- So I just got back from being up north and Brian had an electrical fire on his John Deere 9620RX tractor... So I guess we ll use Donovans tractor to help him finish, as I am done already.

Thank you Brian for spending a little time with us
Thanks to both of you. Brain for allowing us a little camera time and Mike for being respectful to the situation and not running in and sticking the phone in everyone's faces asking to many obvious questions. A breakdown like that is a big deal and it's good to see you both dealing with it and moving on. Minor blessing maybe, Brian got to try the red brand and spend some time with his brother :)
There is always a silver lining when something bad happens. A tractor fire during harvest would be devastating, especially when harvesting canola. It is better this happened during seeding when there is nothing to burn. Now, his tractor will be fully repaired and in good running order come harvest.
We all wish you and your farming family the best Mike, thank you all for helping to feed the world.
Thank you for showing the people out there how we real Canadians help our friends and show compassion. Good on yea Mike. 👌🏻
Dude, that´s how farmers work! You always help out your neighbour, and the next time they will help you. Season work is stressful enough if you couldn´t count on your friends to help out in times of need.
I don't blame Brian for not wanting to be video it would suck having almost lost his tractor. At least it wasn't as bad as it could of been. Example ideal combine
True story
It sucks his tractor catching fire but at no one was hurt this ole equipment can be replaced but it does make you sick as a dog seeing your stuff burned and people don’t realize how much money it will cost just to replace some parts Mike you putting him in that case he might go to red lol I like Massey but anymore it doesn’t matter what matter is service and parts availability and what type of people they are you all stay safe and keep the good videos coming
Glad Brian was able to save the Deere and spend a little time with the TH-cam Family. It’s always nice to have a spare to help out when needed. Thanks for the Videos, Mike.
Hopefully the john deere isn't too expensive to fix, good to see and hear from Brian again. Actually, it is nice when the 2 brothers talk and share their thoughts. Happy seeding!
John Deere not too expensive to fix? You obviously never owned a John expensive, depending on how much damage was caused by the fire it is not going to be cheap and could easily be nasty. However on the bright side it looks like they are going to have a harvest this season and with the size of their operations it will pay for an awful lot of repairs or a few new machines.
john deeres are always expensive to fix... ask me how i know.
@Andy-ix2ox yep, I owned john deere's.
@@danadams8718 I still own them but I am enough of a realist to know that they are not the only or for a lot of applications the best machines for the job, I was just at the highland show in Scotland and I am seriously considering buying one of the new 6M185 to replace a mf 7718S that needs to be moved on but it will be decided on cost and not colour, I realised decades ago that none of the brands value my loyalty so I decided I was never gonna buy a brand, I was going to buy a product and it has been a pretty good stance from the point of view of value for money ever since. None of them are cheap to repair but I find that JD are inclined to really take the p€&s when it comes to parts, anyway in comparison to the Mitchell’s operation we are only Micky Mouse operators but I suspect most people would feel the same.
Great awesome video Mike , good respectful brotherhood
I had John Deere tractors my whole life and our big case tractors out pull out perform our deers to the point where we have no more Deere large frame tractors. The case pulls harder with less power. Better transmission less fuel burned just but I have not driven the new Deere large frames yet. Hopefully we will soon.
Never have i ever heard something similar from any big farms, Deere has the absolute market on europe on big frame tractors for a reason and the biggest farms on the world also, dont know about what generations you are talking about but in terms of pulling Deere has the monopoly since the release of the PowerShift and 00 series tractors in the late 90's
@@yester8039 good for you. That’s what we use on our 7000 acre farm and that’s what we found.
I see a lot of Quadtrac,s on the big farms in Eastern Europe…
But I agree not so many Magnum’s as r8 Deere’s.
Fendt 9, 10 series are also very popular.
@@yester8039 Why does being the market leader in general tractor market mean to build the best large 4WD or Quad tracked tractors? For many years Deere even did not have a competitor to the Quadtrac so I would suggest there are much more red quad tracked tractors out there than green.
Furthermore Mike mentioned in the past that the gearbox of the 9R(X) is absolutely no competition to the Steigers because it shifts so bad and slow. And the 9620 RX was not able to pull the Bourgault better than a Fendt 1167 with CVT. The 9RX also lost the Protill drag race against the Fendt, also the Fendt has 50 hP less.
@@melvd3484 im not talking only articulated, the 8r series JD just blows out of the water any big row crop tractor while even fendt has surpased CASE and NH in recent years, the quad tract is probably CASE's best product but still will be outperformed with the new 9 series JD with thr 900 hp engines
So it was fate that Brian was wearing a red sweatshirt.....
Hopefully Brian's tractor is an easy fix and it's back on the go again. Nice to hear you're finally getting some moisture down there. Thanks for letting us ride along Brian.
he (Bryan) just wanted to be allowed to try the red one, so he had to find an excuse. it might be a bit of a stretch to try to burn your tractor off, but still.
Nice to see that you and your brother are always willing to help each other out mike good job
Good to see Brian slowly comeing around to the camra Mike. Now you need to get Terry on board. Also Im happy that you were able to save the 9RX
Glad the new red didn't burn, very sad to hear that the green one did. Best of luck in the future
Thank you Brian for having some video time with Mike hopefully we can get more videos like this one minus the tractor part I’m sorry that happened it’s one of my biggest fears when running equipment especially balers
Imagine if you still had the 1050 with moisture in the ground. The struggle bus would have been a long ride
I think it's really cool how well you guys get along.
Nice to see Brian in your video Mike
Bummer for Brian . And it wasn't even deer hunting season. Nice licorice pointer Mike.
In other words Case saves the day 😂
Tip for a cheap solution for lighting at night you can carry a few strong magnetic battery powered led lights in a tool which you can stick onto metallic parts if you need to work at nights and just take on and off as needed be
Big red to the rescue
Great Job Guys ! 👍
Insurance companies like to lend out umbrellas when it’s sunny, and snatch them back as soon as it pisses it down.
Good to actually see one of your brothers, even if it wasn't up close, I was wondering if you just pretended to have them lol
Great video Mike
This Unit has quite a light package.
Classic moment of my life watching an insurance man inspecting a tractor after a fire. BMW suit and tie didn’t go well, fire was put out with slurry tanker.
im still putting my cash on Fendt all the way sir! quite fast confortable
How about them Oilers Mike!!!!
Go Edmonton!!!!!!
Congrats on living the dream of every young tractor enthusiast around the world! P.S That Case is a beautiful machine. Have you ever tried pulling a 2500 bushel grain cart with it?
I was baling hay at night and the lights turned blue. After a few frantic minutes everything turned out fine
Turns out one of the bearings went out and caught the dry hay on fire
Magnifique vidéo et les tracteur et les grands semoirs sont bien et la nuit est bien 😂😮😅😊
I never realized how much your brother Brian and you sound alike and look alike
Wow that set up is hudge
Had the same tractor jd that the engine caught fire and almost lost the whole tractor 🚜🚜🚜 but was lucky had 2 extinguisher on me
Much better than half a flask of warm coffee.😢
Well, that's sucky situation. Even tho there is damage and delay on the whole production,i'm still glad that it was not worse, which could've ended in catastrophe.
I swear I remember seeing a combined fire on this channel
0:40 “We’ll go test the waters here” Funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time 🤣
We call it side dressing down here in Indiana
Mike we need more brother content
Red power- noisier and rougher= working. John Deere- quieter and smoother= not moving.😁
That's part of farming
Morning
Catching firrs part of life in the grain biz...
Staying safe #1..
Instant sell of used equipment huge bounus (what!) Ive heard a couple farmers say if that yhing catches fire anyone who puts it out is fired!, ?) That thing just got SOLD!!!!
Go to town and get a Steak?
Purple instead of blue paint on the screen? Cool colour!!!
Small LED STRIP LIGHTS
We use 28 0 0 I call it I'm out doing our double shoot
Mike - with JD beginning to offer electric drives (8RX410), which makes surplus energy available (I think 100kw) for trailing implements, will that transform your cart from a dead-weight into a traction assister?
Can you expand on what you mean by “the tractor is not factory”? I also will understand if you don’t want to explain it here.
Brian i am sorry your tractor almost burned .
Tony Fast put lights on his seeder. Ask him where he got them!
👍
He needs lights. Air coming out doesn't mean there isn't an 80% blockage upstream in the system keeping product from going in the ground. I hope his fire damage was too serious.
And the fuel consumption comparison is??????
Going to turn the bros into RED
Put the new 9rx on it see what pulls better I rest my case and the new case too
These things happen,,just have to deal with them.
Any fire on equipment will scare the living daylights out of you!!!!!😢
What's with the alternator burning up?
👍👍👍
Hi Mike. Because you are running at 1600 rpm’s and tge Deere is running 1800 rpm’s. How much fuel are you saving?
200rpm over the course of a seasons is a lotta revolutions of the crank 🤔
👋😊
Try 6.5 psi ! Not joking !
Red to the rescue 😂 I guess Green does not mean Go 😂Classic stuff
I love John Deere but it seems to have a problem with fires for some reason
Do u think he would consider a red tractor in his future ???
how about that left side exhaust stack brian that blocks so much visibility, pos visibility to me
Dif your brother put down liquid fertilizer at one time? I see it's set up for it.
"How's the red one?" Well it runs, so there is that.
Do you have any plans to try a new Deere 9RX 830?
Those John Deere tractors just eat alternators.
In the USA, why not many farmers use that kind of seeders?
Yep that’s jd expensive turds
So this is mikes tractor that Donovan seeded with all spring and Mike was using Ashton’s tractor all spring
Do you think it would be at all possible to seed with a drill that big without GPS?
But did he take his shoes off
instink what keeps you moving when your that tired
instink.......😂
All made by Stieger just different paint.
Wait what?
I don’t know where you got idea from😂
Why if you farm together do you have your own equipment
How far are your farms apart? Hours or miles?
Who else yawned with mike ?
Is it me or is the red tractor more reliable than the green tractors ? The red tractor blew a rad hose but what else ?
The green ones always try to change colour :(
A old farmer friend Ellwood Graham (dairy) told his son & I,,,,,fellas if it has teats or burns fuel,,,,,it's going to cause you grief,,,,,Man is he right...OLD.ABB
Sad part is, no matter what insurance you have, you lost money
The john deer might have been to small for what was behind the tractor
The Deere is more powerful machine out of the two and was up there with the most powerful tractor when the drill was designed so if anything can pull it it’s that Deere.
And the Case is lower horsepower too.
@@autobootpilootno the case ih is more horsepower. It’s tuned to 680 or 700. I don’t remember which
@@clearskiesranch1362 Mike has said that John Deere has been tuned and has the same power as the Case
@@clearskiesranch1362 it’s not really relevant in this case. The frame and traction (weight) dictate if you’re able to pull the drill. Any tractor can spin its wheels in the lowest gear so more horsepower only means you can pull it faster.
@@autobootpilootobviously. Thats not the point I was making.
Do you make your brother take his shoes off
Is Brian his brother ?
Yes. Mike has a big family. Got like 4-5 brothers. Not sure how many sisters if any I’m sure he has some. But I do know he has a big family and a few brothers.
@@TravisTheDriver
He has two brothers, Brian and Terry, ..... never heard of any sisters.
Do the screens have a dark or nighttime mode ?
Yes
Imagine if normal people could experience getting in their car to go to work and almost every single day something broke down or caught on fire or spewed fuel/fluid/chemicals on them. Do you think they'd appreciate what it takes to grow food a little more? I get less angry about breakdowns with age, but I wouldn't want to be on camera either.
Not to mention go to work in the morning and still be there at 2 am.
Best comment ever.
Nothing runs like a Deere , except the red tractor, which runs better than a deer because it’s not broke down!
They all break down.
Get a Claas.
I Will break down? All colors do.
@@terrybraun4175 lol 😂 without a Claas, yes you will break down.
There's a difference between minor breakdowns and major breakdowns.
Go to bed boys
you need to buy some USB chargable head lamps for keeping in the tractors.
I said it multiple times and I'll say it again junk deere
good afternoon, don't you need tractor drivers?
Way to go Brian! Now every TH-cam keyboard farmer will tell all real TH-cam farmers that John Deere is junk because they're a tinder box.
Nah they are junk if they ain't broke they are burning
You mean like they did with the Ideal? That combine burned and they had their share of problems but those combines have come a long way since they had them. They are not junk.
And by the way, the RX is not junk either. There's not much junk made in the world today. But there is some!
@@terrybraun4175 Like all of them, there is r&d involved before production, then there is real life testing. I think Mike does a good job of that ! No bias, just honest truth. If the companies don't get honest feedback, Ernie and Bert would still be the newest design tractors on the farm!
They were all saying that a Deere was better when Mike popped a hose. Truth is they all break down
Why not stuff happens to man made stuff so why is he mad
Because it’s his tractor and watching something you make your livelihood with burn is upsetting?
