    i wish they gave us a psp version like ff1\2\4 for this game, it's one of my favourite final fantasy and i really dig that look, same goes for 6 obviously

      I wish 3, 5, & 6 had PSP versions that were made by the same teams or made the exact same as the 1, 2, & 4 versions and that later ports don’t use a new look that’s seen in the steam/iOS Ports and the Pixel Remasters. Use that same PSP look plus add some actual arranged music, no half ass synth sounding versions or part synth part arranged crap, and then release them on steam and iOS with all previous added extras from other versions I don’t believe you can go wrong but that’s my take.

    Love your port comparison videos, amazing how much actually can be different opposed to the more obvious surface level via graphics. It still puzzles me why the pixel remasters aren't based on their GBA equivalents which for each game featured on said console have the most content. I like the orchestrated music though...SE makes the most bizarre decisions with ports...

    • @goranisacson2502
      @goranisacson2502 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      What I've heard is that it's how the devs decided to balance the "nostalgia versus slick modern feel"-factor that always seems to plague gsmes getting remasters, the old "how do we balance making the games play well for bith an older audience used to and even attached to it's existing quirks, and a newer audience with little tolerance for it".
      From what I've heard, their decision was to essentially muck around with difficulty and battle balance, but strive to have the content be as faithful to the "original game experience" as possible, minus wonky old translations. So they won't have any "story content" so to speak, like extra dungeons and sidequests, that wasn't in the originals. Original "story" but new "gameplay", is what I guess they were going for.

    The PR versions had various bug fixes and stability improvements. If you still experience stutter, consult fan solutions in the description.
    The weapon “Brave Blade” has been altered so that attack power lost from escaping battle is recovered one point at a time by winning a set number of further battles. In addition, it will not exceed its original attack power.
    The weapon “Chicken Knife” has been altered so that its “Scram” effect is not activated when using “Mug” or “Counter”.
    Weapons that change the effect of “Attack” have been altered so their effects are not activated when using “Counter”. The Chicken Knife’s “Scram” effect is included in this change.
    Critical hits now cause a screen flash, repeating attacks are now faster, the mini map now stays active when you transition screens, the cursor defaults to yes at inns, seams of the area between water & ground tiles were tweaked, and when fleeing the transition from battle to field is faster

    FF5 was in the greatest need for a remaster, so I'm really happy with how this pixel remaster turned out. It's a shame that none of the pixel remasters have any of the GBA bonus content, but I'd still say that the pixel remaster, at least for this game, is easily the best version of FF5.

    • @ClintonKE
      @ClintonKE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well 5 was in great need for a remaster but I'd say 3 was greatest need. Still this is a good version of 5 now that they managed to fix some of the bugs (granted the mp on job change glitch made the game harder actually).
      I find it neat the pixel version is overall the hardest of 5 as well (slap max speed active and bosses and most enemies including bosses in mook clothes will move 2-3x before you can get your 1st turn most of the time). 5 was already not a starter FF (not saying it was hard but it certainly had a tooth or 2) so this was pretty nice challenge wise.

      The onion kids didn't need to be given one line backstories that pretty much just made actual plot holes for example. End game jobs didn't need to be nerfed as bad as they did.

      @@sebastiankulche you don't have to grind in ff5. You chose to stay at the wrong job, like not starting red mage in Phoenix tower to get 500 of the 999 ABP needed for dualcast. FF3 is similar (wrong class at wrong time and not exploiting defend 4 times to job level up every battle with 5 actions until comfy will make ya rage quit) but some help makes it a lotta fun (I said bards help in both games, did you use Romeo's ballad to cheese?). The thief got an overhaul do you can see hidden passages, Rob Gilgamesh of useful genji gear, and combine with monk's Barehanded to do good damage and go first.
      I could break down a setup if you'd like to go, endgame you have to master and transfer with freelancer (physical jobs usually) and Mime (3 commands, dualcast with multiple magic though blue magic won't work with dualcast). I hated the mystic knight for wasting a turn for spellblade as I'd heal my enemy with bad luck (and couldn't equip stronger knight swords I had), or hit with confuse so I wasted it, but some use it to cast break and guarantee killing enemies, and I think this includes one part of the last boss, neo exdeath.
      It's just a puzzle solving charm that can't be had in an overrated game like Chrono trigger where you actually use 2 people to heal your party, where the chemist mix lets you fully heal hp and mp (Phoenix down+potion best revival ever for all 3) or cheese bosses.

      @@MrVariant "You dont have to grind in ffv".
      Sorry, but you are wrong. In fact, is one of the grindiest games i ever played. Bosses like Atomos, Neo Exdeath or Omega, if you dont do broken strategies they are very hard to beat normally. Obtaining job exp is so tedious and fuc.... long, until you fight the brown circles in the rift (i dont remember their name, maybe movers, i dont care). Even then you could waste hours for max only one class since movers were rare. Dont even talk about level up, you need like 30000 or 40000 exp points to level up on level 40 and onwards and the enemies that i find that gives me the most exp gives me like 1000-1500. And since in FFV the battles takes so long (something shamefully also happens in a lot of other games in the series starting with IV), you can take also some hours to level up one character (yeah, i do the math). At least FF3 balance much more the jobs and level up them doesnt make too much difference. In FFV i cannot use the jobs that i want since most of them are useless and others are only worth just for unlocking one skill (in FF1 a red mage was so useful, while in FFV why you would use it after unlocking dualcast?). The skills are also poorly balanced, i dont know why but FFV started the tendency in the series of making rapid fire and dualcast dominant strategy. One of the most unbalanced skills i ever seen in an RPG ever.

What I usually look for in the first six final fantasy games IS the sound/music quality from the SNES. I own the ps1 version and the sound quality disappoints me. Squaresoft knew how to utilize the sound chip within the SNES/Super Famicom to the best of its abilities (i.e. Reina's theme in the very beginning was the reason that got me hooked).
