I am concerned about synthetic Ascension getting hard nerfed as well as the Whisperer Covenant not being strong enough. I am also very intrigued with the end of the cycle Covenant. I am a bit worried that the changes will make so end of the cycle is less likely to happen.
As long as they changed/removed the 'price you pay' part I can see all the covenants being used. If they still have the old ones, then you'll only see Desires be used like always since its price to pay was nothing, while the others were often 'you lose a planet.'
I'm kinda assuming those static maluses are actually the new "prices" to pay. Which only makes Nurgle all the better - you're not gonna have a whole lot of mod points anyway, so 2 picks less isn't gonna sting much.
@@somerando6243 That's what i meant be annoying penalties. Losing a leader or some stability is nothing compared to losing a whole planet. It's a really low chance of happening but im not a good gambler.

If one of the more modern AI models could be trained to speak in the voice of your advisor, using that for TTS would be amazing! I doubt I'll use it unless it matches advisor voice though, just because of the immersion break.
I know it would be expensive and a pain, but it would be SICK to have text to be actually voiced beyond accessibility. It could be a really cool immersion if the voice was thematic for your playthrough
Looks to me that the Instrument of Desire only affects pop upkeep, rather than job upkeep, as in the game the two are often affected separately, so in this case it would only be more food and consumer goods upkeep per pop, rather than for example more minerals for a metallurgist
Would be cool if Shrouders could choose to go down a further dodgy path making it more Chaos-like beyond the covenants. Shroud entity armies, shroud infused ships, ‘rituals,’ planetary decisions, forging shroud rifts (bonuses and penalties in systems near the sacrificed system to make said rift), etc. could throw a new ‘resource’ to balance or whatnot. Could go a long way toward the loss of robots and pop trait increases from other paths. To those that stay more pure and untainted psionic (more typical scifi/sci fantasy) being safer, less costly, and more stable benefits Would be really cool if they fix the criminal heritage and subversive cult gameplay (doubly if you can really ‘export’ those criminals and cultists)
I feel like this is setting the stage for benevolent entities to enter the game at a later time. I know it's hard to believe, but I actually listen to your entire video.
I'm yet to see a story about MP game where crisis player held on hitting level 5 until they could get The End Of The Cycle... and reaction of other players to that combo.
Would be awesome if the TTS was read by your selected advisor. I’m sure that would be a nightmare to code, but it’d make me use the TTS even though I don’t need it. While they’re at it they could change the tone of the passage based on which advisor you have selected
TTS with the advisor voices would be extremely nice, but probably not possible, as the advisors are prerecorded and the samples are not enough to serve as a template for TTS.
11:01 The instrument of desire only talks about pop upkeep, not pop jobs upkeep. So it only affects consumer goods and food, which is managable if you compensate it with 5% on all jobs.
I want a halo covenant esque sort of spiritualist path we might get it with the federation type but like more to it the goal of finding ancient ruins of precursor empires or getting bonuses for having fallen empire worlds ect
The Beta is so scuffed, the stat weight for AI empires have them stat weighted for synthetic evolution even if they are fanatic spiritualist. There needs to be a more determinate way to get the psionic theory tech (without teachers of the shroud origin), multiple games I've been sitting there for years trying to get lucky and have enough backlogged unity to rush the entire ascension. Also, IMO there needs to be a special covenant for Knights of the Toxic God if you go psionic ascension if you select the option to not get the special colossus at the end of the quest chain
On the face of it I think the increased pop upkeep from instrument of desire can be interpreted in two ways. One way is that it affects all job upkeep, which would be bad as you say since it would make for example metallurgists less efficient. But it could also be interpreted as only affecting the non job specific upkeep, that is the food and the living standard consumer goods, which is much less of a cost. That would seem like a much better deal to me for that increase in resources from jobs. It would in fact be pretty similar to giving pops high living standards.
@@MontuPlays I have to admit, I believe that it has to be pop upkeep. (Food + Living Standards) Especially if they're leaning into Slaanesh, it's all hedonism, so...

So they reworked all the chaos Gods but didn't change The Chosen One event even though its supposed to be The equivalent for The God Emperor and making your own chaos god?
Tbh the Mark of the Eater is only slightly better in theory but in reality, it's actually worse as orbital damage isn't really something you ever care about (one day we will have our ground combat rework) so you are getting an auxiliary fire control that is much more expensive with no meaningful benefit..
Too be fair they are far from chaos gods of WH20k they only have some small simillarieties as estereggs. Chaos from warhammer is extreamly self distructing ....
I think Cybernetics and Synthetics are quite well balanced now. Cybernetic is quite weak in overall perspective, but you can get Cybernetic AP as soon as you research tier 2 tech. Meanwhile, you have to research tier 4 tech, Synthetic Workers to get Synthetic Evolution AP...

I'm yet to see a story about MP game where crisis player held on hitting level 5 until they could get The End Of The Cycle... and reaction of other players to that combo.
Yes Commissar the video right here
Do you have a minute to talk about Horus, our lord and saviour?
@@MontuPlays you mean the arch traitor

Whisperers in the Void needs a buff desperately. The cyborg changes are good.
By the might of the Shroud, we will rule this galaxy!
Would be awesome if the TTS was read by your selected advisor. I’m sure that would be a nightmare to code, but it’d make me use the TTS even though I don’t need it. While they’re at it they could change the tone of the passage based on which advisor you have selected
Text to speech...a feature worthy of the Emperor.
TTS with the advisor voices would be extremely nice, but probably not possible, as the advisors are prerecorded and the samples are not enough to serve as a template for TTS.
that "like button" bit startled the hell out of me
It seems that, once again, Nurgles blessings remain the most generous. All praise the grandfather, and rejoice! Nurgle loves you ❤️ 💖
11:01 The instrument of desire only talks about pop upkeep, not pop jobs upkeep. So it only affects consumer goods and food, which is managable if you compensate it with 5% on all jobs.
15:40 I think that sums up the Chaos gods pretty accurately lol
I want a halo covenant esque sort of spiritualist path we might get it with the federation type but like more to it the goal of finding ancient ruins of precursor empires or getting bonuses for having fallen empire worlds ect
I had to immediately press like after hearing your Khornite impression 😂
The Beta is so scuffed, the stat weight for AI empires have them stat weighted for synthetic evolution even if they are fanatic spiritualist. There needs to be a more determinate way to get the psionic theory tech (without teachers of the shroud origin), multiple games I've been sitting there for years trying to get lucky and have enough backlogged unity to rush the entire ascension. Also, IMO there needs to be a special covenant for Knights of the Toxic God if you go psionic ascension if you select the option to not get the special colossus at the end of the quest chain
My current beta playthrough everyone but me is synthetic lol. This is a 800 stars 20 empires game 😅
Now i kinda want to give Bubbles psionic powers too.
Oh, yes if its just the resource upkeep of the pops and not the job upkeep then thats much better!
Wouldn't the former just outright be noted as job upkeep? Pop upkeep is the latter, afair.
@@MontuPlays I have to admit, I believe that it has to be pop upkeep. (Food + Living Standards) Especially if they're leaning into Slaanesh, it's all hedonism, so...
@@Llortnerof You never know in video games, rules text and code are written separately and there are often mistakes on both sides.
Oh my god I will so be using TTS. I never read the anomalies because I mostly just wanna minmax and my games would drag on if I read everything
You can get both chosen one traits, and even stack them, if the chaos gods are on your side.
Me who worship RNJesus at the alter of save scumming: "It was never a matter of if."
Take a drink every time he says "whopping". See you on the other side.
And a shot every time I say "massive"?
So they reworked all the chaos Gods but didn't change The Chosen One event even though its supposed to be The equivalent for The God Emperor and making your own chaos god?
Tbh the Mark of the Eater is only slightly better in theory but in reality, it's actually worse as orbital damage isn't really something you ever care about (one day we will have our ground combat rework) so you are getting an auxiliary fire control that is much more expensive with no meaningful benefit..
Me who knows nothing about these chaos gods: ah yes they work just like the chaos gods.
You can still get Synthetics as a cyborg.
There needs to be a special interaction between the Eater of Worlds and Terravores.
29:20 I skip text because I'm clicking through things too fast and want to go back and read, like, lore after, say, dismissing notifications. I want notification history!
Thank you for telling me about TTS I hope this works even a little because it helps I maybe able to read but I am not fast at it and I have yet to finish a single game due to how long my game is and learning every new update
I can't wait for someone to make a mod that lets you join all covenants and have dozens of chosen.
Lorgar Mod
I always associated the composer with tzeentch being a constant force for change in your people
Too bad there is no alternative to "stay pure" and play without covenant for roleplaying purpose and get some bonuses from that. Probably small bonuses but without downsides, like +10 stability and happiness.
I would be absolutely loving the TTS feature with the Knights of the Toxic God origin and On the Shoulders of Giant origin.
The story text is so long yet I want to understand what happen, I really need someone or something read it for me
I feel called out... Still with minus eyeballs... I like to listen in the background
I love how over the past like 4 major updates psionics has gone from dog water to really good.
I love the fact this game is becoming more and more of a mix of Sci fi worlds especially Warhammer 40k.
My only question where is the “End of the Cycle” covenant?:(
Is it not getting updated in any way or what?
I made it to the secret call out! Also, I just have to say I can't wait to play the new patch when it's officially released. So many changes that seem really good :)
is nobody going to acknowledge the comedy in a TTS coming with something very 40K related?
Love the intro
I feel the Warp overtaking me, it is a good pain!
my god... that 50% army damage is gonna be so sick on my very strong psionic warriors with warrior culture.
If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device
THis stuff spawned right next to me in my latest beta playthrough. Was surprised
5:17 Do you know if ship range also will increase minimum range with the combat rework? Or just the max?
Would be nice if ship range also lowered the min range, or they add a modifier and or ship part for that.
So what your saying is that,
I can have Emperor read out all the text?
