Randy Bachman was part of "The Guess Who" & then went on to form "BTO". Both were great Canadian rock bands. BTO had a lot of great songs in the 70's such as "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care Of Business", "Let It Ride", "Hey You", "Roll On Down The Highway" etc.
I raised 184k and Anna Kathleen Sanford is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Anna K. Sanford is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!
This is jazz blues, melodic guitar solos, beautiful arrangements and transitions, yes, this is not commercial music, but how perfect it sounds, it has long been on my personal playlist, and this is 1975, 50 years ago! 👍👍👍
Jazz is Randy Bachman's original style. That instrument you were wondering about is just an electric guitar using the volume control as an effect, picking while it's at 0 and raising the volume to sound like a bowed instrument
At 3:47 you ask what instrument. I believe electric guitar with a technique of using the volume knob during a high bend, gives it a cool vibe. Jeff Beck does it very well too.
What an underrated classic. I never heard it on the radio, but it is one of my favorites. I only heard it a few years ago. I immediately put that on my mental play list.
Of course, the message in this song only applies within reason. We DO need to look out for ourselves, but without supporting other people AS WELL, where would any of us be & how much WORSE would this world be? Right J.?
That sound you asked about was a guitar with either a volume pedal, or Randy Bachman actually adjusted the volume knob after plucking the string. Same sound, using a pedal is easier, but people like Jeff Beck were masters at using the guitar volume knob.
Their best well known song perhaps, for me I prefer the deep cuts like this one etc. Now it could be because TCOB was on the radio multiple times EVERY DAY for months, wore me down lol.
I LOVE this and Blue Collar (I know you've already reacted to the latter). I don't think Randy Bachman gets enough credit as a guitarist, he loves to experiment. There is a video from TopPop of them playing this song, so you can see all the instruments. So glad you covered this one!
There is a good documentary on Randy Bachman Vinal tap. Includes stories aboutThe Guess Who as well as BTO. Worth watching. It explains alot about how each song got written.
Takin' Care of Business was taken up by Elvis Presley as his personal moniker or catchphrase. Elvis wore a TCB with a lightning bolt through it as a necklace.
Love BTO. It's cool to listen to their jazz/blues songs as well as their rockers. You got a taste of this style from them when you did Blue Collar. Keep checking them out. Maybe Gimme Your Money Please or Stayed Awake All Night next.
Hi J. Watching you react to this, with the picture of Randy Bachman next to you - I didn't really realise before that you had the exact same style of beard. (A bit of 70s "fashion" has returned, I guess.) There are SO MANY MORE Canadian artists that you STILL need to check out. Canadian policies support/ed the growth of our musicians so we have a HUGE catalogue of good ones you haven't even touched yet. Other videos you have reacted to by Canadians have had a lot of those artists (& songs) listed. Maybe the next Canadian band you should get introduced to is another one from the 70s: The group is Trooper. The song for you to start with is - "Raise a Little Hell." - (just sayin'.)😉
Great jazzy-bluesy vibe from Randy Bachman. In the same vein, try Blue Collar by BTO. Their best and most popular song is probably Takin' Care of Business, which was adopted by Elvis as his motto late in his career.
A cigar and whiskey track. For more Cancon (Canadian content), you should check out Trooper. Trooper was a big party band in the 1970s. Their catalogue is quite big…no filler, all bangers.
Randy sounds like Michael Franks on this one. Franks was a soft jazz and pop music writer and musician. I never heard this song, tho I love BTO and The Guess Who. Thanks for introducing me to another side of Randy Bachmann, Jay!
Hey J, This was influenced by Randy’s jazz upbringing, About self-advocacing, prioritizing one's needs. Nice one for the hammock and glass of Ky bourbon, chillin' on nice summer day. Thanx so much, take care, Peace
Hi Jay, this sounds was sort of mellow at the same time moving sound. I also wanted to let you know I have a new female singer from the late 50’s and early 60’s. Her name is Sue Thomson. She sang a song that lasted a long time #1. The song is “Sad Movies”. I’m sure you’ll like it.
..one of my favorite BTO tunes...so smooth! If you like the smooth bluesy sound, I suggest you react to 'Blue Collar' by BTO....top notch guitar work! Then rock out to Sledgehammer!
Awesome song! I think it's time for you to check out Takin Care of Business by BTO, next! By the way, that instrument you were asking about was a guitar played with the volume pedal.
Anyone as shocked as me that BTO came out with this ‘chicken in a basket ‘ early bird special , lounge lizard AOR nonsense ? 🤯 Dunno what I was expecting but it sure as hell wasn’t this ! Wow ! 🤷♂️ 👍🏴
Jay thank you for ❤ doing Looking 👀 , Out For Number 1. AKA ,13 Th. I know a lot of subscribers to reactions , You Tube videos. Always rate Taking care of Business, as the Canadian Oldies Group Randy and BTO. As TCOB, there greatest one. But this one and Oh Yeah Blue Collar, shows the, range and tone of this group. Next Jay Blue Collar by them.❤😊😊
Yezzz indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favourite bands all time❤❤❤❤❤❤. Recommend the next one be NOT FRAGILE!!👍👍🤘🤘. listen to Second Hand for a fantastic guitar solo that'll blow your head off!!! I guarantee it!!!!!!!!
Some Canadian music oi check out Wicked and Weird by Buck 65, Bottom Dollar Baby by Nathan Wiley, Heartless World by Teaze, Painted Ladies by Ian Thomas
Not sure of the artist but this exact tune was done by a lady. I cant say the lyrics are the same but definitely the same tune. Im not sure which came first but it was a female jazz singer maybe Sade but probably predating her
Everyone ignores BTO's first album...lots of great material GIMME YOUR MONEY PLEASE BLUE COLLAR STAYED AWAKE ALL NIGHT DON'T GET YOURSELF IN TROUBLE... Do yourself a favor, check 'em out
Still terrible neither The Guess Who nor BTO are in the Rock hall of fame! Randy Bachman is an outstanding songwriter. Both bands were huge. Randy Bachman knew and was influenced by jazz artist Lenny Breau who moved to Winnipeg. A Canadian (now, but originally from Boston) band still putting out great music is Big Wreck. If you like guitar solos, great riffs and strong bass lines, try Ghosts.
Taking Care Of Business is another one to check out. Banger. Can't go wrong with BTO!
Randy Bachman wanted to explore a jazz creation, and he did it with Lookin' Out for #1. Always loved RB's playing!
Love Roll On Down The Highway.
Takin' Care Of Business is a must for your next BTO song.
I have not heard this track in years , had it on a vinyl compilation and it was one of my favourites, so atmospheric!❤
Retiring this year, $82K biweekly, this video reminds me of my life in 2023, you have really inspired me in so many ways!!❤️
I’m feeling truly inspired.
Can you provide additional insights about the bi-weekly subject you mentioned?

Whoa 😲 I know her too!
Miss Anna Kathleen Sanford is an incredible person who has brought immense inspiration and positivity into my life.
I meagerly kicked off with $2k, and the results have been Jaw-dropping TBH!!!
This is jazz blues, melodic guitar solos, beautiful arrangements and transitions, yes, this is not commercial music, but how perfect it sounds, it has long been on my personal playlist, and this is 1975, 50 years ago! 👍👍👍
I'm 63 and every guy that I knew and hung out with as a teenager had the first two BTO albums in their record collection as did i
Jazz is Randy Bachman's original style.
Guitarist Phil Keaggy uses it a lot too.
I saw Randy and son in concert last year. He can still rock better than 99% of the current rockers.
Got tickets to see them this spring along with April Wine.
Great band!!
What an underrated classic. I never heard it on the radio, but it is one of my favorites. I only heard it a few years ago. I immediately put that on my mental play list.
Got tickets to see BTO in May. Check out Randy Bachman live with his original group the Guess Who: "The Guess Who - American Woman & No Time".
Of course, the message in this song only applies within reason. We DO need to look out for ourselves, but without supporting other people AS WELL, where would any of us be & how much WORSE would this world be? Right J.?

Taking care of business is probably their biggest song.
This is a such a smooth jazzy song!
I don’t think you’ve reacted to “Taking care of business” yet. Arguably their best song
Their best well known song perhaps, for me I prefer the deep cuts like this one etc. Now it could be because TCOB was on the radio multiple times EVERY DAY for months, wore me down lol.
BTO is one of the best ever!!!! Great band and no bad songs!! ❤❤❤❤❤

BTO - " Not Fragile " is another banger!! It's Rockin' Awsome 🎸
3:18 "I love the maracas on this..."
Acà en Chile tambièn nos gustan las maracas, ja ja!!
A cool jazzy song! Fantastic guitar work.
Another song by them in the same vein is Blue Collar
Some of the Guitar work reminds me of guitarist AL Di Meola and that is a big compliment! If you've never heard Al Di Meola's music then you need to !
From Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Love BTO. It's cool to listen to their jazz/blues songs as well as their rockers. You got a taste of this style from them when you did Blue Collar. Keep checking them out. Maybe Gimme Your Money Please or Stayed Awake All Night next.
Another one of your soon to be top BTO favorite you must react to is "Takin' Care Of Business".

Great suggestion. We're Here For A Good Time, Baby Won't Cha Please Come Home are also great tunes ❤❤❤
Good song good reaction
Prayers!
Great jazzy-bluesy vibe from Randy Bachman. In the same vein, try Blue Collar by BTO. Their best and most popular song is probably Takin' Care of Business, which was adopted by Elvis as his motto late in his career.
The members of this were in The Guess Who. Good Song!!!!
Jay another great BTO song (other than the ones listed before) is "Rock is my Life, and This is my Song"
If you dug this song, you ain't seen nothing yet. 😆
Another Masterpiece song from BTO!!!
Hey J, This was influenced by Randy’s jazz upbringing, About self-advocacing, prioritizing one's needs. Nice one for the hammock and glass of Ky bourbon, chillin' on nice summer day. Thanx so much, take care, Peace
Nice. Very different from my typical auditory experience with BTO. 😮
"Two Fisted Mama" by Katie Webster. She's the real deal.
BTO!👏👏👏
This is my first time hearing this one. Very cool.
Not to be outdone...Fred Turner is one hell of a bass player, and that growly voice...Love BTO from my home town
One of my favorites from BTO !
Jay, don't forget Blue Colar! And remember he was guitarist for the Guess Who!
A great one from BTO, with a different, jazzier vibe. Glad to see you enjoying it! 🎵 🪇
Jazz influence for Randy was another Winnipeger Lenny Breau
You should check out the song Drops of Jupiter by Train. You will love the violins in that song.
i, sure the first time i heard this song was on a airplane and it was over the music channel
..one of my favorite BTO tunes...so smooth!
Give "Wednesday in Your Garden" by Bachman's former group The Guess Who a spin. I think you'll like it.
Yes . Try BLUE COLLAR. HOLD BACK THE WATER
Anyone as shocked as me that BTO came out with this ‘chicken in a basket ‘ early bird special , lounge lizard AOR nonsense ? 🤯
Dunno what I was expecting but it sure as hell wasn’t this ! Wow !
