Oil change in a 1982 230E
A video showing everything involved in changing the engine oil and filter on a Mercedes 230e, for oil grades you are best to consult the owners manual, as my climate is warm, and the oil I used may be different to the oil you need.
Why did I choose Mercedes genuine parts? The vehicle came from an elderly gentleman's care and he used Mercedes parts/service almost exclusively.
For the price I probably wont keep that up, especially when considering the fact that the Mercedes filter is made by Mann... which can probably be obtained for 1/4 of the price.

Discovery 4 3.0 Alternator diagnosis and replacement
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
I had a charging fault come up on my 2010 D4 with the 3.0 V6. Watch as I diagnose the charge fault, check the alternator for charge, check the earths and test the main positive battery cable for voltage drop. And then finally replace the alternator. Replacement alternator from the UK.
Safe, Easy, Off-Grid Camping Shower!

Today being demonstrated is the use and construction of a small portable hot water heater for showers or cleaning, even for laundry. It's made of readily available materials and is super easy to construct. works with any 12V water pump or shower. To get started Google the following: 15X550mm galvanise pipe, 15mm male to female elbow, 15mm female to female elbow, 15C x 15C compression union. (Fo...
Discovery 2 - Auto or Manual? 33" or 31"?

Discovery 2 TD5 with a manual trans on 33" tyres Compared to a Discovery 2A V8 with an auto trans on 31" Which vehicle do you think performs better Both vehicles run Traction Control.
Discovery 2 Off road 4WD

A V8 and a TD5 discovery 2 In the state forest. It was very rainy and slippery so we got to test out the traction control plenty. Both vehicles have 2" lifts but no other suspension work The silver discovery has ACE which means the sway bars effectively disconnect when in low range, and a diff lock which is used sometimes.
Tyre pressures way to high mate. I'd start at 18 psi. There's no flex in your tyres
Thanks mate , I thought so too watching it back. I think I only went 20 maybe 25 so I could drive to the nearest servo for air.
Great video, thanks for making it. How on earth did you get the 13mm nut back onto the starter? I'm using extensions from the front but can't seem to get the angle right. Any tips? Cheers.
Relax people, why take it so serious, some guys here felted offended. Why??? Me personally I enjoy this kind of comparison between a older car vs a newer one. In my opinion Duster is a budget 4x4, you can do many things with it. If you buy a Duster and pay money for Duster, don’t aspect to receive a Land cruiser. If don’t do extreme offroad, will not replace parts too often. I Have land rover freelander and I can say is a problematic car known to be a finacial hole. Unfortunately brakes one daily use in the city. Is just scary to think at costs using it in off road. So for me better means, how much pay and what receive for that money!!!! I will never buy again a british bullshit car eveeeer, they just don’t know to build cars to last.
Thanks for the video, but in my opinion you should have waited a little longer to let all the oil drain. Thanks!!😊
😮 1:38
Did the charging fault go off afterwards? Or did you have to have it ypdated?
Hey mate where did you get the spare parts from we have 1984 230e wanting to buy oil filter and ri gs
That valve on the front right of your engine behind the small panel is your switch over valve. Switches between primary and secondary turbo. Has an actuator on it that can stick and cause hesitancy in letting the secondary turbo come in
The Engine not Run Good ... Many Noises and Shake
Great work now it’s time I did mine wish me all the best
Great video and great tips for getting it out. Now my turn.
Hello I am curious does your air conditioning works?

ill have a crack, will it do it automatically?
My Disco 1: 5.0 Rover V8, auto, lsd front and rear. 255/100 r16s aired down to 12psi. 4.75:1 axle ratios. It does work.
What has he done? Nothing! He was simply having fun! What a beautiful footage! Thanks for sharing it!
Haha! 😅 Just a bit of banter! "What have you done"
@@dustydisco2906 I didn't really think that you scold him 😃.
Why not use a similar sized metal drum that you suspend over a fire. Then take it to you shower awning to use your pump? 👍🏻🙏🦘
Good idea, especially if you cant get 12v to your fire. I don't use a metal bucket as I would need a way to support it, and it will get sooty, stink, and be messier than this contraption which I just stick in an old chair bag. And the bucket has other uses too. I haven't tested it, but I reckon this is quicker too! There's a lot of surface area, the heater itself is deep in the coals, and the temperature differential is massive.
@@dustydisco2906 I use a steel tripod to suspend an old aluminium bread bin. I just put both in bags afterwards. The container is handy to put out the fire before leaving.
What a beautiful car and owned by a deserving owner who obviously takes care of her. I had two 230"s my self once and now have a 2005 E200 Kompresser in mint condition 😊😊
The old mercs are great but the new stuff is nice too :D Thanks mate, she is so dirty in the video due to dry, dusty and windy conditions. I'm going to make another video doing brakes, wheel bearings, water pump etc in the near future. Cheers.
@@dustydisco2906 I was always getting complements on my 230,s but sadly none on my pristine E200
Why change oil after 2000 km ???
It was filthy, and due by time, last done Jan/feb
Oil goes off even if the car is not being used 😉
@@gary1705 yea, clever ass. After 6 months is off...
Just brought my 2003 DISCO 2 at home thise evening! I'm so very proud for having such an incredible car! The one I bought is not perfect bit I'm sure I'm gonna fix every issue it has!
Cool Video! You should use gloves when working with oil. Old motor oil always contains substances that are not good for you and can cause severe allergies over time.
Hi mate you are right but I can’t stand gloves!
😂😂😂😂
Good work mate - my turn now, you made it look easy 🤣👍👍
Hope the vid helps! half the battle is finding it and figuring out the best way to get at it!
Love the video! Have a 2000 disco auto with 37s and portal axles! Amazing vehicles!
Thank you, and that sounds wild, I'll have to check it out!
British cars but definitely not filmed in England... ha ha
@4:25. When the front right wheel is in the air how do you get it to not spin when relying on traction control? Usually spends much faster before kicking in. Are you left foot braking even with traction control? Watch that part of the video. I'm curious because if mine goes in the air like that it will spend much more and then TC
nice, bout to possibly be looking at this myself. How long did it roughly take to pull out (just to check at least) and refit?
Less than an hour I'd say, wheel off, liner out, valve out, belt off, loosen the battery cable off the starter, three bolts, take off the battery cable and the exciter wire from the alt and she's away.
You Kents have all got it completely wrong! There is no 4x4 better than a rusty 200tdi Discovery running no lift, cut guards, dirty chip oil in the fuel tank and a set of secondhand Lee King tyres you bought for $2.50. No traction control needed, it's got smacktion control.
Hi guys! Which front bumper is mounted on the blue disco? 😉
disco getting aroused at 6:57 lmaooo
Put some lockers on those discos. TC it’s ok but can’t compare with a full locker.
i want one of these beast machines so bad - unreal video!
Hope you're good with the spanners.
Brilliant - just what I need! Thanks heaps :)
Happy to help! did your alternator fail?
ETC Should have kicked on front wheel of V8 Disco ???????????
It does, most of the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mpre vids plse brother up the Aussie Disco fam P.S im in brizzy
What rim offset is the discovery with 31s running?? Are they +6 or +25
I hate when CeCe makes you want to flip. The area I live all the trails are super dry and Rocky with really steep sections bumpy like 35 degree angles so any slip with TC suddenly kicking makes you want to flip backwards. I need a rear Locker so bad. I get the old Landrover guys on Facebook that only drive into UK telling me I just don't know how to drive it properly or pick the right line and I'm like dude you don't know what the trails are here in Southern Arizona some of the hardest Jeep trails. Traction control just makes you want to flip oftentimes. Unless you have a brand new Rover where the TC Works immediately. I want to experiment with some left-foot braking even though I have traction control just ride the brake and the throttle pretend like I don't have it see what happens haha I don't mind getting the wheel in they are but some of it is way inappropriate and dangerous
If you're Auto, definitely. At the very least keep your foot there for when it does kick and use the brake to control it. would you rather too much traction from TC trying to kick you or none because you have two wheels spinning :D
Great vid mate 👍
Hi, no rubbing at all with 33" on only a 2" lift ? Always thought that 32" (235/85r16) was the maximum. Thanks.
Nice camping shower
The thing with Traction Control most people don't get is that it requires consistent throttle when the wheel is starting to spin to engage it particularly older systems. Everyone (D3 onwards) used to go off the power right when it was starting to do it's thing. Just got to learn the way each system performs to get the best out of them. It's amazing how slow you can tackle things with it.
Yes it certainly performs well when it's all working well and driven well.
what exhaust setup is the td5 running?
fact is that this car is missing rear and front diff lock. Strange is that it does not have it. Some time ago we compared G wagon and defender. They have both managed through path but G wagon with much less effort
Locca
As a D2 owner, trying to make three amigo not poping up is the main challenge, hahaha, otherwise they are very very capable vehicle even stock without 2 inch lift
No tienen bloqueo de diferencial? no diff lock?
Navy Blue Disco seems to be 235x85xr16 , not 255. Yokohama Geo G003 MT .tire pressure little bit high for the rocks.because the tire surface areas are a bit narrow. We await comparisons in the mud.
Cameraman deserves a beer or three - excellent filming and running around after the cars!
Great shot mate 👍 what did you do to prevent the 33" tires from rubbing with just 2" lift?
On the silver one I had factory 18" Westminster rims (in our first video) with 275/70R18 and I had to cut the bull bar and the plastic rocker/sill trims on the front but still get the occasional rubbing. on the rear, it rubs on the back of the actual Quarter panel. It would need cutting eventually. I removed all of the exterior plastic on the panels too. As for the blue one, they're a narrow tyre so they don't rub too much but a little bit had to be cut with a grinder too!
@@dustydisco2906 It's clear now 👍 I too experienced this observation with 31.5". Thank you for the answer.
Even if the gray V8 is superior for power for torque and for tyre size the difference is made by the driver! 😜
The drivability of the auto is definitely better in the silver one than the manual in the blue one. but the blue one is more fun to watch surely?
