. loved your soulful reaction to this lovely piece of musical art, Hap! 💜🎵 wonderful choice Jill!! 🥰
It has nothing to do with the musical Annie. It's his wife Annie telling her how she fills him spiritually and physically like nature. Come love me again is about making love again the filling of his senses while making love.. It is profound and eternal... pure poetry in music. The words are deeper than the melody.
To me, this is one of t he most beautiful love songs 🎵 💕 ever written/performed. Pure magic!! ❤ John wrote this for his first wife Annie a.d is only one of many wonderful songs in his catalogue. I hope you delve into some of his other works. Many are about nature and conservation, which were very important to him. Very interesting man, gone way too soon, from an experimental plane crash onto the ocean in Monterey, when he was only 53. Hap, I loved your guess, that this had to do with the musical Annie. You did a great turn in finding the actual story, whew!! 👌💥
I saw him in concert in Kansas City in 81. The band left the stage to take a break, but John continued to sing playing his guitar. Calypso is fabulous. Annie was his wife. Great reaction.
An amazing singer, songwriter and musician. Lots of hits in the 1970's and 1980’s. My favourite is Calypso, but I was a Jacques Cousteau fan, developing a love for the sea that has never left me.
He wrote this song for his wife, Annie. They eventually divorced. I still adore the song. I was a kid when he found fame, and my parents took me to his concerts every year at Madison Square Garden. He was a brilliant and energetic performance. He would let the band take a break but he would keep performing. Check out 'Rocky Mountain High' and for fun 'Thank God I'm a Country Boy'. Love your reactions.
Aww, my goodness, what a beauty. I know this wonderful song, but never paid really so much attention to it. As soon as it started I found myself humming along to this soothing melody. He can definitely paint the picture with this lyrics, so pure and honest. And this voice in combination with those instruments are equally pur and magical ✨✨✨. Lucky Annie💕. Love to see how you get excited about this „old“ but timeless song HAP🥰. Beautiful choice Jill✨🙋🏻♀️.
John Denver is a fantastic singer and song writer. He has loads of great songs and sounds just as good live as he does on the studio versions. John is more a folk singer than a country singer. He wrote this song in 10 minutes on a ski lift after an argument with his wife, Annie. Another great love song from him is 'For You' from his wildlife concert. It is stupendous and you should listen to it. He died far too young. R.I.P. John.
This song took me back. This was my late mum's "party piece" and she always sang it at family parties so it brought back so many memories. Thank you, Hap! 💕
It's a beautiful song and live his voice is just gorgeous, I agree.Such a tragedy that he died so young at 53. Great singer-songwriter. Some others of his that are really good: Calypso (more upbeat), and Take Me Home Country Roads (beautiful and more of a ballad). You should see photos of him when he first started out. He looked so young, like he was about 12 or so lol. Love your authentic reactions.
John Denver is my most favorite artist of all time! I listened to the Wildlife Concert every single day of high school and John is the gospel to my life! You mentioned sometimes songs and love comes from a place of pain. The story behind the song goes is that John and his 1st wife, Annie, had an argument and John goes out skiing. On the way up in the lift, he gets this inspiration and writes the song in about 10 minutes and performs it when he got home. Song went #1 for 2 weeks, the album it's on went #1 and won Album of the Year and another song from that album went #1 also! The album and song is called "Back Home Again!" Plus, the band in that concert was top tier! Pete Huttlinger (Mandolin in song) was a fingerpicking champ, did Crossroads Festival on 3 separate occasions, and played with Clapton, James Burton was Elvis' guitar player until Elvis' death, Jim Horn (woodwind) played with everyone and well respected! Other songs that John wrote that I love: "Shanghai Breezes" (particularly from this concert), "Rocky Mountain High," "This Old Guitar," and was one of the co-writers of "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and many other songs! Just love this version of the song!
My favorite song of his was This Old Guitar. He mentions Annie in that song aa well. John Denver was one of the greatest songwriters ever as well as an excellent guitarist besides having that tremendous voice.
I've benn a John Denver fan for over 50 years. His voice is so clear, pure and full of emotion, so soothing. Annie was his first wife, after returning from a tour they had a fight about him being gone so much. He went out skiing and wrote this song in ten minutes on a ski lift. If you want to hear the most beautiful love song I have ever heard try "For You", also from the Wildlife Concert. Other favorites are "Poems, Prayers and Promises", "Sunshine on My Shoulders", "Healing Time on Earth", "It' About Time", "The Eagle and the Hawk" are just a few. RIP, John, thank you for all the beautiful music you left with us. I'm so sorry for all the music he didn't live long enough to write.
That was absolutely beautiful ❤ When I saw John Denver, all I could think of was "Take me home Country Roads," his song, right? What a great song choice Jill ❤. I'll be listening again. Loved it. Thank you Hap for this awesome reaction ✌️ ☮️ 🎶 I've said it before, favorite channel, you just never know what's next.
John wrote over 200 songs, recorded over 300. As people have said this was writtdn for his first wife Annie, wrote it in 10 minutes. They did eventually divorce but remained friends until his death. Annie never re-married. He wrote For You for his 2nd wife ( no love lost in that divorce), beautiful song. He was a singer songwriter, conservationist, philanthropist, visionary. A very special and unique human. He gave the Royalties to 3 songs away, Rhymes & Reasons to Unicef, I Want To Live to The Hunger Foundation and Calypso to the Coustea Society. If you want to delve deeper I'd recommend start with those 4 songs as well as What Are We Making Weapons For and Ravens Child, his 'protest' songs.
Annie's song is a tribute to his wife. This one makes me cry because I remember singing this with my sister as we washed dishes together.. lol.. we were little girls and our parents loved that even when we were little we had great harmony.. Sibling thing, . We lost her in 2015, my only sibling... Life has never been the same without my sister.
I saw him live at least twice, and, yes, unbelievable! And he made you feel like he was singing just to you. Deep dive here! Very diverse catalog, an not a bad one! For You from the same concert is so beautiful! Try Rocky Mountain High, Calypso which is a tribute to Jaques Cousteau and his ocean research vessel by the same name. Also, a duet with Placid Domingo called Perhaps Love. Too many to list.
Check out John's hit song "Calypso," a tribute to French oceanographer and environmentalist Jacques Cousteau and the crew of their research ship called Calypso. There are terrific live performances of John at a concert in Japan in 1981 and at this same Wildlife Concert benefit TV special in New York City in 1995 where he sang "Annie's Song."
He was a big musical star and movie star for "Oh GOD". The TV News media made fun of his death, he was in one of those single planes. Didn't check the gas level and ran out of gas, and crashed into the ocean.
Awesome! Another beautiful gem! I vehemently agree, John's music is truly timeless! I love how his lyrics are so deep, poetic and provide deep symbolism/metaphors and connections with nature. Other songs such as “for you”, “perhaps love” (a duet with opera legend Placido Domingo), and “rhymes and reasons” are highly recommended.
Thanks - glad you got this live version... the voice, the 12-string - just perfection! (and beautiful backing.. hear "Taffy" sing on other songs from this concert - "Take me home country roads...") - th-cam.com/video/IUmnTfsY3hI/w-d-xo.html appreciate your reaction...

I don't think he ever fell out of love with Annie.. and I believe that she loved him as well.
Alcohol and busy schedule away from home takes a toll...
John Denver simply the best
@@teresanewman4656 good evening 4656

I saw him in person, he is absolutely awesome. ANYTHING by John is poetry and sang with such soul.❤️. Gone too soon
I did too, twice in San Diego.. My sister and I loved every minute.
I saw him in Maryland. It was amazing. Didn't want the concert to end.
I saw 👀 him In Louisville KY. We weren’t allowed to get up while he was singing 🔥

💯. This song always makes me think of my husband, who's birthday would have been this month💕
In my own opinion, that is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Jill I agree with you. This is a beautiful pure of heart love song. 🥰
I saw him in concert in Kansas City in 81. The band left the stage to take a break, but John continued to sing playing his guitar. Calypso is fabulous. Annie was his wife. Great reaction.

It’s one heck of a tribute songs
Calypso is the best... Jacques Cousteau very great explorer and conservationist>>>>not Environmentalist.
I was a Cousteau fan myself ❤️
His voice is so pure and beautiful. I was devastated when he died. We lost a treasure. Makes me always cry still.
John was a very important American naturalist. He has many great songs/albums and I hope you look into his music. RIP dear John, we miss you.
I went to a John Denver concert in the 70's. It was a wonderful concert.
Sweet Surrender, Calypso, and The Eagle and the Hawk are my favorites. But so many of his songs are gorgeous. What an amazing voice he had!

This was played at many a wedding in the 80s. ❤❤❤ beautiful song and great reaction as always 🎉

Lucky enough to see him in concert. It was incredible
Musicianship and talent......that's how it is done live. Not autotune or pre-recorded loops or technical trickery....... musicianship and talent
He was awesome live I've seen him a couple occasions he was nothing but class great bands
I saw him in concert when I was 13 back in 81

Hey Hap. It's been awhile. Be safe.
He wrote this to tell his wife how he felt about her.
May I suggest John Denver “Sunshine on my shoulders”, saw him in person couple times and you’ll never have a more soothing experience
His lyrics are really good poetry
He wrote all his songs from his experiences
Love song to his wife annie.
There is a movie about his life it's wonderful
May I also suggest Bob Dylan “things have changed”
I miss him.
Listen to John Denver sing I, Calypso, his tribute to Jacque Cousteau
I saw him live in 1976. He loved to perform. Sadly, gone to soon.
Beautiful and so tranquil...You should also listen to Cello by Parrish and Toppano.thanks....
Thanks - glad you got this live version... the voice, the 12-string - just perfection! (and beautiful backing.. hear "Taffy" sing on other songs from this concert - "Take me home country roads...") - th-cam.com/video/IUmnTfsY3hI/w-d-xo.html appreciate your reaction...
no this song was wrote in honor of his wife at the time in about 10 minutes while he was on a ski lift
Have a suggestion for your reaction Miley Cyrus “Flowers”
No has nothing to do with the Movie Annie John Denver RIP
un-abashed love songs rule. try "shameless" by garth brooks- "miracles", jefferson starship- "woman", from john lennon for others.
Call Me by Shinedown beautiful song ❤
Annie was his wife
Song is not connected, to the movie or play, Annie.
American treasure lost to soon. Calipso
John wrote it for his wife. It has nothing to do about any movie
He died in a plane crash off of the coast of California. FYI. Such a shame. Never pilot a plane alone.
This has nothing to do with the movie this was to his wife
