I was raised in Roanoke Va and I went to William Fleming back in 2002 I can remember traveling with my wrestling team to wrestle cave spring and seeing him practice his shot in the gym and it was awesome watching him play even tho I went to a different school. I’m glad one of our own made it and I’m also glad I got to live in that area during that time

And you lost, because Cave Spring was the shit. They killed us in baseball every year. It was like their whole team threw 80mph plus at a young age, and they all were good at batting and fielding too. We never saw that kind of speed much in Alleghany County. I threw fast, but I never hit off myself, so that didn't help me when facing teams like theirs.

Love JJ. I went to Duke '96-'98. Tough years but when Cappell hit the half court shot to go overtime with Carolina. I am Dukie for life. JJ is my favorite player. I have two sons playing in College now at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Oldest will start Navy SEAL school next summer. I would love to come watch him play in LA and then meet him when I am visiting my son. Second son is a shooter like JJ! He broke the school record for most 3's in a season (111) and most in a game (12). He works hard just like JJ. JJ is his favorite player. He reports to the USMMA this summer as a Plebe. Good stuff! Go Duke!

JJ looked like a bust until he moved around the league and changed his game and got better. Now, he's one of the best shooters and screen runners in the league

I've met JJ a couple times over the years (he's a close friend of a friend) and he's always come across as the solid, well-adjusted guy that he comes across in this video. He probably was a POS at some point while at Duke, but that made him a better human being now.

I sure would like to grow up there. I would like to grow up in that family. I also had an older sister that I followed around til I. Made a pain about myself

I thought JJ was going to be one of the greatest shooters to ever play, he was the closest I've EVER saw in my life to Pistol Pete. Say what you want about him, but damn that white boy can play.... But, more importantly, I LOVE HOW TIGHT THEIR FAMILY IS. That's what family is supposed to be like. I NEVER had that, but I wish I did. I lost both sisters by 8 and my brother when he was 6, all to cancer. My parents were drunks after that and didn't even know I was around, and yet I still received a scholarship to UNC for football, becoming starting qb. We all can make it and DREAM BIG!
Think about this, his record is still NOT even close to Pistol Pete ALL-TIME scoring record in college, and he didn't have a 3 point line. Plus, he ONLY played for 3 years because when I went to college Freshman were not allowed to play, same went for Kareem. God bless you JJ, you have CLASS!!!!

Finally an NBA Journey that doesn't start with.
    1. I didn't have a dad in my life
    2. I seen people get shot and killed
    3. I seen people sell drugs
    4. I had no choice it was either basketball or the streets.
All though I do understand some kids have a tougher life than others. The street, gang, drugs and murder story gets old after a while. This story of JJ is refreshing to watch. Someone with good parents and a great upbringing and worked hard to get where he is now. It should be this way for every kid growing up unfortunately that's not the case and we end up with sad stories of drugs, drive by's,guns, gangs and prostitution etc. No child should have to endure that. This is why I say its refreshing to watch a story like JJ's. I'm wishing all the kids didn't have to have that top 4 i posted. Instead have this top 4
    1. I had a great family upbringing
    2. I never ever had to see people die
    3. Never seen people sell drugs
    4. And lastly be the best student I can be and hit the books hard to be able to do whatever my mind and heart desires in life.

@@samblackshear6656 sorry sam I did get carried away but the truth of the matter is that story gets old. I 100% believe no child should have to go through those types of things but i also believe you are what you make of the situation speaking of its either basketball or the streets cmon!! That's bullshit it should be hit the books as hard as I can or find a job don't give me lazy excuses end of conversation.
