    Tell the truth! Biracial representation exists at the expense of Black women. Biracial actresses have nearly replaced Black women in films and TV. Biracial actresses account for over 70% of "black" actresses listed on IMDB. Meanwhile, black men are always cast as authentic black men. You rarely ever see a light skin or biracial man cast as a black man.

      Exactly. If you want to cast a biracial actress in a role, cool. Give her parents in an interracial relationship. Eddie and Tracee Ellis would make sense or Nia and Shemar Moore looking type father or a white dude but Eddie and Nia made Lauren??? 🙄 Like just stop…And before people tag me talking about “Black women have the Eve gene blah blah blah.” Yes, I’m aware. Black women can produce lighter children. However, that is EXTREMELY rare when their partner looks like Eddie. And even if they did have a lighter child, Lauren still looks mixed phenotypically as well as hair. She’s not just light skinned. None of this would be confusing if Black people stopped claiming mixed people as Black. Lauren has a white father and Black mother, she is biracial and that’s ok Black people. Let mixed folks have their own space, Black people have our own space and white folks have their space. Problem solved and everyone is represented appropriately and happy 🤗

We are being ethnicly erased, and im tired of it. It's fine to identify with black culture more, but when it comes to getting paid for being black in any kind of position, a biracial should not be allowed to take up space. Honestly this is a very dated concept. Interracial relationships between Black and White men and women (and nonbinary) aren’t as taboo as they once were. What would have made the story more interesting if the explored the full black woman meeting an immigrant family from China or Korea. The discussion between the relationship between model minority versus Black people isn’t highlighted enough and there’s so much rich content to explore.

    • @BooDotBoo
      @BooDotBoo ปีที่แล้ว +24

      This. If we're going to do interracial, it'd be nice to see different mixes. I loved that one movie Issa Rae had where it was a black woman and a south east asian man. That was different and actually made it more interesting. We've seen enough black/white couples, and white/black men with asian wives enough, too.

    You know what’s interesting. Over 10 years ago I used to work upstairs from the GAP in a tall office building. Each and every time there was a photo ad in their windows, it was allllways a biracial female woman or child, but they would use a non-biracial black man or child. I was, like, what the heck is up with that?? Are they saying a woman with two black parents isn’t attractive? Fast-forward 10 years later and NOW folks are finally noticing and calling BS!! This is a big issue all over the world. Granted there are shows (like the new Bel Air and Snowfall) that are hiring darker hued black people, but Hollywood has a lonnnnggg way to go. Golden Brown complected women who are Porsha Williams, Vivica Fox and myself won’t get many roles because Hollywood hasn’t grasped the hues that are in between. They’re going to either cast REALLY dark or REALLY light and/or biracial. The colorism has a lot to do with us black people. Many of us are still color struck in 2022. Btw, Justin, have you seen Riches??!! A LOT of melanin but, low and behold, they’ve tossed in a sprinkle of light skin or biracial folks, and then one of the main characters has a white boyfriend.
