I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.... You’re already a pilot, just missing the certificate. Your instructor must be proud..............................
Clearly the instructor lost some sort of wager on this one. Congrats on the solo. I made sure to chug 10 ounces of bourbon prior to watching but then knew all would be good when I heard ‘F#$& you gravity’ Congratulations Gareth
I haven't been a fan of students with cameras in the cockpit, but watching this I'll recant and say it can be a great teaching aid. You have solid radio skills for a student, and it's great to see someone that can maintain the centerline! Nice work!!
Flight was in 1968 at age 16. Flew from KPLR (Pell City, Alabama) to KGAD (Gadsden, Alabama) to KJFX (Jasper, Alabama) and back to KPLR. Very fond memories
Congrats Gareth and a nice breakfast at Vero Beach! I only managed to get a bun and a coffee at Lydd on my solo cross country but the skies all looked the same good luck and keep safe
Congrats! Beautiful first leg. Your landing was smooooth as buttah, and you looked very comfortable with all aspects of the flight. LewDix learned ya well. :-) Looking forward to seeing the rest of the cross-county flight. Thanks for the video. Keep them coming, please. :-)
I’m working on my PPL out of Melbourne. It was nice to hear N739YH on the Melbourne tower frequency, a plane I have flown quite a few times. Love the videos!
Is this what I remember as the "long" cross country? 2:25 - LewDix Aviation Checklist: -Wearing LewDix Aviation shirt - Drat!! 5:34 - If you bust Bravo airspace, Lew said to chuck your logbook out the window, so that nothing gets traced back to him. 9:31 - You could whip out your metal E6B and plot wind and groundspeed or something. Maybe a call into Flightwatch to give a Pirep. Maybe just a quick call to Lew for a nice chat? 11:20 - That's some really slick pilotage skills going on. 18:55 - Don't you also need to get a signature in your logbook after landing that leg. Maybe that's old.
That part was somewhat comical. I did have various landing spots in mind but I can certainly reference them in a future video if people would find that interesting.
A lovely video! I found it quite interesting to watch. I didn't do any stopping at all in my private solos. In my instrument rating cross-country, I believe we stopped at the destination, got a crew car, had lunch at something like Applebees, and then flew back. Seems like a good idea to me. Keep up the flying and stay safe!
I’ll do my best! Most students will do a full stop taxi back, which I did on the second leg, but I had been up since 5:30am for this flight so thought I deserved it.
Great vid! not boring at all! im getting ready to solo in 2 weeks, love your radio confidence!! That is what i lack big time! oh well! All in time i guess.
Great video. Do you ever get a fear of falling when flying? I flew in a Cessna one time and felt like I was about to fall to my death at any moment. LOL
Great video Gareth and well flown. If you hadn't said about solo cross country etc most people would have thought you were an experienced pilot. Great stuff and looking forward to the next leg 😎 👌 🇬🇧 Tim
I like the humor man. Keep up the flying. Approaching my solo very soon as well. I also have a question, I notice you used a lower third template in the edit to provide us with “The Lake” I am curious what is that template called bc I would like to start edits soon. Thanks!!
Thanks! I’m not sure. They may inform the FAA, they may not. It was well above the altitude limit for drones, but I don’t know if they’ll do anything about it.
From what I understand (though I don't know for sure either), they collect as much info as they can and report it to local police who try to apprehend the owner, similar to a laser attack. They warn other nearby traffic to watch for it, and if it is too close to the airport, they move the aircraft to a different runway or different aircraft.
Greetings from the UK , great video , well done ......if it had been me I would have phone dixon up and said you have arrived at the first airport , but told him one in the wrong direction and the other side of. Florida ........may be that's a bit cruel😁 look forward to the next leg
Another great video, I really enjoy watching them. Just one question re some of the radio calls. You were sometimes responding "for 0 4 2' which, to UK listeners, sounds like "4 0 4 2". I hear this on other US channels and wondered if it was something that US pilots are taught to say or instructed to say? It wouldn't be an issue in the UK as all UK registered aircraft use letters only. Just wondered. Cheers.
Oddly enough, I said to Dixon the other day that I need to stop doing that. He’s guilty of it as well. It doesn’t appear to be an issue here as no one has ever instructed me not to say it, but the whole 4042 thing does bother me.
David Smeaton This is the first time I’ve seen someone catch this. I’ve said it many times and never really noticed how it could be interpreted as a number in the call sign rather than just saying “for me”. Good catch.
What is this “speaking checklist” that you speak of? ForeFlight feature I’m not aware of or did you record Lewis’ voice because you miss him? 😆 Great video!
Ok I just went into ForeFlight and played with the checklists and wow.... I’m working on CPL and just learned something from a student pilot. This just shows the value of these videos. Thanks and keep em coming.
hey man! I think I have asked this before but could not find the conversation lol. Wanted to ask what school you learned in the warrior at? I am a collage student in Orlando and left off my training in the warrior on my first solo in New Jersey, and am looking to finish training during this year, and am looking for the warrior to keep flying. Also Beautiful landing!
You said it would be boring but I disagree, great fun flight. When I did my cross country I talked to myself constantly and I didn't have a camera filming. Can't wait to see the next leg of the flight. #F@$kYouGravity!
Your videos are deceptive, they make it look easy because your a natural at it. Is there any reason you don't use the "student pilot' in your initial radio calls on this. I'm aware you have the ability and confidence to fly, I just understood it to be a requirement also a benefit as the controllers give you more time/spacing etc.
Haha - I started reading “Your videos are deceptive” and thought “Oh, here we go!” 😂😂😂 Firstly, thanks for your kind words. I’m not aware of radio calls to include ‘Student Pilot’ being mandatory. I’m fairly certain it’s optional. It’s something Dixon and I never discussed. You are right though, some people use it as a way to encourage controllers to be extra patient and offer some leniency. If it’s something you’d personally rather do, then go for it. Whatever makes flying/training easier.
Does N32042 really say "F*ck you gravity"? I imagine there to be more of a mild discussion between the two, from which gravity is reluctantly convinced to let 042 fly...
It's a Piper, it's really more of a "fuck you" to the laws of physics for somehow allowing that brick to gain any altitude. Unlike the superior Cessna products where gravity has to plead for it's return to the Earth. (I so hope Lewis sees this).
@@ZeroThreeDelta it was Orlando flight training back then with Cabair . Changed to attractions then. Used to fly to Okeechobee Vero beach and Venice to name a few. Lovely days.
It's so confusing listening to this for me, as here "Melbourne Tower" (YMML) is right bang in the middle of it's Class C airspace, and you very definitely need to be talking to them waay before you get anywhere near it!
13:00 I'm dying. Your reaction is too funny hahah. Thanks for the vid, great one!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.... You’re already a pilot, just missing the certificate. Your instructor must be proud..............................
Dunno. Haven’t seen him for a while 🤷🏻♂️😘
lol

It's a real plane too! None of that high wing nonsense.
oh man oh man oh man, I wish to be able to edit something like that! This is a masterpiece mate!
Thanks man! 😁
I haven't been a fan of students with cameras in the cockpit, but watching this I'll recant and say it can be a great teaching aid. You have solid radio skills for a student, and it's great to see someone that can maintain the centerline! Nice work!!
Buck Buchanan Thank you very much! Really appreciate it 😁
Zero Three Delta I should’ve said, you got solid radio skills, period!
Well done and congratulations. Did my solo cross countries 52 years ago.
Oh wow. What was the route you took way back when?

Congrats and well done! I would only suggest at 11:30 after Dead reckoning, ground features, also to identify suitable land for emergency landing..
That part was somewhat comical. I did have various landing spots in mind but I can certainly reference them in a future video if people would find that interesting.

Congratulations Gareth, so far good
Indeed! I did make it back to Orlando so the rest of it went well, too. It’s just no one has seen it yet 😂
Unreal quality... great Video as always!
Julian S Thanks! 😁
Right tire on that plane needs to be changed! ASAP! Nice job on the X-Country!
Thank you 😁
you made that look so easy.....down to your own skills and insructor Dixon. I will let you decide who is the winner on that one. Well done!
It's surely a combination of both ;)
Beautiful video!
Thanks! 😁
Nice radio work. That can be intimidating. And you reported the drone, which was helpful.
I've always enjoyed conversing on the radio.
Thanks, Tim 😁
Great flight dude.
I thought you asked for water canons to celebrate your XC flight! 😜
I did. The service at Vero is awful 😂
Zero Three Delta💦💦 🚒
When your able to file IFR you won’t have to worry about all the airspaces you’ll just have clearance thru them.
That is a factually correct statement 😁👍🏻
Nice flight, BTW- F U gravity could also work on landing.
True, although I have to be a little kinder to gravity on the way back down.
I like the humor man. Keep up the flying. Approaching my solo very soon as well. I also have a question, I notice you used a lower third template in the edit to provide us with “The Lake” I am curious what is that template called bc I would like to start edits soon. Thanks!!
I tend to use stuff from VideoHive.net. Check them out - they're pretty good!
Interesting to hear ATC in the background talking about that drone, i wonder what they do in that situation. Great job by the way!
Thanks!
I’m not sure. They may inform the FAA, they may not. It was well above the altitude limit for drones, but I don’t know if they’ll do anything about it.
I have been diverted twice due to a drone near the pattern. Sometimes they stop takeoffs and landings as a precaution.
From what I understand (though I don't know for sure either), they collect as much info as they can and report it to local police who try to apprehend the owner, similar to a laser attack. Haha, alas ... I called him and said I had arrived at "Palm Beach Airport". Luckily, he saw the funny side of it!
Tell him you landed at 06FA and need bail money.
Very well done! I told you keeping the Atlantic on the left would get you there:)
😂😂😂
Nice work.
Appreciate it.
Hey bud I enjoy watching your videos. Could you tell me how you have the checklist imported into foreflight. I fly the same type of airplane
Thanks for watching!
It was a simple case of me entering it into ForeFlight, manually. Sorry there isn’t a better solution.
Hey no problem thanks for replying
Really enjoyed this one. Good job! Who edits your videos?
I edit all my videos.
Zero Three Delta excellent fucking edits bro! I’m so glad to hear two-dix doesn’t do it!

Christian Noble Now we just need to get Dixon to record his own checklist and we’re golden! 😂
I’ll take that over the current, even with a few f-bombs. 😝
😂

You must have almost all the hours and requirements completed now for the checkride? You'll breeze through it with flying like this!
It’s just the solo time I need to build, which was hindered by the medical. I’ve got about 5.5hrs left until all the hours are accumulated.
Zero Three Delta Same here. 8 solo to go. Leaving the pattern for The cross country still scares me a bit.
And congrats on the wife thing !
Was that Harrison Ford at 16:55
Haha, it certainly does sound like him! I’m fairly certain it’s not as he doesn’t fly a Cardinal but I guess we’ll never truly know 🤷🏻♂️😁
Nice Job Mate!
Appreciate it!
For some reason your solo videos are always more relaxing to watch... wonder why...😂
Appreciate it 😁

pacadet what goes up must come down... unless it’s a Cessna which only goes upwards and horizontal.
LewDix Aviation That whole “Take-offs are optional but landings are mandatory” really doesn’t apply in a Cessna.
Did you mean to keep the window open
Yeah, because it’s bloody hot in Florida at this time of year. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
How is the pressure of the a20's on your glasses?
It’s fine. The necessity for something like ‘Flying Eyes’ seems to only apply to those under 30 🤷🏻♂️😂
CJ Cannons! Nom nom nom
Nom nom nom indeed! 😁
Amazing, did my ppl in Kissimmee
Cool. Which school did you use?

KMLB class Delta
If you didn't post it Lewdix wouldn't have known if you'd cocked it up!!
Hahaha. When I landed I called him and said “Well, I’ve made it to Palm Beach” 😂
Nice :)
Indeed 😁
@@ZeroThreeDelta Are you ever planning to move back to England?
Decimal 😂😂😂 decimal hahah
You my friend are the only one I know that says decimal
Haha. Not uncommon in the UK 🤷🏻♂️
Dude! That meal was sooooo unhealthy, suggest you try a plant based diet (vegan like)....great flight btw.
Yeah, I know. A little indulgence every now and again ... but you’ll never make me a vegan or a vegetarian. Sorry.
Poor foreign guy who can barely speak English:) lol I guess they don't speak English in England.
