  • Taking the Scrambler in to Billy's Motorcycles to replace a worn out front tyre, ended up needing the rear doing too. In the workshop, they discovered the valve on my front inner tube was dangerously rusted on the inside. Luckily it was holding together and didn't blow up on me.

Hate to be a party pooper here, there is no PR6 - It's called the Road 6. "Pilot" was dropped after the 4! The rust issue was caused due to incorrect
installation of the tube - both nuts should be on the outside (one nut in, one nut out caused water ingress). Glad you liked the Anakee Roads, would be interested in a review on them after 5k miles. Also consider the Anakee Adventure, they'd look great on you bike :)

I hadn't actually noticed they dropped the word "Pilot" from the name haha.
Not sure if the front tyre was the original or not, if so that would have been done at factory or final assembly at the dealership.
I'll be sure to do a follow-up on how the Anakee's are doing after 5k

A few years ago I needed a rear tyre in a hurry for going to france on the 600. Only place was Cambridge - they only had a Conti 'something' Attack - so I took it. Great tyre !
But a tad soft compound. So several months later, coming back from giving a buddy a lift on the A10, there was thread showing ! I might have exceeded the speed limit on one or two occasions on the way home......
Got back and nearly shat my pants when I saw it........
As an aside, Metzeler touring tyres are shit. Dawn's Street Twin came with a set. Replaced with (Bridgestones?). Transformed the bike. I had a buddy in 1988 with Metzelers on a 70's Z650. He got rid of them too. Same tyre pattern, same rubber. Same grip. So you've had them for 6 years. That's becaue they are made of Bakelite. They never wear out. They never grip either.
Sod that for a lark !
Top tips lads. When you get new tyres, spray brake cleaner on kitchen roll and give them a wipe. Just sayin'.

      Yikes!
I’ve just got back from a trip up to Yorkshire on the new tyres, they were brilliant, so far so good.
