Protip with durian: Freeze it. It will help mitigate the pungency (cold things don't spread their "fragrance" as quickly). Flavor and texture profile is similar to a very creamy ice cream. It doesn't taste anything like it smells. I didn't like durian much when I was a kid and still don't often eat it, but frozen durian is pretty good.
I went to Singapore years ago (1989) and the chinese friend i was with (i am french) ask me if i wanted to try it. We were on a small market and i could smell it pretty hard. She said that I had to pass the smell and that it taste really goodl, so I thought to some very strong and smelly cheeses we have in France that can be quite soft at taste so I said OK. The vendor prepared it for us (we ate outside at his stall) and honestly i enjoyed it. The taste is really peculiar, in my souvenirs I remember a creamy sensation and i could not compare it with any other fruit I know. It was an "interesting" experiment 😁. @@surgeeo1406 in the past, they roasted musicians that were doing fake world records, or pop violinists that pretended to be classical musicians, or AGT fake performances. this time, they had to name legit classical musicians, which is a huge difference. besides, they did say some names, like Andre Reis (maybe he's gimmicky?), etc. they're still pretty much the same in this regard. they are only afraid to say real pros/greats.
Regarding instrument jokes, TwoSet just says the actual common classical music jokes. They haven't held back recently either (well maybe a little bit, in terms of explaining a bit more when they say something).

Protip with durian: Freeze it. It will help mitigate the pungency (cold things don't spread their "fragrance" as quickly). Flavor and texture profile is similar to a very creamy ice cream. It doesn't taste anything like it smells. I didn't like durian much when I was a kid and still don't often eat it, but frozen durian is pretty good.

I went to Singapore years ago (1989) and the chinese friend i was with (i am french) ask me if i wanted to try it. We were on a small market and i could smell it pretty hard. She said that I had to pass the smell and that it taste really goodl, so I thought to some very strong and smelly cheeses we have in France that can be quite soft at taste so I said OK. The vendor prepared it for us (we ate outside at his stall) and honestly i enjoyed it. The taste is really peculiar, in my souvenirs I remember a creamy sensation and i could not compare it with any other fruit I know. It was an "interesting" experiment 😁. After all the durian is called King 🤴 of the Fruit, there must be a reason.
@@cathyb1273 the reason most foreigner hates it is simply because durian are exported there. That fruit are strangely fragile in term of storage and specific time to eat. just missed it a bit, and it'll taste super bland or very acidic, almost like rotten food.

Actually supposed top-tier durians are bitter or bittersweet, and i don’t like it. I think the much sweeter ones (with no bitterness at all) are what seasoned durians eater would call meh durians (it’s way better tho). The bittersweet durians (like Mao Shan Wang and all that) are not good, i don’t like any bitterness in my fruits.
