@@Lisazab. No she gets pitchy. Give her time though. And a few lessons. Abi is the best since Kelly imho. I still think Kelly can sing anyone’s music almost better than them. Btw, this arrangement was originally put together by Sara Bareilles.
Have heard this song a zillion times and never knew these were the lyrics until Abi enunciated so clearly.... Congrats on this exquisite performance 👏👏👏
Gosh, I so agree with what Katie's just said: "From day one it's been you... and tonight it's always been you". There's sth about her voice and the emotion she brings up through her singing that is so special and just makes her stand out. To me, this was the best performance of the night! Congratulations Abi!!!
Abi is a natural-she sings like an angel on earth-the purity of her tone, the emotional connection she brings to every song is soul inspiring. Even if she doesn't "win" AI this year (because when there are good country singers on the show (and there are 4 this time around), they tend to take home the prize), she will become a mega superstar. I can't wait to go to one of her sold out concerts!
Abi has such an ethereal, angelic quality to her voice- she takes me to another realm where I find tears rolling down my face. She touches somewhere deep in my heart. I absolutely love her!!!!!!
Incredible control and the way she made the lyrics her story. I'm 62. I've listened to this song a million times, and never have I heard the words like I did now.
Her voice has such incredible depth. It's spiritual, genuine, and touches the soul with a pureness uniquely Abi Carter. Amazing voice, amazing performance.
This was the most amazing rendition of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” that I’ve ever heard! It simply gave me goosebumps. I’ve played this performance multiple times--just breath-taking.
@@kateydog Omg, Sarah's vocals were truly exceptional, and it would have been great if Abi acknowledged her as a source of inspiration. I actually like Sarah’s vocals much better. Thanks a lot for sharing that insight!
@@taszax8984 I enjoyed her performance, too. It's worth acknowledging that Sara Bareilles truly deserves all the praise for crafting this version. I really can't listen to any other version after hearing Sara. I loved that song since a kid, and what Sara created was simply the best.
Chilling. There are so many moments in this song that invoke full body chills, and I fight back the tears. Such an emotional rendition. I can't wait to buy Abi's first album!
Every season there's one performance that's so outstanding you just have to go back and listen to it over and over again. This year it's Abi Carter's rendition of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Simply amazing. Music in its purest form. No excessive (and annoying) runs, no over-singing or compressing the tonal range, just a beautiful conduit for talent to flow and the rest of us to enjoy. All I can say is WOW!
It was highly produced. Maybe even auto-tuned. She had a few flat notes but it didn't detract from the performance in it's entirety. Very Sara Bareilles.
This young lady is truly amazing. As an old person who doesn't have many years left on this earth, I look forward to seeing where she takes that fabulous voice and how she will live her life. I wish her the best in everything.
When ever I am amazed, thrilled, and drawn in by a performance my eyes tear up. When Abi sings, it happens everytime. When I heard her perform what was I made for, it took about 20 time before the tears stopped, these are tears of admiration, of something very rare and special.
This performance made me cry ♥️ just so pure and angelic. Her voice, her just everything is so special. Routing for this girl to win. She’s #1 loved her from day one and forever will. ♥️ she’s my favorite!
I keep coming back to Sarah Bareilles. If you listen to her singing this song, it's on the same level. Abi has so much of the same vocal tones and that is boding well for a long successful career. I hope she wins it all....
It may bode well for a successful career, it may not. How many more Sarah Bareilles types doing the same exact style do we need? She's talented, no doubt. But, she needs an X factor to stand apart and survive in the industry.
Abi just brings me to tears. When she hits those notes, my heart melts & turns into praise to God for making us enjoy such pure clean music for our soul. Katie said it quite perfectly right.
Amazing. She took that song and changed it into an entirely different (and other world) performance. This year there is some amazing talents on American Idol and several exceptional performances. But She is in just in another whole level above everyone else. She will now have a world shattering career, regardless of AI.
Yes-this is actually Sara’s arrangement that Abi tweaked. Elton told Sara he was so impressed with her vocals and arrangement he wanted to sing with her. And they did.
Just her voice and piano held the room and all of us viewers also. Look at the band all of the instruments and back up vocals this girl was the most beautiful instrument on stage. She will be big.
Angelina “borrowed “ that from Sara Bareilles. It’s starting to piss me off that these wonderful contestants who ARE quite talented aren’t giving the original arrangement creator the credit. It almost feels like plagiarism. Take a page from Sydnie Christmas who DID give credit to Loren Allred when she sang Loren’s (and AGT’s) version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow on the recent BGT. And it was worse here (in my imho) because it took a lot of hard work and sweat for Sara to make it--sitting in front of a piano and doing her wonderful arrangement of an Elton John song in Atlanta Georgia about 10 years ago. It was so good she was asked to perform it on PBS. . Abi is just 21-if she didn’t listen to secular music, how did she come up with the song, never mind the arrangement? I think she’s very talented but there’s something disingenuous with her.
@@GraciesMom Thanks for letting me know. I agree it would be nice to give credit for the arrangement, but I don't think every single contestant is obligated to announce every time they get inspiration from another artist and "borrow" their ideas. Because it's a a singing show. There are teams working with the artists every performance who constanttly change arrangements- it's part of the show. Now if they decide to release an official cover on say their own TH-cam channel, then for sure they should give credit, but when singing on the show it feels different to me.
@@gabrielA95-t5o actually, Sara DID! It’s got over 5m likes on TH-cam. EJ thought it was the best cover he had ever heard of one of his songs, so they did sing together for a charity. And Angelina is very good-she’s not my taste but she’s very good. Probably the best contestant to sing Saras arrangement as a contestant, and there have been several. If you’d like, look up Sara Bareilles’ Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and see for yourself how close the arrangements are. She has 2-one with symphonic accompaniment for PBS and one in Atlanta just her…and her piano. (That’s the OG) At the time it was that remarkable. And Sydnie credited her voice teacher, the people at BGT AND Loren. Enough said….I’m just tired of Sara not getting credit. If she was Adele she would. It still feels a bit like plagiarism.

Wow wow wow,!!!when she hit that long note the sound came from another dimension.
I didnt see that coming, and man, it floored me.
It’s Abi and everyone else … she is the best by a wide margin and I think the best contestant since Carrie Underwood.

Amen!
And they had Gene handle her this episode😂
Unfortunately they will!

Def check out The Voice Norway. Their singers are ethereal. This song gets sung a lot on there.
Every sing Abi sings is full of emotion, no back up required, no screaming required. She's the best. ❤
Yes
That's literally what she was doing, screaming, but okay
I don't hear screaming, I hear hitting high notes. Big difference!
Agreed. Screaming is stretching beyond your range and being off-key. She nailed every single second of that performance.
