I got this game and started up with a few families. The fox is my main one, then I have a herd of fallow deer, and the there is my North American cougar. He has taken a rather unusual method of survival. He has formed coalition with three other male cougars. A pair of brothers (they are both South American cougars) and a younger North American male. The four of them are the terrors of the forest. XD
I think you did well explaining the death system and it sound like it will work great. I like how it scales with age and with how many times you’ve went down.

Is two the maximum number of cubs you can have?
Is there's only 4 slots then unfortunately it probably is, unless there is a way to get 3 somehow
