I bought a CA901 four days and absolutely love it. The features are endless. One thing that was not really talked about is the upright samples. They are outstanding. I am a huge fan of upright pianos and, for the first time, have a digital piano that delivers a true upright sound. The speakers are balanced to perfection and sound professional level. I played the CA901 on the showroom floor beside a Kawai ST1 and felt only a minor difference in the action; not for better or worse, just a little different. Listening with headphones is a new experience. The sound experience is akin to being in a movie theater. My only complaint is the music rest. It's more of a design feature than a user-friendly tool. I cannot wait to keep exploring.
I own a CLP775 and I previously a Roland FP10 keyboard. Upgraded cause I wanted better speakers and fully graded keys. I am really happy but seems like I eventually get to the point were the speakers don't sound enough real anymore. On the 775 the high notes seem overly bright and harsh with volume at 50%(I don't dare going higher...cause gets unpleasant). Wondering if this is a digital handicap (or myself handicap) I will find on all digitals? How does the speakers hold up on the CA901?
Hope next time you guys record the room sound (or maybe the sound from player’s perspective) rather than the direct out or the soundboard (since the soundboard doesn’t include the output of frequency-specific speakers at the top and under the keyboard)
I bought a CA99 just months before thr CA901 was announced and was a little bit annoyed but I I'm disappointed with it at all. I can't emphasize enough the quality of the piano action. It's as good as it gets without being an acoustic piano and a delight to play.
It would be better next time to do short back-to-back clips playing the same short passage on each instrument using the same primary Piano 1 (the best piano is always the first in the Menu of sounds). This video leaves me totally unable to compare the sound of the CA99 vs the CA901 PIano 1. I don't care about all the many variations of every onboard patch.
Is it correct that they made some slight improvements to how the Grand Feel III action plays? Some reviewers said that the action feels better on the new models. Thanks!
How about showing the respective settings of each demonstrated sample? Also, a direct comparison of both pianos with similar parameters and both with the SK EX Concert Grand rendering plus the new one with the Competition Grand setting would have been nice. Ba du ba du da voices are of lesser interest to most piano buyers I guess. Some of those additional voices are, frankly, nothing to write home about. I have adjusted our CA99 with the „Virtual Technician“ quite a bit. Out of the box, I felt it sounded a bit too indirect due to the ambience effects and too shrill in the upper octaves. With some tweaking now it‘s more like sitting right in front of an acoustic piano. This is of course only possible with the soundboard which is incredible.
GiovanniBausC , I agree some of these comparisons would be informative. I feel that like so many new models of things lately, the improvements are incremental and subtle rather than ground breaking as opposed to what manufacturers and dealerships might suggest sometimes. I still really like my CA-99 especially after the latest firmware update with improvements to the user interface. Likewise I have definitely had to get in and change the default settings to even out the response and tone down the ambience simulation to sound more like I am playing a piano in my living room. I am trying to break away from only using headphones (because the piano sounds fantastic through them) to start utilising the speakers so others may hear, and I can enjoy the vibrations through the soundboard. May I ask what global equalisation settings you settled for in your listening environment. I found that I had to reduce the bass, with bass cut, to alleviate some of the “boxy” sound from the speakers. Adjusting the rendering settings are fine to suit different styles of playing and music, but getting that global equalisation correct for your particular room is vital to get things under control. I am still fiddling with this after nearly 2 years of ownership. I do love the piano, and really appreciate this channel for its regular content. They do a great job.
I'd like to see that video too. My old digital piano just died and its a toss up between the 901, and the 785. I'm also tempted by the acoustic K500 as an acoustic alternative. So much choice these days. Your videos are amazing, thank you!
Yes, only the competition sample improves upon it. But I have to give it to the competition 9' it sounds a lot similar to the Hyperion Alexander piano.
j'ai eu les 2 ,le ca 99 et 901 et j'ai retourné le ca 901 pendant le délai de rétractation .le ca 901 un son médiocre pour de nouvelles technologie, le son des aigues est criarde. déception
I got a 701 and it was making a clicking sounds when hitting the key. I upgraded for the 901 and same issue. I am so very disappointed this piano!! Does any one has the same issue with their piano?

Could you elaborate about the music rest please?
7:42 CA901 Competition Grand
14:07 CA901 "Mic to Soundboard"
19:50 CA99 (SK-EX))
20:42 CA99 Variation 2

Ma perché non hanno fatto la registrazione del ca99 con il microfono sulla tavola armonica?

I really like the CA99. It seems like an amazing instrument. I hope you are enjoying it. 😌
I honestly like it from past comparisons, but Ned is a great pianist making an amazing case for the 901.

True
They also need a much better pianist.
I just bought the CA 901 for 3600 Euro in Germany. So why is it 2x the price in the US?

I have the ca701… I think, looking at all the top digital in that price range… it’s just the best. Casio comes second imo. Than Roland then Yamaha

A really pleasure to watch that video. Would be really nice and cool: a video "Kawai CA901" vs "Yamaha CLP785". Would you consider?
Because of your suggestion, it should be coming out...topic is NOW in the hopper!
@@tedbarsalou833 cool, thx

@@christownshend8859 I'd say 901 / 902
Has anyone ever asked what that piece is you are playing?
Those CA99 pieces with wurlitzer sound was as just as wonderful as the Bill Withers song, just the two of us.
can someone learn 10 seconds of 2 or 3 classical music pieces and demo it? I'd guess at least 30% of your customers play classical music too...
CA99 is better

don't be disappointed, other piano were not better than this one, even worse.
@@abrahamsg8318 what do you mean. What other pianos?
