I reread the Sherlock Holmes novels after finishing this game and I was astonished by the number of references that were in Chronicles (be it Brett, the choice of Curare, etc.). I think the games were made by fans of the source material which I really do appreciate
Absolutely, the speckled band case in game seems to poke fun at the original too. I also loved how they play Herlock as a 'fake sherlock' (or just not actually a 'great detective' based on the logical fumbles he appears to make early game, but as time goes on (esp in resolve) you start seeing more of his true nature and involvement in events. I don't think that would have workes nearly as well if they weren't fans of the source material. :)
I like that in localizing, one pair of puns actually became Japanese: Ringo and Nash Skulkin are named for their headshapes. "Ringo" is "apple" in Japanese, and "nashi" is pear.
Fun fact: Chronicles is the only game in the series to have two characters with the same name. Beppo and Peppino are both diminutives of Giuseppe. They're not introduced in the same game because one is from Adventures and the other is from Resolve, but they both show up in Resolve
Yooo nice to see another video from you! Especially loved the part about Jeremy Brett & the Granada series inspiration. On that note, the one Shamspeare sprite where he bends and unbends the staff is almost a frame for frame copy from Granada's Speckled Band, where Roylott bends the iron poker to intimidate Holmes (considerably less intimidating when it's replaced with a shoddy cardboard prop!)
Amazing video! Impressed by both the presentation and the info, I'm surprised you were even able to find out about most of these. Just curious, how did you make the Susato silhouette? It looks like it came straight out of the game
I feel like you're onto something with the Brett connection. Their facial features are a very close match down to the face shape and nose. One does'nt get that specific by coincidence, no?
Excellent video to quench my GAA content needs. I’m looking forward to seeing if you do make that unused content video cause I love that kind of trivia.
Omggg this is so well donee!! Good job on researching and telling us all this!! I genuinely didn't know about most of these!! I'd really like to see a video about the unused content too! Keep it up! ^_^
Holy crap. So well written, well researched, and well executed. I wish I could like this video twice. One of the best videos related to TFAA/DGS on the site, easily.
wow great stuff! I particularly love the editing and how it looks straight out of the game. Is that a particular fan-made software or is it all entirely made by you with editing?
4:01 OBJECTION! "Mysterious twin sister?" no! This is a resemblance to a fairytale character "Little Red Riding Hood" and Capcom has a Darkstalkers character resemble to her.
It's not cancelled, just been shifting my priorities to learning programming and getting the game base done. I will give an update when I feel like it.
Hey uh i know this is kinda random but do you know what the creators used to make the 3d models of the characters? Ive been trying to figure out for so long but i just cant :( also i loved this video (especially how you made it a great deduction) 💖💖

Yeah, Takumi's a huge fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories, and I'm glad the team shared the same enthusiasm

I always thought the Pun with Asa Shin was
Asa Shin- Assassin
Miss. Shin- Mission
Much more clever than my brother and I initially thinking the pun was Asa Shin = Asian
@@rainbowsomeoneshe’s not even Asian 😭

I watched the Grenada Holmes series after playing TGAA last year, and man, I took a triple-take when I saw Jabez in his pawn shop.

It actually is in the game! It appears in case 4 of resolve due to Herlock being knocked out. Xd
@@theflyingstickman4704 I can't believe I missed that. Thank you!
