I hope the host reads my comment. Many listeners to this podcast commented that the host almost always agrees with his guests (seemingly for politeness reasons-I don’t think he really agrees all the time). Why not challenge the guests? It is what makes the podcasts successful. For me, good hosts are the ones who mimic the child who asks his parents so many questions about the things that he/she hears or witnesses (just be the child [host] who bothers the parents [guests] with many dumb questions). A good host is the one who knows: 1- when (including interruptions) and 2- what - to ask follow up questions to the points that the guests is trying to convey. Many hosts don’t master this skill and stick to the questions that they prepare in advance of the episode. That’s why although Lex Fridman brings better guests to his podcast, Joe Rogan, for me, is the better host. Rogan doesn’t shy away from asking dumb questions (which momentarily reflects the questions that pop up in the minds of most lay audiences), he doesn’t need to pretend to know what his guests are talking about, and he doesn’t stick to his pre-prepared questions. Unfortunately so far, I haven’t listened to any Saudi podcast host (including ثمانية) who has this skill (mimicking the child curiosity). In this episode, if I were the host I would call out any pseudoscience conclusions that she presented as facts like the law of attraction. I would always say: feel free to believe in these things such as astrology (zodiac signs), alternative medicine (e.g. chiropractors), law of attraction…etc. But with all due respect, do not present them as facts. Science follows evidence in a very careful process and make conclusions accordingly (on which we can consider them facts until proven otherwise). Pseudosciences, however, either do not follow any evidence (and make conclusions solely based on unverifiable philosophical arguments) or do follow evidence but with a confirmation bias. Therefore, I would call out any such BS when presented as facts and see what the guests have to say. Anyways, maybe this is just me. Thank you for the episode!

I appreciate Saudi wants to modernise and needs to diversify away from oil dependency. But unfortunately you can’t have your cake and eat it. “In the late 1960's, the shah sent King Faisal a series of letters that said: ''Please, my brother, modernize. Open up your country. Make the schools mixed women and men. Let women wear miniskirts. Have discos. Be modern. Otherwise I cannot guarantee you will stay in your throne.'' King Faisal wrote back: ''Your majesty, I appreciate your advice. May I remind you, you are not the shah of France. You are not in the Élysée. You are in Iran. Your population is 90 percent Muslim. Please don't forget that.'' It’s such a shame so many Muslims have such an inferiority complex towards the west and feel they need to “out west” the west Unfortunately Saudis like most middle eastern countries heritage is predicated on its Islamic heritage, unless they want to revive their pagan history and India has already cornered the “idolatry”tourism market Young muslims make up a huge potential market for Saudi - why focus on the west with its low birth rates and an aging population. Iblis must be laughing at what’s going on … you’ve been hypnotised into thinking the west is great While China and Russia have already pivoted away

Why transgress His Command ?

I appreciate Saudi wants to modernise and needs to diversify away from oil dependency.
But unfortunately you can’t have your cake and eat it.
“In the late 1960's, the shah sent King Faisal a series of letters that said: ''Please, my brother, modernize. Open up your country. Make the schools mixed women and men. Let women wear miniskirts. Have discos. Be modern. Otherwise I cannot guarantee you will stay in your throne.''
King Faisal wrote back: ''Your majesty, I appreciate your advice. May I remind you, you are not the shah of France. You are not in the Élysée. You are in Iran. Your population is 90 percent Muslim. Please don't forget that.''
It’s such a shame so many Muslims have such an inferiority complex towards the west and feel they need to “out west” the west
Unfortunately Saudis like most middle eastern countries heritage is predicated on its Islamic heritage, unless they want to revive their pagan history and India has already cornered the “idolatry”tourism market
Young muslims make up a huge potential market for Saudi - why focus on the west with its low birth rates and an aging population.
Iblis must be laughing at what’s going on … you’ve been hypnotised into thinking the west is great
While China and Russia have already pivoted away

Yup the audience was pretty much third wheeling 😅. I thought it was werid that some of her english is with an arab accent for living 17 years aboard. Lots of clichés. The talk spread out way too long.

Saudi Arabia participant in beauty contest.
There is little objections from almost all Islamic countries to Saudi Arabia participating in Beauty contest EXCEPT FOR PAKISTANI MAULVIS AND ORDINARY PEOPLE WHERE THERE APPEARS TO BE MAJOR OPPOSITION. WHY?

If it's genuinely important, then by all means put something else in front of family, but a beauty pageant???

i wish to see her in miss universe and to have enough bravery and participate in bikini round
It’s not surprising that women who know themselves to be beautiful mostly like to pose in front of the camera. But there is a risk for men because there is a high probability of cheating.
@kluunverbeek152 I don't know who Amr Diab is. But if you told me that she was dating Johnny Sins, that would be impossible if he didn't cheat on her. 😆
@kluunverbeek152 Then he must be very rich and would not care if she cheats. .

Time? , best encapsulated in Sura Al-Asr. Pageantry and commodifying femaleness would not be one of them. Muslims unlike others have red lines. You cannot be everything to everybody. This is from someone who lives in the West. Average advice, maybe, but it is from a Muslim's perspective. God have endowed you with both beauty and brain (Marshallah) a rare combination. Why transgress His Command ?
