I'd argue that Konami made the very first *good* basketball video game - Double Dribble. It's a shame that legacy didn't continue with their later efforts.
tha beast when its a sports game: "we will be completing the main championship in the quickest way available" tha beast when its a racing game: "im not too into racing games, but i suppose i will 100% this title"
Commenting here to feed the algorithm. Completely not interested in these sports games myself, but the series is great. I'm just wondering what percentage of the games are like this - low effort sports games that just tweak things a bit each year with updated rosters. Good man for slogging through it to get to the good ones! Glad there are quick versions of these, such that you don't have to play for ten hours to count it as a win...
KERRY KITTLES!!! Oh man haha me and my friends were obsessed with him for some reason and imitated him when he was a college player. He was always on sportscenter in the morning before school that college season. He ended up essentially being a bust i think lol
Kerry Kittles holds Villanova's all-time points record (2,243). He was in the top 10 in Nets' history in FG, 3-PT, and steals at the time of his retirement. Just cuz you asked who the heck he was :)
As someone who was born in Salt Lake City and had to watch the Jazz consistently get shut down by Jordan and the Bulls over and over again in this era, I think you made the right choice switching to the Pacers, but it still hurts… 😢
Kukoc was my main man in hangtime bc Rodman sucks unless you plan to play a very specific way. Pippen holds his own as an all around, but gotta play kukoc if you want both players to be capable shooters.
Kerry Kittles was a great player especially in college. When he graduated he was the all time leading scorer at Villanova with 2,243 points, AND the all time steals leader with 277. Put some respect on his name son!
@@northofnashira2575 Possibly because I was about 13 when this game came out and I was super into the NBA at that time? But definitely wasn't like "oh look there's Glen Rice"
Come on Kerry Kittles was the guy who started the fad in the mid 90s of wearing one high and one low sock while he was in college at Villanova. Matter of fact Keith Van Horn done the same thing for a little bit.
Good stuff. Not my fav, but decent. Look out for hangtime bc it's sooooo cool, and you don't win that until you beat the whole roster of teams, then beat the whole roster of teams again with their special roster unlocked. Doesn't hurt to get 100 trivia points as well, then you win. Foreal tho, please dont cut short hangtime when it comes, if it hasn't already. Showtime NBA on NBC is actually the cooler one to look out for, it's like a spiritual successor to hangtime w a tiny bit of realism. Very good too.
Crazy how bad their basketball games were, considering how GOOD their soccer games were. the Olympic/Track and Field games were fun but hit or miss on N64
as other's have pointed out you seem to have a natural voice and speaking style for sport commentating or maybe just any commentating honestly. you could probably do radio or the news or something too.
NGL I skipped to the end to see the next game. Could already tell this game was gonna be ass after a couple minutes. Have a comment and a like though to help it out. Still waiting for Turok 2. One of my favorite shooters of all time. Also Mischief Makers. Such a gem that one.
Man, I never liked sports games that much, but you really took me back to the 90’s with all those Bulls names! And they beat you without Jordan?! Dayum! 😉
Itd be cool if thabeast went and learned a bit on the history of that one bc it's so freaking epic, if he name drops whose been down it, or talks about it not being skateable anymore, that will be a nice easter egg. He gets super crazy bonus points if he points out that old videos w terrible quality are mislabeled as Mullen hitting the Leap, but it was Jamie Thomas in the clip, just classic limewire, early internet mislabeling. I hope he mentions any of it, basically.
My question is .. knowing that you’re 60+ games ahead, how do you still remember the small details about the gameplay? Do you make notes as you play? Lol
@@Riaam2nah because he couldn't upload one week and he said it was cause the video wasn't finished being edited. So it is intriguing how he would remember the games
That free throw meter does seem awfully over complicated. I really like Konami baseball and (older) soccer games, and I liked "NBA Give N Go" on SNES (called Run and Gun in Arcades)... but otherwise Konami sports have always been pretty hit and miss. It really is wild how many different releases each year of licensed sports games there where back then, where now we at most will get 2... EA and 2K, and nothing else.
For those not in the know Thab is a 6 foot 5 monster who dunks from the three point line. I played against him in school and the FBI is still looking for the remains of my ankles. Only reaaon he did not go to the NBA was becaise he got caught up with a mahjong gambling ring.
I absolutely love this series, but my god I'm tired of sports and racing games. I feel like the second half of this challenge will be loaded with better and more interesting games.
7:10 The enthusiastic "I wouldn't have it any other way" voiceover while Twitch-Thab is almost having a breakdown is top notch :D
It's funny because you're getting good at commentary so it sounds like you're having fun playing...then the game gets the first 0/10 lol
7:50 "Kerry Kittles, who is that guy?"
Hah, I had his college jersey when I was a kid. He played at Villanova, and then later for the NJ Nets
I love every time a sports game comes up in this challenge, just to hear thab's play by play commentary lol
Come for the pleasant N64 nostalgia, but stay for the legitimately good play-by-play and commentary.
Actually impressive sports commentary performance from ThaBeast! Someone hire this man!
He gets better with every sports game.
He would be great as an E-Sports announcer
I swear it said "Rik Shits" That H and M look about the same in that font.
Lol I was wondering where your face was in the thumbnail. When I found it, I was not disappointed.
Rik Smits has a very unfortunate name for low resolution N64 games 😂 4:05
I thought that was why he zoomed in hahaha
Your sports commentary is getting so good
Seriously man, I love the play-by-play commentary. It’s so well done.
I'd argue that Konami made the very first *good* basketball video game - Double Dribble. It's a shame that legacy didn't continue with their later efforts.
tha beast when its a sports game: "we will be completing the main championship in the quickest way available"
tha beast when its a racing game: "im not too into racing games, but i suppose i will 100% this title"
Racing games have different tracks and quirks though... sports are made for playing with friends, the singleplayer is just plain repetitive
Lol i loved how you went for the Jazz and praised the Spurs logo. Felt like i was 15 again.

They didn't just tweak this...the completely reworked it and made it much worse lol.
Play by play was on point. Watched everyone of these so far. I’ll be here for the rest as well.
Wow! That Bulls commentary was edge of your seat. Loved it.
KERRY KITTLES!!! Oh man haha me and my friends were obsessed with him for some reason and imitated him when he was a college player. He was always on sportscenter in the morning before school that college season. He ended up essentially being a bust i think lol
Love your commentary on these sports games haha keep it up
4:06 Rick Shits will always go down in history as the most infamous NBA player of all time!

Rik Shits lives!
4:06 lol it really does look like thats his name
As someone who was born in Salt Lake City and had to watch the Jazz consistently get shut down by Jordan and the Bulls over and over again in this era, I think you made the right choice switching to the Pacers, but it still hurts… 😢
I'm not even into N64 but the quality of these videos make them a great watch. Also the tempered enthusiasm is great for a computer games channel.
Tempered enthusiasm is a good way to describe him
That Bulls-Pacers game was off the chain. I’ll take this game over 2k. At least it’s still possible to hit 3’s.
"Rik Smits" was a very generous interpretation of those pixels.
This series is the only reason to get out of bed on a friday morning. Great stuff!
Kukoc was a lefty, but everyone shoots righty in this game. Great attention to detail!
Kukoc was my main man in hangtime bc Rodman sucks unless you plan to play a very specific way. Pippen holds his own as an all around, but gotta play kukoc if you want both players to be capable shooters.
This series is how I start my weekend.
Kerry Kittles was a great player especially in college. When he graduated he was the all time leading scorer at Villanova with 2,243 points, AND the all time steals leader with 277. Put some respect on his name son!
KERRY KITTLES IS A NETS LEGEND! How dare you drag his name through the mud with a “who?!?” 😂
Glen Rice was a good player. But there's no way he should be a cover player
Would you have even realized it was Glen Rice if they didn't have his name on the cover?
@@northofnashira2575 Possibly because I was about 13 when this game came out and I was super into the NBA at that time? But definitely wasn't like "oh look there's Glen Rice"
@@bryantsteury8910 The fact that they actually have "NBA All Star Glen Rice" printed on the box says it all.

The rage quit ft. Utah Jazz though
God this Bulls roster, this was the start of the dark years
Great series. It always makes my week. Go Spurs Go!

Happy Friday Beast!
Sounds like this game wasn't the slam dunk we were hoping for. You'd think this title would have been an easy layup for Konami.
I don't see what you did there
Sounds like Konami dropped the ball on this one.
Booo! Get off the stage!
Where is the old Konami
Crazy how bad their basketball games were, considering how GOOD their soccer games were. the Olympic/Track and Field games were fun but hit or miss on N64
as other's have pointed out you seem to have a natural voice and speaking style for sport commentating or maybe just any commentating honestly. you could probably do radio or the news or something too.
Basketball is my favorite sport. I like the way they dribble up and down the court.
Ayyyyyyyy! I hope we're all having a good Friday!!
Late 90s indiana pacers FTW 🙌
Man when you picked the Pacers I almost cried tears of joy. A man of culture
love these vids, great job as always
Best series on YT
As a native Hoosier, thank you for giving the Pacers their first NBA title.
They haven’t done much since the good old ABA days.
The beast721 sounds like a basket ball announcer for the radio in this video
NGL I skipped to the end to see the next game. Could already tell this game was gonna be ass after a couple minutes. Have a comment and a like though to help it out.

Rik Shits, what a legend
Oh man can’t wait for THPS2 the school level in that one with the Leap of Faith is an all time classic level

Glen Rice as a Laker on the cover?!?! True nba heads are blown away by this decision
My question is .. knowing that you’re 60+ games ahead, how do you still remember the small details about the gameplay? Do you make notes as you play? Lol
I also want to know this
Some people just have good memory when it comes to things like that.
I mean, he has to edit the video, so he can basically relive the whole thing during editing
I assumed he makes the video after playing the game and then just leaves the video in his backlog.
@@Riaam2nah because he couldn't upload one week and he said it was cause the video wasn't finished being edited. So it is intriguing how he would remember the games
A fat ZERO out of ten for enjoyment, Konami roasted
I love these videos so much
I forgot how much sport games had on N64
I'm not sure about the font in this game, at 4:05: Rik Sh*ts??
Question after you finish the n64 library have you thought of doing dreamcast or ps1 games
Love this series
You know this series is fire when even a corny game like this has 28,000 views day 1❤
Kobe Bryant court side was my fav bball game on n64. Me and my bro would have epic games.

Glen Rice in Lakers is so odd to see
Woot
Love the perseverance!
8:23 “no patrick ewing here folks” did ewing ever play for the cavs????? i donk think
I can't wait for Road Rash!
Great series.
I love your sports commentary. Lol
Imagine choosing a team because of Ostertag
232, what's that!?
Great vid, Thab!
The Konami arcade basketball games was where it's at.
10:12 The interesting part and the *GOOD* kind of sports game.

Oh shit! THPS2 is next! Thats gonna be a BANGER! Possibly the greatest video game of all time not counting any of the GTA series.
Love Friday's!
I was really excited to see you play as the Jazz. I new it seemed to good to be true. 😢
Can't wait for you to beat Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 that game is iconic!
I don't recall Brent Barry being such an impact player.
Its good to know that if TH-cam doesn't work out, Thab can make a living as a sports play by play guy
lol @ the bulls 5/5 in the 4th quarter from deep.
Hyped for tony hawk 2. Legendary n64 game.
You're in for a treat when you get to Rocket: Robot on Wheels
Kerry kittles was amazingggg
That. Was. Awesome.
Good old Rick Shits
Yeah here we go 🎉
Ahhhh. The Jazz glory days.
bro ride out the clock for the last shot
Dude with the disrespect for Kerry Kittles
I feel even Chandler getting lost again wouldn't help this game.
"beating every n64 game" **simulates 90% of it**
I absolutely love this series, but my god I'm tired of sports and racing games. I feel like the second half of this challenge will be loaded with better and more interesting games.
We Love Big Z!
Thab sports simulcast when?
I dont know anything about basketball, but I do know you should always pick Chicago Bulls in games of this era!
Get your plaid hats and checkerboard Vans slip-ons for next week boys and girls we have a Superman to sing
You will never convince me that that says "Smits".
