Excellent video!! This will help so many busy adults to keep doing what they love! Also, good to know Patreon has this new feature!
Sooooooo, I need to rethink my practice. Ouch!
Thank you for all the great ideas !
Thank you for the video! I am taking the advice and is working! Thank you so much
Love Love Love this!!! Thank you! So often we think we need to be able to sit down for at least an hour to make progress, but it's the small changes and things we pick up if we consistently work on things that really matter. (But yes - sometimes I still have that bad habit of waiting until the day before or day of my lessons to work on things)
I am now retired but I very much used to practice on my lunch (I worked in music store so it wasn't considered weird).
Saying that we’re teaching ourselves to mess up in the same spot every time hit hard
I love this Cally!!!!! excellent video!!!!! thanks you so much!!!! I've played clarinet now for 45 years,
Thank you so much for this video, I will follow the steps
Thank you for your interesting videos. They are very helpful!
When you say practicing 10 minutes is better than not to practice do you skip the warm-up? Do 10 minutes have a positive effect when none of the participants (me, instrument, reed) is prepared?
Greetings from Germany! I wished you were my teacher 😊
I usually prioritize what really needs to get done, so that means sometimes a couple of scales to warm up and the jump right into the music after that
Do you recommend the 4 volume Rubank series of Clarinet methods..., advanced I, advanced 2, elementary, and intermediate
Yes, 👍
I also like the Langenus method and the Hovey Book 1 & 2 Practical studies
One thing I do to make myself practice is, set your instrument up on a stand or some place where you'll see it. When an instrument is locked away in the the case its out of sight out of mind. Either leave your case opened...or take it out. Ever notice that many people who've never played the piano or drums will try to play them because they're sitting there waiting to be played.
Part of instrument practice procrastination is due (in my opinion) to the tediousness of setting up a reed instrument that's locked away. If it's all set up, then all you need to do is wet the reed and Boom! you're to go. It works! I've done this for years. You'll be inspired to play. Always warm up on something you really enjoy playing. It gets the juices flowing. I always warm up on a slow Blues and I feel great.
