The idea of voting for Gunpla box art is a cool idea, such that I'm surprised they haven't tried earlier. It costs them so little to do and it nets them some easy engagement.
They've literally made the Gundam look like one of those unstoppable inhuman slashers ala Jason of Friday the 13th. The RX-78 just looks like it's going to peal the metal covers off of a Zaku like it was human skin.
I don't know if anyone's noticed or mentioned this but if you look closely at the double layer Shield of the custom zaku2 it's actually side panels from a Magellan tank which is fitting considering that it's using tank treads as extra armor And yeah it's not going to win any beauty pageants but I think that's kind of the point I'm pretty sure this is her original zaku just badly damaged and given a repair job after probably getting its ass kicked by the Gundam ex Also I know the Gundam ex Is a divisive Design But it's seriously growing on me In terms of what they're trying to go for with it And just this menacing skeletal look of it
Yeah, I noticed those were the side skirts. What I found interesting was that those Guntanks in the second trailer were specifically the variant from MS: Igloo. And that Gouf was definitely a Gouf Custom considering its sheer performance in that clip.

also there are Japanese comments comparing the Gundam Ex to Jason Voorhees as in the thing is a horror movie monster that the poor Zeon army had to face.
I still think the gundam EX might be a modified guncannon to look like a scary gundam...the closeup shot of the face does kinda have some similarities to the guncannons faceplate, with a lot of stuff bolted on and the vents.
The Zaku Tank in the trailer was also pretty neat looking. I'm really hoping that the traveling Gundam Base adds a lot more of the exclusives and P-Bandai kits. Really hoping for the HG Sandrock or Heavyarms Custom kits or a replacement for my wrecked EG Nu Gundam FF. Though the EG Gundam Base Gramps and booster sled are interesting.

The RG#01 is an over-engineered mess with relatively poor tolerances and the pre-mold inner frame on that scale just didn't work, becoming loose even on the first bend. I hail that model kit as one of my favorites because of its ambitions, but as a model kit compared to most of what Bandai makes, even +20 year old kits, it struggles. Them sticking with the "Advanced MS Joint" inner frames for as long as they did is one of their worse decisions.
Why do the RFV universe figures have such a high price are they deluxe or Exclusive? It's really odd when compare their prices with other new figures example Strike freedom 2 comes with different shoulders, forearms, and beam sabers blades that the previous version was missing but is still around the same price point. I'm starting to think they want them to be store warmers.
So, since I am here in Japan until the 18th, what shops should I be looking in for the rg rx-78 version 2 after it releases? I get a feeling the Gundam base is gonna be packed
Requiem For Vengeance has the same issues Inquisitor did, both being Erasmus Broslau films. Broslau seems to excel at environmental and mechanical designs while his character animations and dialogue are just meh or pretty subpar.

Is it me or is the merchandise for Gundam as a whole is just stupid. Most of the merch is so gimmicky or is so esoteric that 99.9% of the fan base will NOT buy it. That and that basically everything is pre-order and if you miss it, well tough luck. I'm not spending $50 USD for a graphic tee when I can get them for $15 and the items I might be remotely interested in are horribly designed and marketed. I'd like functional items, not stuff that I can only put on my shelf when there are other better display items that are not only much cooler but will also tell a story. They have stuff for your key chain but I don't want a 4" acrylic figure or a enamel pin of a character I could give 2 shits about [ looking at you bouncing robot thing]. Bandai is fucked in the international market because the products that are out are absolute hot garbage compared to to third party alternatives. And the idiotic Japanese business mindset of everything MUST be FOMO based. Me when I browse P-bandai - "Hey this is nice but its pre-order [ it has ended] and is $18 USD. But hey look at [3rd party website]!! Not only do they have something VERY similar but they have a bigger variety and is more reasonable priced, lets go with 3rd party." I'm more likely to buy a lanyard, a pin for my backpack or a enamel key chain ornament than it is for me to buy any of your merch. I have worked in product development for the past 8 years and is it so hard to come up with a good product that [international] customers will actually want to buy instead you cater to your smallest demographic? Is it so ungodly hard to have a lanyard with different gundam series on them? Posters of individual gundam or group picture of gundam from X series? Enamel pin and enamel key chain ornaments of actually recognizable symbol or figures instead of obscure things from a series. Or is your team so incompetent and shit to the point that they are stat padding every year so that they can retain their jobs? "We released a whole new line up of pre-order merch for guaranteed sales so we can confidently say that we have been steadily increasing our overall sales figures year over year. And pair that with our new lineup pre-ordered gunpla! So we can say that we have released 20+ new models in the past year where they have met or exceeded sales expectations [ expected piss poor sales figs but hey more ppl bought the pre-order than we thought so thats a win!]
