Didn't Batman once say "Man or woman a sick mind is capable of anything."
I believe so.
Yeah. It was in the Animated Series episode with Ivy and Harley
He swapped face and body's like male and female
When Batman was surprised Red Claw was a woman... Red Claw told Batman, what! you think a woman isn't capable of committing such crimes... Batman's response, not at all.... I'm actually an equal opportunity crime fighter... Meaning you all get these hands, man or woman👍
How gay
Lady Dimitrescu if she was a mob boss.
Also, nightmare fuel fact: She keeps the corpses of her victims in the Iceberg Lounge and the penguin motif is played more horrifically when you find out that mother penguins actually kill their offspring.
OMG YES!!! INWAS LITERALLY COMING HERE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE GOT LADY DIMISTRESCU VIBES!!!!
Dude yes; I get those exact same vibes
Big bad vampire lady!
Really now? Why?
my head cannon is that she has a son that is the regular oswald that she named after herself and will take over for her.
Also ya she kinda is lady D just shorter and less hair.
penguins will sometimes asult there children as well and I don't mean slapping chicks with there flippers so who knows what season to will bring.
Few people manage to pull a "I hit exactly what I wanted to" on Batman and have it feel natural.
Oswalda fucking EARNED that audacious little smirk as she fired the cannon.
I still say Olivia would've been a better name.
I'm honestly not all that broken up about the penguin being a woman. She kinda gives off an Ursula vibe.
Wish she had a better voice, though she sounds a bit generic.

She is still pure evil..
I don't care that they changed the gender of the Penguin, the important thing is that they kept the idea that the hammers of justice are unisex, and that what Batman stands for.
Damn right. I was salty he didn’t drop the hammer of justice when he locked the umbrella in his arm smh missed opportunity to display some equal rights and lefts
When the writing is good you can’t complain! The gender swaps and race swaps are only ever pointed out when the writing/acting is bad . At least that’s what I feel
It’s the 1940’ best show of feminism
Because Batman is Batman.
So why don't we have male harley quinn?
Holy shit that’s some firepower so she’s taking out competition…I like that they kept the fact penguin is a crime Lord who goes to the extreme to get what they want
“Okay, Dracula, you asked for it!” 😂👏

The only problem I have about this, is that they imply that Bullock is a dirty cop.
Harvey Bullock may be a disgusting overweight bulldog in a trenchcoat, but he is a good guy and fine cop.
Alternate reality. Not EVERYTHING has to be 1-to-1 with the main universe.
He usually is but he's been crooked in some old comics with connections to Thorne.
Maybe he will get a redemption arc?
It would be nice to see him change; let's see where it goes and what may happen
@@SolidariusLive fun fact. In original Batman animated series Bullock was supposed to be crooked cop but after sending Gordon to hospital the writers decided to change that, said he felt bad and became Gordon’s friend and a foil to Batman.
Both Harvey and Batman break the rules of the game, but in different ways.
While Batman is a vigilantee outside jurisdiction, Bullock was too harsh and often played a bad/mean cop. The main reason why Bullock didn’t like Batman in the animated series was supposed to be that he was jealous of how much freedom of action Batman has while Gordon keeps him on a leash, although Gordon was still allowing Harvey much more leeway than anyone else Becuase he knew that while Harvey may be as likable as oil stain on a new rug, he gets result and would never turn dirty.
Examples of Harvey bending/breaking rules to do his job included breaking into buildings, looking into reporter files, outright stealing stuff.
Bullock was only dirty if you talk about his hygiene, even Alfred said he is „a detective that looks like unmade bed”
But if A Bullet for Bullock proved to us anything, it is that Harvey is a terrible guy with a good heart.
@@Bakuganluver23 some things must stay the same or you are doing something completely different like the Boys or Invincible
If Batman is not a detective, kills and uses guns then he is not Batman but a Punisher cosplaying as a bat
If Penguin does not have a tuxedo, a tall hat, and umbrella that is also a weapon then he, or in this case she, is not Penguin but some fat weirdo with a gun
If Superman does not have an S on his chest then he is not a Superman but a random alien with superpowers.
And if Harvey Bullock is a dirty cop then he is not Harvey Bullock but some random corrupt cop
Look up a Bullet for Bullock episode and og comics with him. Harvey is a bastard, but he is a bastard who would arrest Batman if he crossed a line and Batman would thank him for that.
Her son is 100% gonna be the next penguin after her

There was also a Lon Cheney Sr. reference too. The film being shot later in the episode has a fiend right out of "London at Midnight".
An umbrella-themed rocket launcher on top of the Iceberg Lounge? That is so creative, and so in line for the Penguin!

I just finished Season 1, and I really enjoyed this more classical take on Batman and how much of an homage it is to the Golden Age of Batman comics and to Batman: The Animated Series. The new voice actor for Batman does a pretty solid job, and though I do think the animation is a bit off sometimes, I still quite like this show and excited to see the future potential this show has
The animation look fine though there was one scene from the Nocturna episode that was obviously done in Flash.

0:30 - Going by how the guy calls her "Ma", is it possible this version of Penguin is based on Ma Barker of the Barker-Karpis Gang? The time period/setting would be about right for it.
My only real gripe is that I always thought the Penguin was about being classy, or at least *trying* to be classy, which isn't an impression I get from this Penguin.

Oswald: inhumane look, but somehow still keeps his humanity, showing consideration for his mascots and (sometimes) his henchmen.
Oswald: a normal human (probably attractive in her good old days) but morally more than putrid and with no mercy for anyone, even her own children.
Both chars are very different. And well executed.
It’s kind of Golden Age mixed with a bit of BTAS, Batman 66, and Gotham Central.
It’s like the Batman meets the godfather
Female Penguin was OK as a character, but they really should've given her a totally different name and treated her like a different character, Like the female version of the Ventriloquist. As a standalone character, not just a female version of Oswald Cobblepott, she would've been fine. And she looks like an emperor penguin, which is fitting
Seriously. Gender swapping Oswald was a mistake. Mama Penguin should have been an OC who passes the empire onto Oswald at some point in the series.
1:39: What Did She Say Now That's Crossing The Line.
She said: "well i'll be damned"
The least I’ll give this show is that the action sequences are absolutely beautiful and Batman’s voice is great.
I think hollywood will never learn its lesson.
Why?
@@kaijureaper61 because gender bending a character isn't gonna make the show better. "Batman doesn't have any good villians" is what the writers of the show said.
This didn't stop the show from doing well
I like that they didn't just flip Penguin's gender, they also flipped her personality.
The traditional Penguin has a lot of resentment about how his family is looked down upon by other rich families and really wants to be a legitimate member of high society but he's really awkward around them. This Penguin is very comfortable in high society and mingles well with them, but she still keeps those illicit dealings like the traditional Penguin.
Also, a lot of previous versions of the Penguin also had overbearing mothers. This version is a neglectful awful mother.
She's also real butch, in a 1930s kinda way. I can see them doing a lot of interesting stuff with that.
Gender swapping penguin is unnecessary.

Why make Alfred fat? I hope they don’t keep changing characters too much it would be too weird if everyone was an alternate variation of themselves.
IT's because, in the Golden age of Comics, Alfred was more heavyset, though his position as Bruce's confidant wasn't made until later on.
In the very old comics, he was fat
Also because nobody wants the same exact Batman cartoons over and over.
I'm fine with these, I know it was going to be different when they changed whole lot of characters, however the show still make them fit.

The animation quality of the 1992 show is great but by the time we had The New Batman Adventures, the style had completely changed and wasn't nearly as smooth or detailed but we accepted it and we've been living with that ever since and that was not a big deal. This show has its own style and is doing its own thing and I can respect that. I like it for what it is. We've seen Batman the Brave and the Bold and that didn't have outstanding animation either but it did some very unique things with Batman. Great animation costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time. Hey look, it's Mr McNickpicky! A loser with no life and completely forgetting that this takes place in the early 1900s. Not to mention the characters are fictional and they can do whatever the hell they want with the characters!
He just said he doesn't like it , fuq off😮
Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell is the Best Penguin
i mean, if u want more female villains, JUST ADD MORE. using the same old material but changing it up is less entertaining and just pisses people off (ofc not me, i dont givafuk)
Show was goat. All 10 episodes are a 10/10
I heard that the Penguin is a woman in this show, but I could be wrong. Other than that I love the fight scene between Batman and the Penguin and I love this show im general!😅🤩🦇🐧
Why is it a bad thing for the Penguin to be a woman in this version exactly?
@@Regenmacher175 I don't know, some people had some problems with the change, but I don't know why.
@@Regenmacher175, and what’s good with that?
@@Grim_Reaper. It's a different version, something I have not seen done a billion times with that character before. That in and of itself is interesting to me.
@@Regenmacher175 , gender switch is interesting? How? It’s still the same Penguin, just in a woman skin. That’s my point - it isn’t good or bad change, it’s just… weird and unnecessary.
The Iceberg Lounge yacht was parked over an oceanic graveyard?
Those were put there by the penguin
@@loganmarshall3606 Yeah, found that out in a different vid. Offed her own son; yikes on bikes...
The sheer number of 'boxes' (caskets) down there makes you wonder just how long she's been doing this, though. Prolific.
So Penguin has moved to artillery guns in umbrellas.
moved he always had that
@@jimbo9208 exactly.
He's had that forever in the comics since the 40s...
@@writerartist6306”he”.. lol … don’t you mean she
Yeah he also moved on to having a vagina
Why is the Penguin a chick?
I don't see why Barbara had to be as old as Batman, or her and Gordon to be dark-skinned. Gingers deserve to exist too.
I actually like that barbara is as old as batman, since a lot of adaptations have middle aged batman get with early-20s barbara.
Better to have her like that than having her date him as a minor.
Also yeah, gingers strangely get raceswapped a lot
I didn't hear any complaints when the Lego Batman movie did this in 2017. Why now? Likely because this turned into a talking point getting parrots by right wing politicians.
@@jesser5138 pretty sure she was in college
Funny how penguins are known for their great parenting yet she just....murdered her own son, without even giving a single fuck
*Where is the real penguin*
Complain about every DC Elseworlds that's come out since they've done alternative spins on all of their characters for decades.
we can all agree though that this is way better than what kill the justice league is doing
@@beckywilson1550 they both are some virtuous garbage.
This feels a lot more comic booky than the other episodes. Giant umbrella cannon, bat-submarine, the works. I would’ve preferred more of this instead of the forgettable NBC cop drama this show was trying to be most of the time.
Also, I guess we know Bruce Timm’s type now lol
This show is Dull ASF!
You know, Batman should look at the positives like the police officers are safe and the penguin won’t be killing anyone and we should be grateful it wasn’t anyone else
Batman seems like he's a "glass half empty" kind of person.
not for me,tnx anyway.
cry hard snydercult😂
