9:16 -- I checked my identification book and this weird black creature looks like "Chauliodus macouni," or the Pacific Viperfish. It is part of the "barbled dragonfishes" family.
Great video…always love fishing the deep water cod. My guess is that some of the smaller “greenblotched” rockfish you guys caught were actually greenspotted rockfish.
I have been using electric reels for over 20 years. The new aversions, the more modern versions will come with a high low button. Just shift into the low gear. And you don't have to worry about changing speeds. Your fish will come to the surface
Agreed. Sculpin [although smaller and a bit of a pin is the ass] are solid and the reds are fire. The salmon grouper bullets stink and are slimy and just don't taste as good. Haven't dissected your list, but I'm taking notes. Thx for the info.

Dang that’s a bad ass name haha. Ya I think you are right though, looks just like it!

Thanks for watching! Could be, normally the green spots are more distinguished. They tasted great either way 😂
I tie my own rockfish rigs and there is nothing cooler than seeing two jumbo orange fish come up from the deep. 🤘🏻
Hell ya, one of our favorite things to see!
This guy is a legend, I’ve been hearing fish stories about giant bass he would catch when he was in grade school. Modern day Zane Grey!
Haha thanks man!
Hi there, I’m moving to San Clemente so just wondering if you take people out fishing for the day? If so what do you charge, thanks Greg
@@greghernandez9772 Hey Greg, I don’t currently but I am looking into it. California has some fun hoops to jump through first.
The way your buddy is standing, looks like his back is gonna be hurting at the end of the trip!!! 😂
Haha the Brett stance!
Love your videos man, maybe you can make something thar shows how you spot the rock fish on the finder, find new spots for newbees.
Thanks for watching! That is a great idea I can definitely do something like that soon
Off the east end of Catalina about 10 MI you should find 8 to 900 ft of water all the reds you want
Catalina has a ton of those mega mackerel!!! I thought they were bonita too... caught a bunch of them trolling bug ass rapalas
Ya there are some beast macs around that area. Makes sense the marlin like that zone when they show up
@@fluentfishing yup

That sounds much more efficient!
Ever just used sugar dissolved in rice wine vinegar to make happy rice? Super easy too and you use so little that the vinegar lasts forever
That actually sounds delicious I might have to try it once I have gone through my amazon sized pack of this powder haha
nice, you are truly enjoying the fruits of you labor, after eating that, I would feel like a super charged chad enjoying the gains
It was delicious!
Excellent video. Looks like the wind cooperated. Where did you launch from and how many miles was it to the island?
Yea we had a great weather window. We launched from newport this trip. It was like, 28 miles.
The fish that you were catching once called Asteria
what's up fisherman ? eating the catch...sushi looks delicious.
It hit the spot for sure, so good!
BREEEEEEEEETT!!!!
Haha the one and only
What are the specs on your boat? Length, Engine, brand? ETC thanks for the awesome video
Right on thanks for watching! It is a 2005 parker 1801. Has a 115 hp yamaha four stroke on the back. Fun little boat!
Soy nuevo suscritor en su canal🎉
¡Bienvenido!
What electric reels are those? Looking for a decent one right now.
They are the Shimano Beastmasters. A little pricey but I love Shimano's customer service.
Also looking into an electric reel, is the maintenance on them fairly like a regular reel? Rinse them off after use and such?
Cool videos where do you launch from?
Anywhere in socal! depends on where we want to go.
Salmon Grouper, Green blotched and Mexicans are my least favorite eaters. Chilis, Reds, Chuckle heads and of course the good old Sculpin are my favs.

Bullets = fillets I guess
I totally agree. The Chili we got was so good!
@@jasondixon7389 Sculpin are definitely a top fav
@@fluentfishingman my sculpin are just sitting in my freezer :( ain’t find a chance to cook em up haha.
Stop fishing. We are over fishing already
@@Sharon-f7n fishing here is highly regulated. I can assure you we are not overfishing.
JP Morgan Chase would have fired your ass for this... lol so lame.
Haha seriously??
@@fluentfishing Yes, no joke.
