    Because of this man and his hardwork, I no longer need to depend on annoying image downloads to get the best out of my handhelds. We are very fortunate to have someone kind of enough to take time out in showing how to use our devices. Thank you so much Retro Game Corp!!

      Maybe it's over simplification, you can see that his own video contradicts what he says about integer scaling on NES, it's not a conincidence that he swicthed from showing up Castlevania to Mega Man to make his point about integer scaling

    You were right about the integer scaling! It does make the games look better even if the screen space gets reduced some games I cannot unsee it lol after watching both the 1st part and 2nd part I managed to set up my RG351V!! :D Thank you! I don't have another sd card to put on a different software so I'm gonna make a backup copy and then try ArkOs :D that will be the next review I watch but for now I got one of my systems on there and I can play that in the meantime :D as someone with a brain injury and learning disabilities your guides made this possible :) big thumbs up from me.

    for me the best handheld to date!!!
    i just love this little gadget so much :)
    the handling is just perfect. the display is also a stunner!
    up to and including PSX, everything runs perfectly and without any problems. Especially things like SNES , GBA , GB , GBC , FBN , MAME , Mega Drive look just sexy and razor sharp with a filter!
    But what I love most is the Vertical form factor! I also have horizontal handhelds, but to be honest, I'm nowhere near as happy with them as I am with the RG351V!!!
    I can really recommend this thing to everyone!

    For screen configuration in RA, I definitely recommend giving the "sharp-bilinear-simple" shader a shot! It does an integer scale followed by a bilinear for the rest, giving a fairly sharp image without any distortion. I don't have a 351v, but that shader gives me some fantastic results on my 351p, so much so that I ended up preferring it to RGA scaling

  • @DenkyManner
    @DenkyManner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    A side effect of non-integer scaling is pixel shimmer when the screen scrolls. It's caused by pixels changing size as they move in and out of being the wrong width or height. You can fix this by using interpolation which filters the image without making it blurry. You can do this in Retroarch using shaders. I can only vouch for how well this works on a full HD Android tablet. On a lower resolution screen the effect may not be as nice, but maybe it is, I have no way to test it.

    I got this thing in the mail the other day and I freaking love it. I was just sitting there trying it out and ended up playing Silent Hill for quite a while. I really prefer this style over my 350m. I've always had a thing for OG gameboys though so maybe thats why. The screen is gorgeous and I really like the little case it came with. It's just crazy that I'd much rather play Mario on this over my switch. Can't wait to see how to possibly improve this console in the future, cuz this is the one i'll be playing for a while.

    Great guide as usual! I'd be curious to know if you've messed with shaders, especially for handheld systems. I've been trying to replicate my RG351P setup, but I found that all crt / lcd shaders don't play nice on the RG351V. Maybe it has to do with screen rotation code? I actually have pretty much the same issues on the Retroid Pocket 2...

  • @ZeoniaSD
    @ZeoniaSD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The information presented in this video about integer scaling is incorrect for the systems used in the example. Both the NES and SNES (shown here) have an internal resolution of 256×224, which is actually 8:7 not 4:3, which is why, as you can see in your magnified LCD display side-by-sides have lines with more pixels than others. If you want true 1:1 pixel scaling on NES and SNES pick integer scaling ant 8:7 ratio. That'll also reduce pixel-shimmering.

    • @tristanheron4144
      @tristanheron4144 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can clearly see this on the life bar and the black border of Mega Man that there are some 3 pixel vertical lines. It has integer scaled 2x vertically by clicking the integer scale option on, but the aspect ratio set to 4:3 has messed up the horizontal scaling. Setting to 8:7 would fix it. You can also set the aspect ratio to 1:1 PAR so that any system will be perfectly integer scaled without needing to know the pixel perfect aspect ratio.
      It might be worth addressing this in a future video Russ.

    Thanks for the guide ... that will come in handy :). Hopefully my RG351V will arrive on Friday. I like the default EmuElec Firmware from Anbernic (But i will clean the roms from the second micro SD-card and use only games that i own). I mainly want to play my games from my old Gameboy and NES. So are there any advantages to use 351elec or ArcOS other then better optimizations for Dreamcast and N64? I don't plan on getting my Dreamcast games onto that device yet but i might try to get them from the old CDs :D down the road.
    i ordered some additional SD cards so i might check out 351elec Reborn too. Maybe its new/improved Dreamcast emulator might spark more interest for Dreamcast in me when it is available for the RG351V too.

    Hey, new name same Barry here.. love the vids man.. on the 351v, and thank you for the stock rom tutorial, the clear black one, which is the one I got, would have been way better if it was matte black or something and not clear..
    I'm going to get another 351v, only for the 1 thing I don't like about the clear one.. when playing it in the dark, the lights that illuminate the screen can be seen around the screen, a bit annoying.. and the activity light on the board under the label, freaks me out, blinking all the time..
    And sad about ArkOS not updating after the next update, but it will have 351v support so I'm happy. Or I'll have to get used to 351elec.

    How easy is it to configurate the time zone, I have a 351M, plated for about a day a good day, so it's very new to me. But now there's a bunch of text shows up that says fail for the time zone. I could play a lot of games but like I was following you with Mame 1943 game to make a sharper or whatever lol, then I noticed those texts were popping up on the screen then a white box in the middle of the screen telling me 27% of retroarc for Roms core ect ..

    Hi Russ, i got this problem, i can only go to the quick menu while in-game only once or twice and then it stopped working altogether, everything else works except for the "Menu toggle gamepad combo" no matter how i set and save the configuration, it just doesnt work :(

    Are Blades of Steel and Tecmo Bowl included in the NES and Gameboy bundle of games? Thanks.

      Hi, I don't think they are. The pre-loaded games are usually Asian-centric releases, and often poorly organized. It's better to load them yourself, which I show you how to do in part one of these starter guide.

    I cant get Neo Geo CD to work. It works on my RG351P and I've got all the bios but when I run it on my RG351V I just get a black screen.
