Some will claim "I'd buy that car", then when time to put up, it's million excuses to not. Also, many "I will fix it up someday" projects end up crushed.
I'm 4 days late watching this. However my late Uncle Harry had a 1949 Flathead Ford (Sanford and Son) truck. I asked him what he was going to do with the truck. His exact words were I'm going to restore it. Well restored never happened. It ended up being crushed 😭. I offered him 2000 dollars for it back in the 80's I loved that old truck.
It comes down to money. If i had the money i would of bought so many cars that had no rust or anything other then a missing engine that were in the junk yards but the other problem is money. Some junkyards think their stuff is worth a fortune and they ask wayyyyyy to much for a vehicle.
The new crusher is excellent and the taller height is very noticeable. A time saver being able to put two units in at a time to crush. Don’t let the haters get to you. If they want something they can bring cash and buy it. Excellent video
Funny I was thinking it was rare to see a blue GT3000, then when Silas crushed the Ford F150 on top of it, the trim came off...revealing it was red like most of them! I hope at least one of those awesome '61 Oldsmobile sedans get saved!
Jup, these Olds 88, i guess Jetstar was their name(?), look very good, even as a 4-Door, much better than a 61 Chevy imho. Considering their not sooo bad condition, sb should take them both and make one good out of them. I' d def would do, but as said, am from Germany. Btw these 1970s Mercedes and older and even those from the 1980s/90s sell good for pretty high prices over here. Silas, please check out if one of the later Model Mercedes is a 500E, before crushing!
Those 61 Oldsmobiles sure do bring back great memories. One of the best and most comfortable cars I ever owned. Wish I wasn't too old to start another referb project. LOL Hope someone buys them. Great video, and looking forward to your next adventure.
Hi Silas, This was a surprising enjoyable video! I found it strangely relaxing. Your personality adds a lot to the enjoyment. Thank you for sharing it. Peace my friend, DrRick
Good job silas! finally a hr long vid!! love to watch cars and other stuff crushed in. Like the tub, tractors, motorcycles etc.. always making interesting videos!!
Everyone has the perfect recipe for what you have to do... On the one hand they tell you that you are crazy for crushing some cars because they are valuable, but on the other hand, no one wants to pay for them... Go ahead and crush! Congratulations on the new EZ-Crusher!
No grief, but it in Germany nobody would consider crushing a 1970s Mercedes and older, they sell for at least 1k even in really bad condition, older ones, such as those with the fins from the 60s sell for at least 2,5k over here. And, as stated, if the W124 E- Class is a V8 Model, at best a 500E or topnotch maybe an AMG, dont crush it, i really might work sth out, sell this thing over here in Germany, could pay shipping quotes for one of these Oldsmobile 88s by selling it over here maybe. Both should fit in a 40ft container. should be around 2,5k shipping cost, but dont know what it would trailering cost from Silas' place to a seaport where shipping is available to Europe, Netherlands or Germany!?
I mean, for a classic car guy livind abroad, its sometimes hard seeing some of them getting cut up. But, business has to roll and flourish, so i totally understand.
the only way that car would be worth money where if it was a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 twin turbo otherwise it's just a junkie 90s modelMitsubishi thats not worth much
Hard to believe nobody wants that Chevette, they were fun little cars to drive, and you sure don’t see many around . ..Awesome episode Silas , thanks !!
I drove a '76 Chevette for a Chinese restaurant back in the day. It was so slow that when you came to a corner, don't lift off the throttle and only brake if necessary. LOL!!
Love the new crusher Silas, but I'm glad the 40 ford coupe and the 60 Plymouth suburban had a stay of execution. Really enjoy your channel, please keep making videos 🙂
14:40 ,who ,not the Daewoo, those are quite rare these days....looks like the Daewoo Leganza is now a Deadwoo Lasagna.......good crush 👍 just made my ultra rare Daewoo Leganza Black& White (prototype) pre production go up in value more 😁....the US version was pretty junky though unlike the Korean domestic models
haha I was gonna comment the same thing. The Daewoo Leganza was the first car I purchased out of high school, got 30% off for some program they had. I had to get a vehicle salesperson license, and it looked like a 21+ age license, so I was able to buy alcohol and gamble with it. Good times with the Leganza.
@@unosturgis, I remember seeing a Lanos get rolled over on the Pennsylvania Turnpike & there was literally 300 to 400 full cans of beer 🍺 everywhere including empty cans too ,looks like one of the Penn State college kids who did that program was using it for a keger without the kegs 😆 the car was like a turtle 🐢 on its back, & probably going to a "Pineapple Express "🍍 smoke out as well as it wreaked of weed too ,we ended up towing it back to Daewoo America main office in NJ where it stayed for months until I got to get all the surviving beers out ,some good parts & then I feed it to the crusher as they wanted the whole thing dissapear, it was a big hassle for them...& a bad image
Great edit and narration Silas! You are increasing the value of collectables, rarity raises prices. Also repurposing is great! Let's the old live longer and generates interest in American industrial prowess.
That would be such a calming job crushing cars, but I'll be the 1st to admit I would suck at the business in a whole because I couldn't bring myself to crush the old stuff.
Hey I just thought I'd give you a tip that might help you that little bad you took off and you grounded off Harbor Freight sells a automatic spring-loaded center punch you can take those rivets and put a little center punch in them and then use a cordless drill and drill them out
I spent 40 years building Buicks in Flint Michigan in charge of skilled trades in the body shop putting the sheet metal together so it's weird to see them crushed
I appreciate your videos, i also was raised in a wrecking yard! all gone now and every one involved just 2 of us left check the VW engine yourself it might be misdiagnosed!! thank you for all your hard work and a good man
The wife worked for Chrysler and brought a white on white preproduction Stealth home in 89. That thing was a rocketship for the time. I easily wound it up to 165mph. Shame to see its sister car as junkyard fodder. 👊😎👍
You know I like the crushing videos Silas!
Thanks and thanks for showing where the dissapearing bathtub went.
Stayin tuned! 👍🤠
Sometimes they disintegrate but that was a tough one! Thanks!
putting tires in the cars is adding weight when scarping going over the scales the scrap yard probably wouldn't like that man that's cheating weight
@@spartanprimespartanprime3597He said you're allowed to have 4 tires in each car.

You're 100% correct on both examples.

They sit outdoors too long until they aren’t worth saving. I know a couple of car hoarders who have vehicles in that condition

The cast iron hot tub in the altima was pretty cool.
Silas, Really like seeing the 61 Olds 88s. You do see them anymore even at car shows. Thanks.
Spring cleaning at the junkyard. Also, please Silas, keep the window in the loader clean for us, sometimes our view is somewhat obscured. 😁

Kinda miss the old one growling sound on its way down. But this one is smooth and pretty 🤗
