I love how you do such great dramatic updates of classic folk songs. I think this one feels a little choppy. It's like every verse is being sung by a different person. But each person is really good at singing and has a great sweater, so I can't complain too much. Thanks for the lovely song!

I loved this video! I was waiting forever to see you start playing the instruments, then laughed my rear end off when the discount for the jumpers came up.🤣🤣🤣 The long-awaited instruments came right after that (and now I realize that I'm spoiled rotten by always getting to see you play instruments relatively early on in your videos). I'd love to see you do the real version of this. What you did here is absolutely gorgeous, but I confess, since my ancestors fought and died at Culloden, I was a wee bit annoyed when the Outlander folks rewrote it to change the meaning. It's like ... rewriting Flow'r of Scotland as a hiking song or something. I guess there's just something about the idea of old songs written to commemorate the fallen being turned into "cutesy" or "twee" little ditties. That's why I love your version of Loch Lomond so much. SO many people sing it as a jaunty little tune, because they don't understand what it's about and have no idea that the "low road" they're so blithely lilting on about is actually death. Your version of it really captures the mix of sadness and melancholy of knowing you'll never see home again, tinged with the anger of a man who's witnessed what happened at the end of that mess.
Honestly Outlander is one of the greatest historical fiction TV shows out there today next to Black Sails, Vikings, and Turn: Washington’s Spies
