Was thrilled when I discovered this show on public cable access in Santa Monica in the late 80's. My friend at the Groundlings started working on a character based on Skip. Years later Martin Short obviously used some of Skip's mannerisms and such to create Jimmy Glick.
Do you know if Skip's show was supposed to be funny? It's inspired some very funny shows, and it's hard to tell if this interview is unintentionally hilarious, or if Skip knew what he was doing.
Sad to think that all three are gone. Tierney played Elaine's father on Seinfeld, a one-episode appearance as the crew and cast found him very difficult to work with.
Lawrence is not too happy. I think Skip was driving him nuts as he does not let his guests finish their sentences. But thank God he did all these interviews. Thanks Skippy.
Yes, indeed. He’s fun, but he also quite possibly the worst interviewer of all time. He commits every interview faux pas in the book. He constantly interrupts and rarely gets any facts right. But he clearly adored doing these shows, and he really had some terrific guests throughout the years.
The title refers to "Laurence Tierney". His first name was actually Lawrence. Also, why did you completely leave out Nedra Volz's first name from the title? Check your facts before you post this shit - you're nearly as sloppy with the facts as Skip was.
Tierney has great presence. He's tough, and gruff, and REAL. No falsehoods.

Lawrence Tierney is just like the character he portrayed in Reservoir Dogs. You don’t screw around with him and Skip was crossing the line.

I like the way Tierney handled and controlled Skip's ridiculousness. Skip is fun, but can be frustrating and quite awful at times.
