- If you're a basketball sicko... this pod is for you. Today we welcome back one of our favorite guests, ESPN analyst Tim Legler, to talk about what we've learned from this unforgettable season of NBA basketball. Topics include: Why Nikola Jokic and The Denver Nuggets are the clear favorites in The Western Conference, what makes The West the most unpredictable conference Tim has ever seen heading into the playoffs, what makes Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul and The Phoenix Suns still so scary in the playoffs, how Kevin Durant is the easiest "plug-and-play" guy in the league, what's happened to Jayson Tatum and The Boston Celtics this year, who in The Eastern Conference are tier one contenders, why Tim has a hard time fully believing in James Harden and The Philadelphia 76ers, Tim admits he was as wrong as he's ever been about the ceiling of Jalen Brunson, realistic expectations for The New York Knicks and The Cleveland Cavaliers, why The Miami Heat have been such a disappointment (and still might be the biggest sleeper in The East), Tim reveals exactly why he's picking Joel Embiid as his MVP this season and so much more. Enjoy the show!

With Tim Legler on, It really is the Old Man and The Three
you gotta pin this comment
Lmao
lmao🤣🤣🤣
The Old Men and the Three
Yeah tommy, you old fart
There’s not a better duo then JJ and Legler to talk about basketball. They are both so knowledgeable about the game.
The living basketball embodiment of that spider man meme!
both great🗣️
🤔
I'll take legler, jj a company man
Seriously, he should have an almost weekly rotation.
Finally some real basketball talk between two guys who love and understand basketball.
Literally all of JJs videos… that’s the whole point of his podcast lmfaoo. 151 eps of it💀💀💀💀
Check out thinking basketball channel. Agreed JJ is amazing tho. Thinking basketball is really really good too tho.
This is basketball heaven. Thanks Tim and JJ
💯Only real IQ fans understand
This has to become a regular thing. ESPN is missing a gold mine. I would watch every episode.
If it was on espn they would be forced to argue and yell at each about stuff they agree on 😂
ESPN would have to have the obligatory female presenter, with too much make up and looking like a borderline sex worker who never seems to add any value, plus 2 men who just want to trash one team/player with their "hot takes" and try and out wit the other with some ludicrous childlike out downs and as a basketball fan....I'm sick of that formula and it turns my stomach! It's time to kick some of these fools off our screens and have more purist conversations like this. Absolutely loving this content !
Espn would control what they say on TV nah
Jj said it at the beginning. "Finally, we can talk some basketball" 😂 lol basically saying they have never done that at ESPN
Appreciate you checking the episode out.. Subscribe if you haven't and enjoy this pure unadulterated basketball nerd out session with Tim Legler.
JJ love the material and the knowledge. You should put timestamps on your videos or videos like these that going in depth different topics. This was great!!
another great one✍️
Legler and JJ are the best analysts in the NBA. Could listen to you guys break down the game for hours on end. 👌🏀
Timestamps?
We need a JJ and TL segment every week or two weeks man. This is elite basketball talk.
Absolutely
Love Tim Legler as an analyst and I love that he hates Skip Bayless
He’s like the complete opposite of Skip. Just good accurate ball analysis not biased ridiculous hot takes for views
I would love it more if he mentioned that he hated Nick Wrong too...
@@Gypsywasteland he said that?
@@wchan6755 agreed that guys a tool
Hatred is not a good thing….
You two need to do this more. It was nice and informative. No yelling, no arguing, no tearing guys down, or putting out hot takes for the sake of having a hot take. Just talking basketball and what’s been going on in the league.
Tim Legler is so underatted if you like basketball talk instead of whatever the rest espn does.
I gotta Give Tim legler his flowers this man is really my favorite espn analyst and should've had his own show because he talks hoops he doesn't dive into players personal lives he just talks hoops and he understands the game
🎉 for Tim
I've seen like 50 or so episodes. Of those, Legler's last interview was absolutely my favorite. Got some real game talk, got some brotherhood, I loved it. It was perfection. Can't wait to get through this one!
JJ your podcast -- led by your analytic, critically thinking, and coherent mind combined with Legs' GOAT status, in terms of basketball analysis makes this easily the best series on your channel. Your analysis and Legs' perspectives on the details of what makes the NBA great, is an antidote to the sensationalised media landscape full of thoughtless binary analysis, endless GOAT-debates, and journalists who believe saying things louder and with more conviction means they are correct. Thoughtful analysis and cordial conversation works because you and Legs have a deep founded respect for one another backed up by your brilliant minds. Thank you for providing hoop-heads this valuable content, but also for showing the younger generation that you can focus on facts, eloquence, thoughtful wording, and passion for the game and avoid attacking the person in front of you to get your point across.
Cough Perk
really well said👏
Legler is a real insider and knows what he is talking about. Always like hearing him give his takes and insight 🚀
The overwhelmingly positive response to this episode in the comment section says all you need to know, JJ and Tommy. Keep it up!
Legs and JJ in one pod is always an event. Love the content, gents! Legs a real one for asking JJ about Duncan too.
I'm glad they spent some time to talk about Duncan Robinson. I've had these same questions about him on why he hasn't been playing after his new contract. I hope he finds his rhythm and his spot back in the rotation.
If he was a decent defender, i think he would have had a lot more chances even if his shooting was struggling a bit.
Tim legler is the perfect pod guest man
Now this is a great episode. Pure basketball analysis and fair takes!!! :D
Leave the dumb ones for First Take
Tim Legler is one of the best NBA Analysts on the Planet. I always respect his knowledge and take on the NBA. He’s a real 1. 💯
Legs is probably the best analyst in the biz - he and Greg Anthony are severely underrated on how they see and evaluate the game- love when guys talks hoops
Tim Legler is by far the best analyst...love listening to him...
Loved this Pod!! This needs to be a regular show. Sound logic, analytical break downs and mostly not rely on hot takes! This is 🔥
So good to hear 2 true experts who SPEAK basketball at a high level with no screaming, yelling or talking over each other. These guys have great insight. There's no other analyst I love listening to more than Tim Legler, plus is basketball journey is a great story.Keep doing your thing guys." Legs" needs to be on weekly.
SO refreshing hearing intelligent basketball talk. Hope they do this way more often
Leave Kendrick Perkins on the Bench where he belongs
Two of the absolute best! Love y’all man, you guys don’t ever get into crazy narratives you keep it strictly to analyzing hoops, a true hoppers podcast fr.
30 mins in and they haven't brought up the Lakers. And when they brought up contenders they didn't think they are part of the conversation. This is a true basketball podcast.
I really respect this guy as an analyst. Super professional, knowledgeable and objective.
Tim's answer to the Heat being a disappointment this season by adding another team to the topic was such a wise and smart answer it's definitely something to learn. By adding the other team, he diverted the question from being too direct and thus didn't point out any personal opinion to it, which would have otherwise done so. Beautifully answered, Tim Legler is a really smart man.
Legs is the best of the best. Can’t wait to watch this one later
another strong guest. Legs way of explaining complicated (to us who do not know pro basketball details) intricacies on basketball court is wonderful. JJ is getting there when it comes to explaining things, asking right questions and I was surprised I heard him commentating the game the other night. great work!
No BS narratives , no agenda pushing, no biased analysis, just pure hoops talk. I would watch JJ and Legs talk ball all day. And S/O to Tommy for being great in his role on the pod.
3:45 Tim Called it
PG's injury is so rough 😥 would've been awesome to see the Clippers healthy. I'm pulling for the Warriors. It'd be wild if they went deep
Strong agree re PG injury
if the Warriors catch fire and start winning with confidence on the road, the league is toast
as basketball becomes more & more popular, it becomes more accessible to casual/hot takes & opinions. dialogue like this restores my faith in the sport and keeps me engaged as a purist. easily my 2 favorite talking heads in media that analyze & dissect the game without over complicating it or being controversial for attention.
We need more of these, just basketball talk episodes
This is high-level basketball content. That’s all we’re asking for @espn. It’s not rocket science.
Legler the best nba analyst been that way for years
Wow that's a amazing podcast !
So insightful! Love Tim Legler!
Im glad this actually came out after the Celtics game vs the Kings. They did exactly what Legler said they needed to get back to. Hopefully they get back on track in terms of style, pace, intensity and ball movement. Obv it was against a very tired (2nd night of back-to-back) Kings team. But stylistically the Celtics went back to how they’re supposed to play on both ends n I hope it continues.
Kings are an awful defense lmao
@@amino2311 scheduled loss
Celtics looked fantastic last night
Kings missed Huerter's shooting and efficient shot creation yesterday. They would've been much better with him there. They wouldn't have struggled to score yesterday and kept the game close and maybe, just maybe win the game. Huerter's so underrated. They'll be so good again once they get him back for sure. My second favorite team in the NBA
@@amino2311 ik. But that doesn’t take away from the point that Celtics went back to playing the style that they should.
lets gooo finally a new pod is out !
Denver has won 3 in a row since this recording, Nets/Bucks/Sixers. Best TEAM in the west
I think I just fell in love with legs.…. Had flashbacks of the 90s and early 2000s sports center.
All we need is him and Stuart Scott together again rip stu
BRING LEGLER BACK IN THE PLAYOFFS ‼️‼️
If tim legler was on TV more I'd actually watch espn on a regular basis
Tim legler is the greatest basketball mind on the planet today imo
Legler take on the midrange being a shot a great player can always get was mind blowing for some reason. So true. Damn suns are dangerous. And bucks too. Playoffs gonna be 🔥
This popped into my recommended videos and I couldn’t click it fast enough. Excellent content.
1:14:53 Legler picks Embiid as his MVP, said before that he is fairly confident he won't change his mind. Picks Jokic 2nd. 1:21:53 JJ picks Embiid. Both say they had Jokic before Denver's slump. JJ says he has changed his mind a lot.
a slump? of 4 losses? that is not really a slump...
When the mvp race is as close as it is, a 4 game losing streak in march for the mvp front runner is a slump. Especially when embiid is putting up 40/15/5 and his team is on a 9 game win streak. It’s nitpicking but it’s necessary.
I think Giannis has an outside shot. People are sleeping on his season, probably because of the three candidates he's missed the most games.
Everybody likes “Legs”🏀😎👍🏽
Agree 100% on the Celtics analysis. It's so painful when Tatum is having an off night, JB has 38 points... and they will still go to a Tatum turnaround fadeaway to lose a 1pt game. Feels like it's happened so many times this season. He is a top level talent but so is Jaylen Brown, they need to utilize their entire roster to find that team success from early in the year. Also, as much as Robert Williams is not an all-NBA type of guy, his value to that team is almost unbelievable... with the defense, rebounds, and easy lob passes - there is no replacement when he's not there to play for them.
I could listen to these two talk about basketball all day!!!!
Two NBA analysts that actually ANALYZE NBA basketball lol. Love to see it and looking forward to watching 🎉
Really wish this was a regular thing either here or a segment on ESPN bc hearing these guys talk ball is so refreshing
It's insane how good the Bucks have been and they still get disrespected. The media clearly has favorites.
Thankfully
Tim is the man loved this whole thing
This is too good!! More Legs & JJ please!
Stoked on this. The last Legler episode is one of my favorite!
JJ and Tim go so good together 🔥🔥🔥🔥…honest, funny, not screaming over each other…just fair points and rebuttal..I miss that 😢
Really enjoyed the show enjoy professional break downs like this
JJ will ens up having the best basketball podcast in the next year or so...hands down best conversations with the best guests. Just pure basketball
Tim! Great job man, really enjoyed it. Miss you my friend. Hopefully see you this summer
You just know what you're getting with Legs and JJ...and it's awesome.
Loved this ep last year cant wait for this one
I already know that this is going to be one of the best episodes.
Man I needed this today!!!
gotta say this podcast is amazing, there've been times where i have disagreed with some your take but for the most part i really do love the podcast. keep up the good work you guys are doing an amazing job
Love listening basketball talk without the hot takes. A great podcast with two good hoopers without the BS.
When talking about the list of players to make a great impact in first season. I think Lauri on the Jazz deserves a shout. Great topic to talk about
Legler on I’m watching ! Love his views
It’s funny Tim ask the question about Cleveland late game depth and Okoro hits a game winning three yesterday
He was the guy I was thinking of during that conversation. He is an efficient, is 22 years old and improving.
If they have any chance of beating the top 3 in the East they'll need a lot from Okoro/Levert/Osman
JJ and Legler is pure joy to listen
When the name Legs & JJ are on the title of a YT video, instantly watching! Love it!
Tim is a proper gent. Knowledgable, incisive, nice dude. Love listening to him break stuff down.
Wouldn’t mind a weekly podcast from these two! 🤞
As a Heat fan, I was so glad you guys touched on the Duncan Robinson stuff and Miami. I understand that the current lineup wants to focus on defense but it’s mind blowing how they haven’t even put him on for the threes
Because he can't make a shot. So he is useless
@@HK-sd1mr yeah JJ pretty much said so my guy. But it’s mind blogging how it went down. Why pay a guy 18mil and then completely bench him in the playoffs, after he shot 8/9 from 3 vs Atlanta, and him having been a starter for the entire season in the 1 seed in the East?? It’s hard to get behind that especially how stale Miami’s offense can look when their 3s aren’t falling and the other team just packs the paint
Huge W love the podcast been here for 151 episodes
i came to listen Tim's take on Bucks, JJ was like "we will come to bucks in a sec" multiple times, But never really talked about Bucks for more than a min ( yes i heard "Bucks has Bobby can get 12 points and 6 boards in a quarter" that part), they spent like 5 mins talk about how useless Duncan Robinson is and his 17 millions contract. the disrespect from JJ to Bucks is real !!!!
They also talked about Kris Middleton when they were talking about the mid range. The bucks are the bucks, there's not a lot of "what if" to talk about.
Honestly, Legler is the best analyst out there hands down. I can listen to JJ and Legler talk ball for hours on end, please do more of this, amazing 😊
Legler is definitely bone of the best
My goodness, someone who actually follows the game and understands it, this is real BBall talk.
If you want pure entertainment with some basket ball talk, Inside The NBA is your show ( and I LOVE the show), but if you want PURE basketball talk with no nonsense or extra frills.J.J and " Legs" are the BEST by far. Thanks guys for making my hour drive quick and effortless.
For me, when it comes to the Sixers, it’s all about the non Joel minutes. Offensively James has been doing a great job this year of looking to score and playmaking for the bench guys when Joel isn’t in the game, defensively has been a disaster most of the season because there’s just nobody who can replicate Joel’s interior defense when he’s not on the floor, but lately Paul Reed has been doing a great job at filling that role. They have to keep up this momentum in the non Joel minutes and I think they have a legitimate chance of beating anyone this year.
Tim Legler has easily been my favourite guest on this show to date
This is just pure basketball sicko talk n I love it!!
So weird listening to basketball analysts talk about actual basketball and not focus on storylines, politics and made up things that don’t matter! Very refreshing. Keep it up! Please.
I love Tim Legler!!! Pure basketball this episode🏀🔥
These 3 together is money! Make it full time!! Insane bball minds.
What an excellent, excellent basketball discussion. This is so much better than almost anything you see on TV.
Legs is so wise
Need more of this!!!!
Playoffs are going to be fun this year!
This is great! Just straight basketball talk!!
JAYLEN BROWN has played Small FORWARD this season for the Celtics (as opposed to last season).
The Celtic GUARDS are:
1. Derrick White has started 61/73 games +
2. Marcus Smart has started 55 games (missed a few weeks with injuries).
Oft-injured Rob Williams has only started 18 games. The Celtics are primarily not playing double BIG, with Mazzulla's spread/3pt offense.
I know these designations are silly, but if you are an ALL-NBA voter JAYLEN BROWN is a FORWARD
VOTE for Jaylen Brown for All-NBA
Damn was waiting for them to talk about the Bucks more. Legler started to and JJ said, we will get to the Bucks in a bit. Then they never really did.. Oh well. Still a great pod.
the best one yet!!🔥🔥
This is a great conversation! Love both these dudes!
You guys needs to be at ESPN everyday to keep SAS in check
2 of the best! Can listen to y’all all day
Legs is always a great listen. Guy needs way more air time. One of the best out there when it comes to talking hoops.
I love Legs too but unfortunately, he doesn’t get more air time because he’s not controversial enough. Honestly, when you think the way he breaks down the game and the minute details of it, he should be coaching college basketball somewhere.
Legz back in the building?! Gotta check this one out! ✊🏿💪🏿
