For my story, I had named two of my characters LONG BEFORE I knew what their meanings were. One was named Nicholas and the other was named Miyako. I went about their names not knowing a thing until I did some research about it. A nickname of Nicholas, Nico, in Japanese would mean "sunlight" or "daylight" while a definition of Miyako can mean "beautiful" "night" "child" This ended up fitting so well with the roles I had planned for the characters and how they would start as opposites and then become partners, they're metaphorically the sun and moon!

In naruto the little things with pink in the ramen is called narutomaki and Kishimoto probably just thought of uzu in front of maki because he went to a ramen shop near his college called ichiraku ramen and they had the narutomaki in it so in the manga and anime naruto is named after that in the ramen and his favorite food is ramen

I had a character that didn't have a name for a while, but when I finally gave him a name, his vibe was stronger and it made him more intimidating. The meaning of the name added more impact than the name itself.

I named my character Akuma Tatsuda. I picked the first name for his back story is that his parents are street fighter gamers & liked the character akuma.

"Call signs" are good character tropes in military fiction and military science fiction particularly in pilot culture. The reimagine of Battlestar Galactica played on this very well, e.g. Lee Adama used the call sign Apollo (playing on the original series) and Kara Thrace was known as "Starbuck" -and although they used their rank and actual name in formal conversation with superior officers, amongst their peers in the squadron they were known as their call sign as a means of camaraderie and esprit de corps. When I reimagined Operation Atlantia that I created in the 70's, I used a lot of that.
I think I use tip 9 a lot, especially for surnames or names of the powers, they usually sound very cool and help people prepare to what they're gonna see or guess some infos about a character

Doves represent peace, which is what Dok wants. It also contrasts with the main antagonist, Marina Hawkorder, foreshadowing the fact that Marina is his grandmother. Another name that I came up with is Rave Notehand, the first name being a reference to the song Rave by Dark, while his last name is a reference to Berserk and based on the fact that he likes taking notes.

Behind the name is a website that has a name generator where you can generate random names. The reason why I recommend it is the fact that they show you the meaning and you can filter names based on different languages. Need a name for a character that’s Russian? Select Russian. They have practically every language that is in common use and even different sections like fantasy names (subsection) or biblical names even.
The main villain of my story is called ''Judo van Moord'' I decided on Judo because it is short but still has a an intimidating vibe to it, and shorter names sound better when placed after titles, like ''Lord Judo''. Van was added there because he is a noble (although a somewhat poor one) and thus the ''van'' would indicate that the name that comes after would be a place name or the name of a noble house. Moord is simply the Dutch word for murder, which makes sense with both his personality and nationality.
Instead of looking up names on sites that focused on babies, look for sites that are focused on dog or pet names. You get alot more creative names and names that just sound cool.
(One) of my characters (who I am drawing right now) Is able to summon a magic sword of darkness, so I named her Pandora. For hopefully obvious reasons.
You can looking up male and female names or name a character off of stars. I names a character after the Aryans belt. Or you can name characters off of food, laundry or something like Dragon Ball. You can also make up a name.

A name with a lot of meaning behind it is: Boruto Boruto not only sounds similar to Naruto, but Boruto means Bolt in japanese. He's named Bolt in honor of his uncle Neji who's name means screw. Boruto also wears a screw as a necklace. And on top of that, Boruto's has an affinity for lightning jutsu. He's also the grandson of The Yellow Flash Minato, user of the flying raijin (flying thunder god). So lightning Bolt.
Well, I have my own little story I'm writing as a hobby, and the two protagonists are called M'azzal and Banserko. M'azzal is a small, moody female assassin, and Banserko is a huge muscled guy with regenarative abilities, but with a tender heart.

If you are looking for a site with names that are more fantasy influenced than the tipical baby name sites, here's a tipp. Instead of babys look for dog or pet names, there are lots of names like Shadow or Beak, names that would not suit a baby but are acceptable in fictional storys.
In my military space opera, one of the squadron leaders is from a race called "Kephradokins", whose formal name is Kephra Aya and goes by the call sign "Keph"

I personally like naming my characters either with something that has to do with Gaulish or Nordic mythology, or after something from the show Charmed (the one from the late 90s to early 2000s). Or I base my characters off of existing concepts such as a specific demon and don't have to come up with a name (I do come up with nicknames though). My two main comics encompass these very closely. But I also add Easter eggs for myself by always naming certain background characters the same. A doughnut shop owner is always named Joe, death personified will always be named Tom and old white mentor characters will have the surname Berrycloth. None of these will ever be more than minor characters of course, but I like to include them and have done it in fanfictions.

My other character (Fack Fapor) His first name Fack is meaning in the word fake. When I thought of his story. His story was just being a liar in the store. Fack roll was just being mysterying are the (guy in the shadows) His last name Fapor is meaning of vaporizes because he was a assassin's that killed without knowing he was killing actual innocent people because he was trained by Owsame Roxie the ten tails. Who made them look like they was the shadow monster. Till his step brother figure show as a shadow monster. Wish showed who Owsame Rocix who he was. At first he was just a (no man with no face) also the (guy in the shadows) till his act been futaltilize by Fack and Hlah. And it reveal that owsame was a kitsune. And he was a 10th tail that's hidden in a 6 tails from When I wrote the story I watched dead shot as reference. For my character that was being misuse by actual assassin's that have been cut down. By society. Wish is in the store. There's other shows that made better ideas for my comics call (baby Taken) (The day when it's time) in short tdwn it. Editor me: there's no main antagonist. And no main protagonist But the character you pick shall be the main character. Even a villin. Which is the (green man with no face) good luck finding that. Because there's a lot of green on the characters. But also, the story is cause by one person. But if I tell. Then it will be a bad story for a secret plot. (I don't know if I have bad grammar or not)
I also forgot to mention that I remember naming my main characters for a story I want to make about a group home full of psychics for hire that is a government funded place to train psychics for possible government defense without actually letting them know as much. When I named my characters it was out of random, and I wound up looking up their meanings to find they actually fit very well with what I was going for on complete accident.
I had a monster once that I thought about using in my manga before it got cancelled, it was based on the yokai, Bakezori, an anthropomorphic sandal and I gave it the name, "Adam Sandals" a reference to the actor's name "Adam Sandler".

The reason why I recommend it is the fact that they show you the meaning and you can filter names based on different languages. Need a name for a character that’s Russian? Select Russian. They have practically every language that is in common use and even different sections like fantasy names (subsection) or biblical names even.
To me Sano kinda sounds like the Spanish word "Sana" which means to " To heal" or just being healthy in general. Correct me if I'm way off.

The main villain of my story is called ''Judo van Moord'' I decided on Judo because it is short but still has a an intimidating vibe to it, and shorter names sound better when placed after titles, like ''Lord Judo''. Van was added there because he is a noble (although a somewhat poor one) and thus the ''van'' would indicate that the name that comes after would be a place name or the name of a noble house. Moord is simply the Dutch word for murder, which makes sense with both his personality and nationality.

You can looking up male and female names or name a character off of stars. I names a character after the Aryans belt. Or you can name characters off of food, laundry or something like Dragon Ball. You can also make up a name.

Well, I have my own little story I'm writing as a hobby, and the two protagonists are called M'azzal and Banserko. M'azzal is a small, moody female assassin, and Banserko is a huge muscled guy with regenarative abilities, but with a tender heart.
There's one character I have where he's the goodie-two-shoes, traditional superhero that always plays by the book and never does anything illegal or controversial, so I decided to give him a name straight out of the Marvel/Stan Lee formula;

The name was made up but upon research there’s a name ‘ashraf’ meaning royalty it’s middle eastern which is kinda a hot place, Ashrif is royalty from a made up hot place and a fire demon. Ash is something from burnt fire and rift is something that divides or is between... or past. He is no longer royalty and can’t get back to his world either way.

The point was that her entre existance is a secret and that she has been kept that all her life. If you are looking for a site with names that are more fantasy influenced than the tipical baby name sites, here's a tipp.
Instead of babys look for dog or pet names, there are lots of names like Shadow or Beak, names that would not suit a baby but are acceptable in fictional storys.
In my military space opera, one of the squadron leaders is from a race called "Kephradokins", whose formal name is Kephra Aya and goes by the call sign "Keph"

I'm hella late, although I'll share my character's name, Televincent. His head's a TV, so it's a play on the word television, and the name Vincent.
That name is actually pretty cool for a character.
I personally like naming my characters either with something that has to do with Gaulish or Nordic mythology, or after something from the show Charmed (the one from the late 90s to early 2000s). Or I base my characters off of existing concepts such as a specific demon and don't have to come up with a name (I do come up with nicknames though). My two main comics encompass these very closely. But I also add Easter eggs for myself by always naming certain background characters the same. A doughnut shop owner is always named Joe, death personified will always be named Tom and old white mentor characters will have the surname Berrycloth. None of these will ever be more than minor characters of course, but I like to include them and have done it in fanfictions.

Anyway, my character name is (Hlah Hazeber) his name is pronounce Hell not hl-ah.
His name was originally made by the rock band call "head like a hole", I used it because, it means the character have billions of time and rewind time too see the secrets in the mysterying crimes that's in the store.
The other reason why his name is Hlah was, hlah was firstly spelled halla. Halla definitions is: Halla is the only grocery-specific AI that enables grocers to predict shopper preferences in real time and offer hyper personalized recommendations that drive revenue and loyalty like never before. Which was kinda use for the story but rewrote different.
His last name Hazeber mean the word hazard. In definitions: "putting something in risk" that also tell the viewer who's reading. That the character is at risk of a story. In the risk was being involved in the ten murder suspect at a hotel room.

His first name Fack is meaning in the word fake. When I thought of his story. His story was just being a liar in the store. At the same time being humanoid to dose that call him a murder by looks. Fack roll was just being mysterying are the (guy in the shadows)

I had a monster once that I thought about using in my manga before it got cancelled, it was based on the yokai, Bakezori, an anthropomorphic sandal and I gave it the name, "Adam Sandals" a reference to the actor's name "Adam Sandler".
Named the protagonist Cyaan/Cyan/Cian (still deciding that), because he has both a blue and a green eye. The other main character is called Hierro (Sounds like hero), it means Iron, cause he is specialized in blades ;) what do you think?

I've got a character that's a programmer and coffee addict/enthusiast, so I named her Java. Which, first of all, is a programming language. Pretty well-known one, so I was initially against the name, but it's also a reference to a kind of coffee.
