First, THANK YOU for putting this DIY video together. I’ve had 2 Gheenoe’s since my life. (They last forever and perfect for my type of fishing) As time has past, I’ve noticed more of a need for the trolling motor battery than just the trolling motor and depth finder. I grew up in central Florida, and somehow i associated live bait with losers/those who into catching not fishing. (My apologies to anyone I offended) I was plastic worms and crank baits in the phosphate pits, mirr-o-lures and jigs for snook and redfish along the coast or Everglades. All the above was great when you could go fishing all the time, but living in Atlanta now, if I get 3 weekends a year back to Florida I’m lucky. So, as I’ve gotten older/smarter, I’m going to throw anything to make those 3 days worth the drive. The Gheenoe now is basically powerless. And I have “1st World” problems. I want an Aerator. A USB charger. If things go poorly with the motor and I get stuck after dark, Nav lights. A Manual bilge pump has never been needed. A 44oz cup has gotten me through since the late 1990’s, but if I’m going this far, I’m adding a bilge. You sir nailed what I thought could be possible, but I didn’t know how to get it done. I even made it as far as doing a search for “Smart Battery Box”, but none were exactly what I was looking for. YOU NAILED IT! I don’t care if I have to do this twice. (One Deep Cycle 27 for the trolling motor and depth finder and one smaller Jetski sized battery for the bilge and lights. (Odyssey makes a great battery at this size) Thanks again. And the instructions on how to put it together couldn’t have been easier!
Great video. If you had to do it all over again, is there anything that you would change (ie. larger size battery, larger size box, heavier/lighter gauge wiring, etc). I am looking to add a Watersnake trolling motor to my kayak, so I am looking for ideas on powering it. I am not sure if I want to run two separate batteries - one for the motor and one for the fish finder and accessories.
@big_bone_fishin I see.. I’m just trying to picture it in my head! So you just use the connectors that your trolling motor comes with and fasten it to the two terminals?
I posted in the description all the parts and the Amazon links, you can calculate it from there. This box is specifically for 50ah max, it all depends on how long do you wanna be on the water for and what you’re using it for. I’ve been on the water for close to six hours with my trolling motor and this box and no issues at all.
Hello, I need to build a box for my 12v 200ah battery to power an haswing PROTRUAR BRUSHLESS MOTOR 1.0 12V 50A 600W 65lbs. I was wondering if a 50A circuit breaker would be enough or should i use a 60A instead.. I have also checked the fuse block specs and they max out at 75A is there a fuse block you would recommend me using instead? Thanks in advance for your advise
@@fernando-n3x9l I was use 60ah marine breaker for the fuse block. I would have you would have to do some research on one that could handle that much amperage.
Great video! I'm building the same box with basically all the same components but I am very confused on how you got the 6 fuse relay wired to power on off with the switch. Where did you run the ground to the relay. I cant make it out in your video. Any help on getting my box wired correctly is much appreciated.
So from the positive side of the battery I went to relay. Then from the relay I went to positive side of the 6 way fuse. On the negative side of the battery i went to the negative side of the six way fuse.
@@big_bone_fishin Would it possible to take a close up of the the inside of your box? I tried to pause the video and do this but couldn't see clearly enough. I feel like thats what I did. Sometimes its just easier when you see it. Thanks so much!
@@big_bone_fishin Awesome. Ill message you on backend. I did just notice that you have a double blue wire coming off what looks like the gold terminal of the on/off switch? That maybe where Im going wrong. Im using standard black and red so yoir m wire color is throwing me off. So your blue color is ground and white is positive? Sorry electrical wiring is not my strong suit obviously lol
Great videa. Helped me with some ideas for mine as well as wondering about that switch, I tried both ways around but I'm going to do exactly what you did. The one I bought a while back didn't come with any instructions or documentation.
Amazing, let me know how it works out for you. The three prong switch can be tricky. I had to do some testing as well as the colours on the prongs throw you off. Good luck
@@tvhomesdotca7429 all depends if you get the same battery. Parts and everything cast me around $300 and something including the battery . All through Amazon. Sometimes you have to wait for items to go on sale.
Oh wow. I put the 50ah and looks like Amazon stop selling the 50ah replaced it with the 100ah thanks for bringing this up. Your right the 100ah won’t fit, the 50ah max for this box.
You did something no other DIY video has done. You hooked your battery charger up to your new box and showed your battery taking a charge. Good job.
Great diy video. Exactly the setup I had in mind and appreciate the detailed wiring walk-through.
Awesome video! Battery boxes become an addiction once you start making them!
I know and then you try to find ways to keep on upgrading.

Thanks for the video dude! How exactly does the trolling motor connect to the battery?
@@m1nmaxin right to the battery terminals on top of the box

Very good job. Are you powering a trolling motor if so what and dhat are you pushing?
Thanks
I’m powering a 30lbs troller
That’s for the tutorial! What was the total cost with and without battery? Is 50 ah enough? I’m debating between 50 and 100. Thanks!

Just made the double wire (ground) from the gold. Still doesn't work. Im at a loss until I see a picture.
How do you secure the circuit breaker etc...? Or are they just sitting on the top of the battery loose?
I used doubled sided tape to secure it to the battery

can that battery charger use the power port in the vehicle?
Never tested it that way.

What should I use for the next video?
@@big_bone_fishin anything but that high pitched squeaky vocals
U say 4gauge wire but you linked 8 gauge wire....i hope 8g works from battery bc thats what i got lol
And we must always play the filler music at twice the volume of one's voice :(
Great observation. I will look at that for the next video.
