Thank you for being real. Anxiety is a problem that so many are ashamed to admit they suffer from. These tips are awesome! I’m a big fan of writing it down to drain your brain of all the stuff. You’re a great role model!

And again proof that handwritten plans and notes are way better than digital typing! Thanks for sharing! 😊

I've struggled for years with anxiety and depression myself. Thank you for being real. It's so hard to talk about which like you said is funny in itself. I am at a point of total overwhelm myself. I have all these planners and feel like I'm getting nothing done. I think I need to start doing brain dumps instead and then prioritize. Thank you for sharing your struggle too.

Thank you thank you thank you. I’ve suffered from anxiety and panic attacks to the point that I’ve felt as if I was dying. Such a horrible feeling:(. Please post how you manage when you’re in the midst of feeling anxious.

Thank you so much for posting! I also suffer from anxiety and depression and my planner has been so important to me on my journey. I use one daily planner for my actual daily to-do lists and that helps remind me what my actual priorities are for each day. I have a weekly planner for recording my life-ups and downs, tracking my moods, and more importantly printing out memes of the week 😅 Daily planning helps keep my anxiety in check by reminding me of the real priorities and weekly planning helps with depression to be able to remember the good days and also to look forward to the future!

Putting everything down in a calendar or on a To Do List always helps me see what I need to accomplish. It also helps me focus on keeping just one or two major things on a date, and it gets me motivated to chunk up the tasks into manageable items. I enjoy your videos! 😀 and I enjoy that you are just yourself! Keep up the good work!

So happy for you that you have found a way to "manage" your anxiety. This video helped me a lot! Although I have to admit there are a lot of different kinds of anxiety. I want to be a social person but am kind of afraid (?) to plan things with friends and family because those occasions are so emotionally exhausting for me. I'm a big introvert. Still trying to find my way in all of this. Thanks for being a so honest 💖

I can totally feel you on the social front. It is exhausting, but I find myself getting so much more depressed if I don't push myself to do it!

Thanks for keeping it real. I too have anxiety & I had to stop using my EC hourly cuz the blank spaces were freaking me out! I'm using my EC Vertical just to finish out the year. I don't feel as overwhelmed as I did when I had the hourly, but I am definitely moving away from the weekly spread & more to a monthly & using a TN for the daily spread. I also have the EC schedule pad & it's so much easier for me to just write everything down for each day of the week & not have the rest of a planner page all blank. It's crazy how the little things can cause anxiety to skyrocket!

Right?!? When I realized it was my planner causing anxiety and stress my brain basically exploded from shock.

  • @maryclausen

Good for you girl! I also use my planner for to do lists and put it on a reasonable week when it has to be done. I keep it by my bed so when I remember something I can write it down and go to sleep. When I was raising Four kids I was like a machine but now my anxiety keeps me from being in big crowds and social outings. It is always a work in progress. I think we all need to know we are not alone and share our tips on how we improve!

Oh girl, I feel you! I start with putting things down like what I binge watched on Netflix and if I walked my 5K steps... writing things down that are EASIER to achieve and mark off makes it easier for me to start writing down the harder things too.

Thank you for being honest and being real. I feel the hourly would definitely drive me crazy filling up all the space as well. The vertical is what I am trying right now. If this doesn’t work for me I will be switching to a monthly deluxe.

Thank you for sharing! I do some similar work trying to identify key appointments each day. Then I try to maintain openings in my schedule to tackle projects and to do lists. When I'm having a particularly busy or overwhelming week, I rely on some tricks I learned when I was healing from a concussion. I split my to do list into different types of energy. Strategic thinking, Personal communication/interactions, Out of the House Errands, Physical tasks and (my favorite) Do from the couch on your phone list. Then I can do an energy check to see what kind of brain power or energy level I have for that specific block of time. Similar to managing your "spoons" and then pick the most important thing from the list that I'm able to tackle. I use the bottom row in a weekly vertical planner to break out the to do lists into categories. But I do like how switching to the monthly view keeps you more focused on balancing work and fun - perhaps I'll spend some more time on my monthly calendar to ensure that I am finding good balance.

Erika Beatty How did you come up with that thinking plan for when you were healing from your concussion? Also, do you know of any resources or organizations that help people who are trying to heal?

    • @erikaloenbeatty
      @erikaloenbeatty 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@plannertwins9914 Several of the ideas came from my occupational therapist who helped me retrain my brain. And the rest was chatting with my cousin on how she manages her anxiety. I didn't do a lot of research on support groups and relied on my extended family for support. But a local nurologist or concussion clinic in your area might have some good organizations to look at. I hope you have continued healing. ❤

I started to bullet journal this past September to help with my anxiety and depression. It has been really helpful and gets my mind off the overwhelming thoughts. I use this with my Jibun Techo and a random notebook for brain dumps and meeting notes. But I try/ attempt memory keeping. For 2019, I pan using a rings system for that. Since I told myself to use what I have and ....budget........ Sorry got off on an anxiety tangent

Love all your videos on all your channels. I seriously have to applaud you for confronting and talking about such a major topic. That you were able to seek help, and talk about it, is epic. Keep up the great work! Unfortunately, my way of dealing with anxiety is to push my husband to do more. We have a business where we deal with time constraints, and if things aren't getting done fast enough to suit me, I push him. On the opposite end of the ladder, when I have so many things to do, I simply retreat into a depression and do nothing. Neither of these are good for anyone. I'm lucky we've been married 23+ years, and we know how to deal with each other.

Anxiety can be really hard on a significant other, that's for sure. I find open communication has worked best for us. It's better to let him know what I'm feeling rather than hoping he'll read my mind!

I think it helps me too. The hard part about it is both of my daughters have it now, trying to help them find coping skills early so it doesn’t become out of hand. I have bought them both a planner, hopefully they find it as an outlet like I have.

I’m in a similar boat. I went from no planner to the EC vertical for 2 years, bought all the stickers of IG and was overwhelming myself besides going into debt over stickers. Ridiculous!! And I was so anxious over it all and frustrated I just stopped and my life got really messy. That’s why I tried just one weekly insert for a few weeks from Oh Hello Co before going all in and buying all the things I felt I’d need. Now it’s less sticker focused, just a few and mostly ink. It’s easier to create small brain dumps of crap to do, jot my work schedules and make everything work. I can’t plan long term goals for this reason alone, and I hate commitments too far out.

Great video - I have had anxiety all my life. I love looking at beautiful planner spreads on instagram. I buy too many planners , write things down in different places and was becoming more unorganized. I need to check out monthly planner from EC. At one time I was subscribing to 2 different planner kits in a month and feeling guilty I didn’t keep up decorating all my planners . I think I will shift away from the weekly and move towards monthly and daily to do list !

I just found you today. I feel the same way about the day to day or hour to hour and the same thing you did. Switched to monthly. I did add note pages at the endbecause I write a lot.

I have tried the brain dump thing but found it too overwhelming also. So when I do it (not very often) I immediately place things on a specific date. Then I have the list to fill in things for the next month. Funny, I do get things done but never in the way I thought I might. Works. Thanks for reiterating. ❤

That was very helpful. I just re-worked my own system. I use my Erin Condren Horizontal for to do lists, comments and weekly and monthly goals. I use my TN as a gratitude journal and write in it every night. If a lot of things are bothering me (I have PTSD and that happens when I get overwhelmed, I use Docs on my computer to write a long entry going into what is going on. I have found that if I hand write this, I don't get it all in. I type very fast. I had been using InkWell Press and found that as a retiree, I am not interested in becoming more successful, so as much as I liked it, it was overkill.

This was super helpful as I'm currently super stressed about a few things in my life and I'm hoping that I can find a way to ease it a little bit. Also, I want to know your thoughts on the new On The Go planners EC released in the petite planning line. I feel like you could ditch the deluxe monthly and work exclusively in your TNs with the new stuff she came out with.

Super structured planners GIVE me anxiety 😂 Give me a cute journal I can customize and I'm a happy camper. My big thing is not overextending myself while my random physical anxiety fades.

I am so like you in that a monthly planner works best for me to really know what the heck is going on with my life. Then I use a weekly planner to keep track of individual days’ to dos or record stuff I need to keep track of. (I use Hobonichi weeks that has both monthly and weekly, plus note pages at the end. ) check it out and let me know what you think. The EC monthly delux, in its new incarnation, is great. I just wish she would make a slightly smaller version that could be carried in a medium sized purse.

I blame all new releases, every one has a system till the new sh*t drops, that's when planner peace comes to an end. I just placed an order for a planner very different from what I use so we shall see.
