I uploaded this earlier tonight, but there was an audio issue y'all told me about! I fixed it and this one should sound perfect. Thanks for pointing it out and enjoy the reaction!
Straiiiight qualityyyy whhhhite music 🤝 Hell yeah. Loved this whole album for ages. Glad to see you enjoying M.Shadows (vocals), The Rev (drums) and the rest. They made killer music together.
Listen to Buried alive on the nightmare album. Nightmare is my favorite of their albums and it serves as kind of a tribute to The Rev who was their drummer
Fun Fact: The opening line of the song, "He who makes a beast out of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man" is a quote by 17th Century British author Dr. Samuel Johnson.
You pointed out the drums at some point. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan is a MONSTER on the drums, while also being one of main writers of Avenged Sevenfold from their first album to Nightmare. His genius cannot be understated and if you want to hear him at arguably his best you have to listen to: Beast and the Harlot, Burn it Down, and Blinded in Chains. He unfortunately passed in 2009, during the demo phase of Nightmare, where Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater was brought on to finish the album based on The Rev's demos of the songs. Drumeo on TH-cam has THE documentary on The Rev and is worth the watch.
At warped tour when they were on volcom stage promoting the "Waking the Fallen" precursor EP I got every A7X member to sign a disc. Matt had to yell at Rev to come sign because Rev was joining an Andrew WK party conga line hahaha! It was wild and they all were most gracious. Sadly I gifted the signed copy to my younger cousin who probably traded it for drugs. Actually I'm gonna go contact that cousin now because of this.
Cannot be understated how much i enjoy seeing people "discover" the music of my childhood. The Rev, Mike Portnoy, Will Calhoun, and many others inspired me to take agressuon out on so leather. So spread the love
This comes from the City of Evil album. It has their original drummer, the Rev. He sadly died a few years after this album. He performed background vocals and was a breathtakingly creative drummer.
God, City of Evil is such an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. I’ve held that album close to my heart for nearly two decades and could still never get enough of it.
Only if you get the non-canon ending. It's also worth mentioning that they've made songs for multiple Call of Duty: Black Ops games. Not Ready To Die - Black Ops: Zombies Carry On - Black Ops II Campaign & Zombies (used to be the original easter egg song for Tranzit, but it was removed) Jade Helm (Instrumental) - Black Ops III Soundtrack Mad Hatter - Black Ops 4 Zombies
The crazy part of the solo is that this is one of the "easier" ones he plays. For synyster's madness check out afterlife, dancing dead, or sidewinder. Sidewinder is a dual solo with his dad
This series has actually introduced to a lot of different music and bands that I’ve never heard of before, despite being a white dude who’s only really listened to white music. Some of these songs you’ve listened to have become my absolute favorites, while others I’ve only listened to once. Your series has truly expanded and changed my taste in music! It’s been very interesting, and a lot of fun to react to these songs along with you, so thank you for doing what you’re doing! ❤️ I would like to recommend that you react to the song “Through the Fire and Flames” by DragonForce. That song is a rite of passage for anyone who does music reactions on TH-cam. I promise that it’s unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. When I first heard that song it blew my mind, and DragonForce has been my new favorite band ever since!
The Rev was a once in a generation talent on drums. We will never see another one like him. I was lucky enough to see him perform live once before he died and the combination of speed and complexity paired with his ease, exuberance, and genuine joy was a beautiful thing. He truly loved his craft and it showed. RIP King. Also you should react to Trivium next.
This album City of Evil is amazing! It's what made me so excited to learn guitar almost 20 years ago now. Absolutely worth checking out the other songs on it - you'd like Beast and the Harlot for sure!
9:17 😂 Sometimes we go in the booth, but usually we just chill with the producer and listen to the mix with them. Drums is in the booth where they cant bother others
What’s good Champion?!? Love the White Music reactions!! If you’re feeling A7X give Beast and the Harlot a listen as well as Buried Alive (this songs is lengthy).
Synyster Gates who is the lead guitarist is an actual wizard. He is also an extremely good jazz and classical guitarist which is what he was trained in. Some of their newer stuff you can really hear the jazz inspiration.
At some point you gotta check out the recording from their "Live in the LBC" concert on TH-cam!! Nothing but hits, recorded amazingly, and crystal clear sound!
They released an album last summer. It’s definitely worth a listen. Game Over or Mattel for a more hype song. Cosmic or Nobody for the more experimental rock/metal song.
CB required no explanation, love it! I hadn't heard this song in like over a decade, thanks for sharing your reaction. Your reaction to the solo - which was one of the harder ones on Guitar Hero II (dating myself with this one) - makes me wonder if anyone has suggested DragonForce for the Trying White Music series yet. Herman Li's not white, but his solo in the song "Through the Fire and the Flames" is possibly the greatest guitar solo of all time.
The entire City of Evil album is a masterpiece! You should also check out Shepherd of Fire it’s from the Hail to the King album and is a certified banger.
Hell yeah ! If you want another big Avenged Sevenfold hit, I'd recommend going for Nightmare next If you want a super energic song from the same album (City of Evil) there's plenty but I'd recommend Blinded in Chains ! (there's also Beast and the Harlot for a cheezy/fun hit, or Seize the Day for an awsome ballad ! Awsome album)
I think I’ve seen enough of your videos by now to know your taste, and I gotta say, next band you need to check out is Godsmack. You will NOT be disappointed.
Fun fact: the quote in the beginning was from Dr. Samuel Johnson in...somewhere around 1760. I can't remember the date....but it was in reference to alcohol. I have the quote tattooed across my stomach
"Bat Country" was released in 2005. If you're curious to experience A7X from 2023, please check out "Nobody." It's not as hard as the A7X songs you've reviewed, but it's a cool jam.
Yo RobTV!!! you absolutely HAVE TO do a reaction to So Far Away live at the grammy museum. Emotional, but Synyster Gates is unreal and M Shadows has crazy vocals. I'm here for alllll the A7X reactions keep them coming!!!!
He should react to their live performance of the song on The Arsenio Hall Show. They went so hard on that performance and the audience didn't have a clue what they were in for. Arsenio was all for it. You can tell he loved it when he comes on at the end and shakes all their hands.
@@VileMisanthrope super-incredible performance to be sure! For reaction videos, I tend to prefer the studio versions unless it was the live one that "hit" (like I Want You to Want Me or Do You Feel Like We Do. I would 1000% agree with the Arsenio performance as a second reaction though - people have no idea how good they were!
Rob, I just found you on YT last night and basically watched 40+ episodes of this. Great stuff man, congrats. I work overnights so I had some time and put together a list that I think most would agree with. I've gotta admit, you're one of my favorite reactors for rock music because you can seriously appreciate the music and the energy. Reminds me of your opinion kn Chop Suey by SOAD. It's fair to not like it as much as other songs. That being said, keep this shit up. This is too fun. Check out Holy Mountain by System of a Down, when you can. Keep it up
A7x is a rabbit hole you wouldn’t in a billion years regret getting into. You think yk how they sound and then, complete change. And it’s always quality. Angels- avenged Sevenfold
Unholy Confessions is the song that really put them on the map. Inredible mix of screaming and singing. Completely different sound from some of what youve reacted to from them.
I discovered this on the Madden 06 soundtrack. Been in my playlist since. Another on it was Andrew WK Party Hard which is a similarly fun song. If you're wanting to rock out though, Sevendust is the way to go. Waffle, Denial, Black and Bitch are my favs and you should check out some day.
So many good songs by A7X that you should check out. - Afterlife - A Little Piece Of Heaven - So Far Away - Seize The Day - Buried Alive - Almost Easy - Unholy Confessions - Beast & The Harlot Etc.
